I recently came across an interesting, low cost way to identify potential scams. Although I don't need it personally anymore, I thought I'd share the information with other members since I've got some very good info from forums myself in the past. This service is provided by a number of agencies/flower delivery services. If you have the address of the girl and are interested in her but you are not sure whether she is real or a scam, you can send her a short translated letter with a flower (you can aso include your pic). The delivery service makes an appointment by telling the girl that they have gift delivery for her from the U.S. or any other place whatsoever and goes to the address you provided, verifies the validity of the ID, age, marital status, etc. of the person by cross checking the information you provided with the data on the girl's passport (including a comparison of her physical appearance with the picture on the passport), they also take a picture of the girl with the flower so that you can make sure yourself that she is the one on the ad that you've seen (they send the pic to you via email). They also email you their impressions related to whether the girl is real or not, the environment where she lives, whether she seemed genuinely interested, etc. The whole service costs $50 and if she is a scam, wrong address, married, etc., they refund 50% of this amount. Then you go back to the agency where you got the address in the first place and request a refund for the remaining amount. If she is real, then maybe you've got yourself something. If something's wrong, then you are not wasting more time and money. It's easy to find such services on the web (through Yahoo, Lycos).
Actually thats right only to some extend. All the applications from the agencies are screened for sure( we have a contract with all our partners that they can place only the ads of real girls on the site). But there are lots of ads from the girls that place their ads on their own. They have their own connection to internet and they dont use the services of dating agencies. In this case we check her on the phone, if we have it. But i think that in 99% cases it is not a question "if she is real". Girls are real, its too dangerous now to scam people as it was just two tears ago( when some guys got the money from men using false names). Now we have real girls, but the question is What are her intentions? Her real Intentions. I know cases when a girl was corresponding with two men , she send then diferent letters , she got money from both, and she even started fiancee visa paperwork for both of them,,,So even if we check on her nobody would ever say that this is a scam... What I am trying to say is that: we screen the applications, yes we do, we try. But we cant screen the background of the girl, we cant find out the real intentions of her..so anyway, one need sto be very very careful.
Now, I must beg upon your generousity! Olga, I think I messed up. I paid for a ladies address, now how do I contact her? When I made the purchase, I looked at my account and it said "In progress...". Now it says "done". When I tried to send a second letter to this lady I find that I have to pay again?? Help please! Did I miss something?
I know a way to find scammers. Ask the girl to send you some money or a gift (not much… let’s say about 50$) if she refuse... she's a scammer. As for agencies I'm not sure yet.
Hey Jimi: Don't know how to break this to you - but among the reasons that some Russian women look to the West for new opportunity is that they have no money to speak of at all. In Ukraine the average wage comes to around $800 per year. In Moldova its less than that. Having a typical Russian woman from one of these countries send you a gift ("not much...less say about 50$") may be way beyond her means no matter how honest she is.
I think that Olga is right, there is only so much an agency can do. One thing, that no one has mentioned, is that there is a law in the USA that says a woman (or man) cannot become a US Citizen for 5 years after marraige. So, if a woman is marrying just for citizenship, she must stay married for 5 years, if she doesn't, she gets shipped back to her country. This law was enacted a few years ago for the sole purpose of discouraging women from other countries (most notably South America) from marrying for a green card. If you think you are being scammed, by a woman for a green card, let her know that. If she still wants to marry you, for you, she sould not have a problem with it.
It is only 2 years after the conditions on her permanent residency are waived. Conditional permanent residency takes less than a year from application to approval. So, you're looking at 3 years tops from the time you get married until she's free to move around the country as she wishes. Also, she's not exactly getting shipped back to her country because her American husband says so. If you decide to divorce her, she can still make a case that the marriage was lawful and you simply discovered you weren't a good couple along the way. The court is going to listen to you and listen to her. All other things being equal, the court will likely vote in favor of the American. But, if it's not as siple as your word against hers and let's say she brings witnesses to tell the court the marriage was valid and she was in love with you, she was treated unjustly by you, etc. and you have none to support your case, then the court may let her stay. Also, don't forget regardless the court's decision on the immigration issue, you will have to pay her for the divorce. I assume you work, she doesn't, I assume you have property, she doesn't. The law is very straightforward you may end up paying her dearly depending on your situation. So, all in all, she may not be the one crying if the marriage falls in the cracks.
2-3 years? I guess laws may be different, here in Florida it is 5. We do have a bigger problem than most states with immigration, being so close to Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica, and close proximity to South and Central America. I know here in Florida people wait 5 years after marraige for a green card.
Regarding prenuptual agreements, by the way: I happened to have a very interesting conversation with a state judge rom one of the United States. (Met him on my trip to Odessa.) He advised that generally a prenuptual will not work if you bring a Russian woman over to the US. All she would have to do is claim that she didn't understand it and its likely that it would be thrown out of court.
Have the document translated into Russian and notarised by a Russian lawyer, then have her sign it in his presence with Russian witnesses, and that will keep you covered from all angles !!
Be just a bit magnanamous though fella`s if you choose to take this Pre Nup' route.
Put in the Pre Nup' that if she quits the marriage she is at least entitled to a ticket back to the FSU. That is only fair and proper !!
After all, you have taken her away, the least you can do is help her go back !!!
you know all you guys are sad. all you talk about is bringing your russian women back and then what? my suggestion to you would be try meeting a russian women that can speak english-at leats enough to hold a job in the u.s. second find a women that has goals and encourage those goals and be supportive of her. from reading your guys letters it seems you want a house wife not an equal. treat them as an equal and with respect and they will do the same. give them a reason to suspect all you want is a house wife that's what you'll get. but could you then blame her if she wanted a divorce or waited until the 2-5 year waiti period is up. if i was in her shoes i would do the same. so a word of advise to all you guys if you want some assurances that she'll stay with you when she's here treat her with respect and dignity and someone you feel is your equal and not your slave and i guarantee you'll live happily ever after.i know this as a fact because i live in wisconsin around wisconsin dells which is a big amusement park town and entertainment are and we have a lot of russian and ukranian women here and they come here for one reason to make a lot of money and send it back home because the american vs. russian dollar is @$10:1.
