Hi folks
Im wondering if any aussies have had luck getting a ukrainian girl to Australia without getting knocked back at least once. i would like to know the secret. Moscow seems to knock back stuff easily. Lets say I meet a girl through an agency correspond with her for 1 year , keep all the letters , we both speak fluent English , I visit her In ukraine for a few weeks etc , take photos is it enough?? Has anyone been able to succeed with an application without having had to visit your Russian girl more than once. Do Moscow really expect you to be able to afford to go and see her 2 times a year with work commitments etc? It seems that from what a friend has told me who tried this that a few weeks isnt enough to convince them? So lets say you can only visit her once is there some other way to convince them? Are Moscow getting more lenient or tougher?
can anyone give me some tips thanks. I cant believe that every guy who has got a girl from russia has gone twice.
thanks Carlo
Hi
I am from across the ditch - if Aussi similar to NZ - then your chances of doing this with one short visit are very slim. I tried in 2004 and failed with this formula - NZ dropped the Fiancée Visa in Set 2003. I am now going through the process again with another lady - this time from Ukraine (1st one from Russia) but I stayed 2 months with her (June - July) and lived in a full time relationship for that timeframe. We submitted all documents and papers last Monday in Moscow – so we now sit and wait and hope the finger nails last !!!!!!!!!
There is a new laws unless your german who has a agreement with russia.
Business Travelers Face New Headache
By Kevin O'Flynn

All foreigners, with the exception of Germans, who travel on multi-entry business visas must reregister every time they enter the country under a new rule introduced this week.
All foreigners, with the exception of Germans, who travel on multi-entry business visas must reregister every time they enter the country under a new rule introduced this week.
The passport and visa departments of the Moscow city police stopped stamping residency permits in passports of foreigners with the commercial visas on Tuesday. Confirmation of registration is now being stamped only on migration cards -- which foreigners have to submit when they leave the country.
Jesus they are wankers (Russia I mean)
They just love making it hard for people. If they only learnt that allowing tourists and business entrepreneurs etc come and go easier - they would make alot more $$$ and be better for there whole country.
Or am I missing something ??????????
I will do thatI am going golfing with Putten and Boris :)then over to the Country club for some Borsh.
I do know this because my Lady friend works in travel, it makes there job a whole lot Harder.
They do just love making things Harder, Like my friend said this will get so out of Hand it will be a big Joke because People will Loose Paper work and Passports and just bad Relations with Tourists.
So basically you guys are telling me that every guy that has brought back a russian girl has had to visit her 2 times? thats ridiculous.Any Aussies here?
I think the Aussi on here a month or so ago fell off !! But there was one at one stage.
There are under the table tricks you can possibly do to get a women into Aussi without multiple visits. Work Visa or Student Visa - I am sure Aussi will have these visa's .
But - I wouldn't call going there more than once, or for a lengthy time "ridicules"
I presume you want to be with her for the rest of your life and dont want to make a mistake through impatience.
She might want more visits and time together before committing to you and a life in Australia too !!!
Im the Aussie bloke who comes here on and off.
I have looked into this.
There is a very high rejection rate for fiance visas for FSU women at the Australian embassy in Moscow.
An acquaintance at Australian Immigration Department (DIMA) said about fiance visas and Russian women to have a chance of succeeding you must:
1. Have known your Russian lady for 6 months before travelling to her and prove it by keeping all records of correspondence as well as telephone calls (the actual bills which show her number)
2. Go to Russia or another FSU country where your lady is from and spend at least 2 months with her and prove it with photos, statements from her family about the relationship and engage her to marriage..prove the trip and time spent with her is very important
3. If she has a criminal record for theft, drug use or fraud or another serious crime, her application will be refused for a fiance visa...she must have no criminal convictions and a clean police clearance certificate
4. If she has a kid from another relationship there will be difficuties with the fiance visa application..she must be cleanly and legally divorced and must have legal, notarised and translated permission from the childs father to allow the kid to come to Australia and most FSU girls with kids don't have this and its a huge problem to get it as some fathers will never consent and a FSU women will never leave her kid behind in Russia etc. or if the father is willing to give it..sometimes a bribe of up to $2000 usd has to be paid to get it.
PERSONALLY I WOULD NOT TOUCH A RUSSIAN OR FSU WOMAN WHO HAS A KID..TOO PROBLEMATIC!
5. The onus is on you and her to prove that your relationship is genuine and that you and her have a genuine intent to marry in Australia after her fiance visa is issued..Australian embassy is real difficult and view FSU women as scammers unless proven otherwise..its a case of guilty and having to prove yourself innocent first.
6. DIMA is tougher on FSU girls than the US INS!
Looks very similar to NZ. They do not state in writing the "2 month" timeframe though. But I get the impression it is needed.
Aussie - don't rule out women with children. There is no need for bribes and getting consent seems to meet with few problems (but I am sure there are cases that do)
A lot of the mothers already have full SOLE care/ responsibility of their child from their Ex's.
As I said above - there are other ways that are "under the table" so to speak !!!
The Student Visa is the easiest. Also you can get Visitors Visa via a Russian Tour Agency and hook her into an organized tour group too Australia.
Martin, all Fiance Visa applications for Australia are processed by the Australian Embassy in Moscow..they do the whole former soviet union countries.
Australia has no other Embassies in any of the other Former Soviet Union Countries at all except Russia itself and our Moscow Post is the only embassy you can use to do the official paperwork for all FSU girls!
Maxirat, legal and notarised consent by a Russian court is still required if the father of an FSU child pays any child support or has any role in a childs life.
Having sole custody in itself by the mother is not enough for Australian or US immigration authorities.
Legal permission is still required by the father before the child can be removed from any Former Soviet Union country..without this paperwork, your FSU bride will not be able to take her child out of the FSU and a visa will not be issued to the child by Australia etc.
Verbal agreements for sole custody mean nothing..it has to black and white on paper because its the law and its part of the "red tape"!
There are no "under the table" ways to get a visa for a Russian or FSU women to Australia.
She will never get a visitors visa!
Only way is with a "Fiance Visa" or what is called by Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA) a "Prospective Marriage sub-class 300 Visa"
Maxirat, I have had a foreign bride before for 12 years and I went through all this fiance visa crap myself in 1989..the basic rules were the same then but now its a lot harder.
You can't do a Fiance Visa unless you have had a Taxable Income in Australia of a minimum of $33,000 per year for the last 2 years and had no periods of unemployment in that time..if you don't meet that requirement, you can't "sponsor" YOUR BRIDE HERE YOURSELF.
Also if you have bought in a previous foreign bride to Australia, you can not sponsor another one on a Fiance Visa, unless the applications are at least 5 years apart and you are diovorced as well and free to marry.
For all Australian citizens...YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO SPONSOR AND BRING IN TWO FOREIGN BRIDES ON A FIANCE VISA IN YOUR LIFETIME..THATS IT..THERE IS NO THIRD GO MORE AT IT!

