Author Post Rhino1112 Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 10/4/2005 9:30:20 PM   Just back from two weeks in Ukraine (1 week in Kiev, 1 week in Mariupol) Met with my girl, it was fantastic! I will never date an American woman again. I didn't realize this but Kiev's population is about 7 million now, unlike 3 million stated on the internet. Kiev was a very beautiful city with lots of things to do. The Sherborne Guest House in Kiev was a lot cheaper than any of the nice hotels in Kiev and the service was fantastic! Both the one and two room apartments I stayed in were great! If anybody goes to Kiev, I would highly recommend them. It's much cheaper to stay in the smaller outlying cities than Kiev. Kiev is a bit different from western countries but not as far as price is concerned. The apartment and food was a lot cheaper in Mariupol. Plus, if you have a girlfriend that your going to meet in Ukraine, she can most likely find you an apartment that is much cheaper than you can find or arrange here. For anybody planning a trip to Ukraine/CIS, this forum will provide you with all you need to know. And just GO! I am already planning another trip for January/February. I wish I had more vacation time! For all the veterans out there, thanks for all the information (it was extremely helpful)!!! We go to Kherson but same difference as Mariupol. The women are great and it is cheap there. Just a bitch getting there. I have a guest house in London both going and returning and train/taxi ride. Incidentally I have backed this train thing right into a corner so if anybody wants some info I have it. IZI, do not worry, I have your stuff packed with my carry-on bag. By the way, if my flight gets delayed and I misconect from Warsaw to Odessa(only one flight a day), I already have a backup flight to go to Kiev and then taking the overnight train into Kherson (following your lead on this one). The only problem is that I will be showing up "cold turkey" at the train station, without a ticket. Found out there is a designated regularly scheduled bus from the airport to the station and vice versa, real cheap. Just checked the temperature there; this am (7th there) was in the 30's!!! That's it, taking my black leather jacket. :) Gloves! where are my gloves? Do I have a pair? Found them, yeah! oh oh, my thinning hair, I need a cap. By the way, if there are flights to Varna in the summer from UK airports and there is a catamarang across the black sea from varna to Odessa about twice a week. Also, Ryanair fly to Rzeszow and that is only about 50 miles from Lvov. Just thought I would let people know some good ways to get to the Ukraine and possibl cheap too.
