My fiance and I have just started the K1 visa process. I know it will take about 6 months, give or take.
I was on the Aerosvit web site and looked up reservations for around mid March 2006. I just wanted to get an approximation on cost for 1 adult and 1 youth. Well it looks like one way airfare from Dnepropetrosvk to New York will be about $500 plus fees and taxes for each one. This sound reasonable to me since I paid a hell of a lot more in June of this year when I went to Ukraine. Not knowing when exactly she will get the fiance visa, I don't want to book the flights yet. But since it seams cheaper now, will the fares go up as the time nears? Do they fill up fast? If flights in March fill up and her trip gets pushed back, won't it get more expensive as the weather gets warmer?
I think it would be cheaper if I book it here online than Talina going to an agent there?
I am just trying to start some planning now and have more questions than answers.
Thanks

I am a little confused over AeroSvits web site. Their prices seem to be cheaper for going into Ukraine and then returning out of Ukraine. They seem to have a higher prices when you reverse this flight path. But everything in that country seems to be geared against their own people !!!!!
Their prices do not seem to vary all that much unless you are just days out from desired departure date.
I have found difficulty booking on their site more than 6 months in advance - but I am talking Kiev - BKK and Kiev - Dubai.
New York could be different – but I have not had problems with booking space up until 1 month from requirement.
You guys are the real KINGS! Scabbling over a couple of $! My (now ex) girl friend from the U.S. was here in Europe, visiting me with her Kid and to work out our future life. I´m living at one of the famous spots in Southern Europe, 600 yards from the beach, full sea view... After my (ex) girl friend lost her job some months ago I wired her 3,000$ every months. Her kid, 12, made sure that we will NOT get married, even I offered to move back to the U.S. in about a year, offered the Kid a horse and some more... OK, after 3 days here in Europe I told them I would change their tickets and sent them home - what I did after a week, because of the kid. Anyway, you should NOT look at the $$$!!! If you love somebody $$$ are not important!!! Important is: make sure you have plenty of $$$!
So, after this story is over, I´m going to look for a women from Russia - but with NO kids!
I have done a little research, and I could not find a better price for you. Chech air was $518 pr. person...
You still have pretty much time I guess, but it is usual that the price is getting higher the closer you get to the traveldate. They usually have limited tickets for the best price, when these tickets are sold the price will increase fast. To book by internet is usually much cheaper than going through an agent, but sometimes not, so compare the price before you decide.
NOR:I know, the U.S. get EVERY day 100 million $ from around the world! If this stops the system we know AND the U.S. will crash and Americans will drift in poverty in the same way as the USSR drifted into poverty! What do you think where the American women will go then??? Maybe to China???
Uh Carlos, when was the USSR ever out of poverty? Stay with sending your ex girlfriends thousands of dollars, that will keep our economy floating here. Another economic rocket scientist.
Airfares are more expensive out of Ukraine than into Ukraine, check for fares on any website you like, British Airways, Austrian Airlines, Malev etc. etc. etc.
You should be able to get a reasonable fare on Aerosvit at reasonably short notice, particularly if you can be flexible on dates. Should she get a visa on a Monday, does she really need to travel on the Tuesday or can you both be flexible by a few days?
It's all about supply and demand, there ain't the demand, due to visa's etc, out of Ukraine thus there is not the same competition.
Plus, it's airline price fixing, if they all decide upon similar fares then there ain't nothing that you or I can do about it. Check out all the airline sites, the one's I've mentioned and KLM, Ukraine International, LOT Polish and the list goes on, and then try telling me that they haven't all fixed their prices.
When my wife travels from Ukraine to UK we could do it on the cheap, Aerosvit to Warsaw or Budapest and then Wizzair (a low cost carrier) to London but it's not worth the hastle, there might be immigration problems and, at the end of the day, the savings are minimal.
I regularly use Austrian Airlines and/or Ukraine International, they are in bed with each other, I've more than enough points now for a free flight and if you're interested, Austrian operate direct international flights, from Vienna (with connections worldwide), to Kiev, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk & Kharkov.
Malev Hungarian, from Budapest and again with worldwide connections, are good to Kiev and Odessa, on the European sectors, if you get a seat near the front, it's a business class seat but in economy.
Ukraine International are going downhill, and I hope they may read this! All frequent flyers got business class lounges as a perk but now they've changes the rules so unless they allow me to continue getting pissed as complimentary then they can shove it!