Would getting married in the FSU help or hinder the chaces of a "Fiance Visa" being approved in Australia?
I get very opposing veiws on this in NZ
One thought is get married in FSU and push straight for residency
the other is try and get your girlfriend in on another visa (no "fiance visa in NZ) and then marry and go for residency.
I think getting married in the FSU would be kinda nice for the woman but I wouldnt want to mess up the whole visa thing.
Martin
Same for NZ - we process through Moscow for all FSU countries.

Marriage over there carries no weight at all. They (NZIS) have started coming back to us for extra evidence to support our "stable Relationship" bullshit - Pedantic bastards. !!!!!!!
They are looking for a reason to Fail is !!!!!
Max
Have you got legal representation?
If you haven't I would take legal advice, from a lawyer that has had success in this area, before I answered the NZIS.
All the best
Adman
No.
Have any suggestions on the Legal front. Names I mean.
If I need to I will use for sure. But for Christ’s sake I have just lived with the women for 2 months etc etc
Perhaps if she changed her looks to an Asian she would bolt in !!!

thanks for the feedback. I went through this entire process in 1998. I was able to get a fiance here whilst I was on ausstudy .. I wasnt working. Also I only met her for one trip for 10 days.....I was succesful in my application.,Seems things have toughened up.. So I was rather interested to hear about this $33000 taxable amount that you mention. is this a new law? At what point in the process do they ask for this? Very intersting anyway I guess you have had experience more recently than me
Max
I think the NZIS coming back asking a lot of stupid questions could be a good sign.
The reason I say this is a young woman I know, Masha, has just come through the system, as you are trying to do with Lena.
Her first application was declined without any enquiry from the NZIS.
Her fiance then went to an immigration lawyer (McLeod & Assocates), paid a fortune, and her new application was successful. During the second application the NZIS did come back asking the dumbest questions (whats your wedding dress going to look like etc), who knows what they want, but all went well.
All the best for you and Lena
