I'm going with Anastasia on a "love tour" thing, in the next few weeks here. I was speaking with a friend of mine and he told me there is a distinct difference between a mail order bride service (where supposedly you actually pay for the girl, or barter a financial agreement for her marriage with her parents) vs just a social event / love tour. What is your own thoughts and experiences with this?
Going with Anastasia tour is much more expensive because they also do a deal with the parents and therefore it will cost you twice as much.
Also going through an official agency like Anastasia you will have to pay customs duty when your bride arrives.
If you need any more help let us know
Wow so Anastasia really is a "technical" mail order bride type service? I mean am I just going to russia to hang out at a bar with horney women? Or is this somthign where I (sorry to put it so blunt) will be haggeling with parents and others regarding actually buying someone's hand in marriage? I just want to be straight forward with what I am getting into and expectation levels here. From what I know as of right now, i'm just meeting some Russian girls at a bar that are interested in American men.... that really doesnt put the realistic marriage odds in my favor, however if this is somthing more..
Thank you so much guys for your helpful and caring advice
I know some have got their brides in duty free but customs arent stupid. If your bride is good looking they are going to know and if you havent decleared her, she will assessed on a sliding scale and penalties added.
Ryan I did not like what I saw in the catalogs so I got mine via the Genetics Institute in St Petersburg. It is a spin-off from an old Cold War military program where they tried to build the perfect soldier. If you talk to them they will make her up to specification. Russia ships zillions of these girls per annum. A further benefit of this program is that they give you a potion to inject and wake the girl up in your country for the first time. Then you don't have problems with visas or citizenship because most immigration services will regard her as born in your country. But apparently the reject rate is high and a lot of girls get shipped back because they turn out to be radioactive.
I ask a simple question, claiming that i'm completly ignorant in this field and you give me a smart ass comment like that? If you dont like my question go harass someone else. I'm just relaying information given to me from a friend whose father claims he went to Columbia, basically bought a girl with a "mail order bride" program and that this is common practice. Common sense tells me BS, however I thought some kind folks here would give me helpful insight into this question, not mock me.
Ryan, I just cannot resist pulling a leg when the idea of buying a bride comes up. Be assured, there's no such thing. Basically, it's just the courtship method that is different from what you have done before.
You join a good agency, study tons of profiles, and make contact with the girls that interest you. You conduct correspondence via e-mail until you have a few that you hit off well with and you feel are worth visiting. Then you visit those.
When you have reached the point where you and a girl have decided to have a future together, you start with the fiance visa process (depends on your home country). She goes over for six months during which time you must make a decision on whether to mary or not. If you do not get married, she goes back to her home country.
Some men prefer to meet girls via romance tours, others prefer the correspondence method. Others visit FSU countries and deal directly with agencies to arrange meetings with a number of girls. There are pro's and con's in each case.
Feel free to ask more questions. There are many experienced members here ready to give you advice. Also read widely on this forum, it will cover many questions you may have.
But also become scam aware and study the variety of scam techniques used because this is unfortunately also part of the foreign bride dating scene.
Feminist groups and other jealous women often deliberately misrepresent this process as "buying a bride" and there is some prejudice in society about this.
Thank you Davey, your comments made me feel alot more enlightened to the process. This is a somewhat obscure field, and I assume the general American populus knows vey little about.... hence these apparent rumors that I've over heard. Annika77 my friend mentioned that this happened in Columbia, not Russia, perhaps there are different cultural practices in third world countries? I wouldnt dismiss my qeuestion as simply comical when such ideals may be the norm elsewhere (who knows... i don't thats why i'm asking). Thank you Davey for again clearing this up, and somewhat prepareing me for what to expect on my upcoming tour. I'm very excited but at the same time if this is nothing more than going to a bar in Russia, I'd rather take a trip to Vegas and try my luck with the women there (I just want to get married and put the odds in my favor).
Ryan since you are already booked for such a tour I wish you the best. There have been a few threads about tours versus correspondence, I suggest you find and read them. Whichever you prefer may depend entirely on your values and personality. If you find that the tour approach is not for you, do not be discouraged. Eventually everyone finds the method that suits them best. If you want to try out the correspondence method, I advise against the following:
Do not subscribe to an agency service that lets you pay to open letters from girls. You never know what's real and what not. IAlso do not pay per address. It is better to subscribe to a service that lets you select girls and have unlimited access to them. Contact details should also be freely exchangeable.
If you have a few days free you also may consider knocking on a few agency doors too see what comes up.
The good part of the FSU dating scene is that it does widen your scope. You will have more options than you had before.
Ryan, to be completely honest, I would cancel trip until you learn more about the process, more about the women, more about the customs, and more about your expectations. I am sure the trip will be fun but I also feel it may be a waste of money. I would say, at a minimun you need to spend about 50-100 hours of reading this site and many others about the process of dating FSU ladies, the visa process, etc.
These are the most amazing women in the world, in my humble opinion, but they come from a different culture, speak a different language, and have different expectation than American women or women from other countries.

I'm sorry where did I come off as saying I am ignorant regarding Russian women and culture? My question had nothing to do with that, rather I was asking about various aspects of supposed mail order bride schemes, please stay on topic and keep your assumptions to yourself.
Annika77 what is your problem? Are you like the heckler in the background that takes a shot at someone when he or she is down? Keep your annoying and thoughtless comments to yourself. Honestly you make me laugh as if this entire process is show how on a higher ethical level (as compared to a "mail order bride"). How many American women do you see advertising themselves overseas to escape America? In a way buying women is far more ethical than some scam artist russian girl who simply wants an American Visa and takes advantage of us broken hearted rich American fools. Because thats likeliy the reality of the situation vs making arrangements with some girls parents (as is common practice in many countries) for a perment and meaningful relationship minus any future hidden agendas. THis is (*POSSIBLY*) nothing more than us being victims to pedatory Russian women with an agenda, so do not come across all high and mighty to my question which in its own rights has its own merits (and of course ethical dilemmas as well).
Some guys, I can think of one guy in particular, actually get their ass on a plane and meet natural ladies in their natural environment.
Some guys, again I can think of one in particular, have never done a romance tour, did not meet their lady via correspondence and have never travelled to FSU to walk straight into an agency nor indeed ever dealt with an agency.
To refer to a lady, any lady, as a 'mail order bride' I consider disgraceful and an insult to the lady and to ladies of FSU. Where does one put the postage stamp, on her forehead?
Anyhow before I get flamed to oblivion... thank you for guiding me in the right direction Davey. I ask alot of controversial questions, not because thats why I agree with, but because someone's gotta ask!
