I don't know how many had the chance to see a 30 min show on MTV last Thursday night based on one guy's experience during a love tour to Russia. The title was: "Sex 2K from Russia with lust". There was no sex or lust involved. The whole show was a quick snapshot on love tours to Russia through the eyes of one guy. The featured city was St. Petersburg. Either MTV chose the wrong kind of guy for this show or otherwise the type of person who goes to these tours is the typical loser (surprise!). Late 30's, lives in Florida (nothing wrong so far), sort of a womanizer (the sleazy, loser type), doesn't know what the hell he's doing in his life, didn't know better to get to know a few women through email before he got on a plane, got himself a package tour and simply showed up at the airport the day of departure. MTV showed this specimen and another one entering their first social saying to each other: "let's go for some meat that's why we are here anyway" and then the featured specimen was filmed going around from woman to woman throwing out his stupid sleazy lines behaving in a way that raised the question: "what is the purpose of all this?". What is the chance of getting to know somebody for the purpose of starting a long term relationship leading to marriage when there are 30-50 women for each man in the room and assuming that you get to know somebody what is the chance that you can start a relationship based on mutual respect when that "special" somebody sees you going around kissing and dancing with 20-30 other women, collecting phone numbers and setting dates for the next days of the tour. Well, it may sound like every guy's paradise, but why spend $4-5K and 2 weeks time to go to Russia when you should be able to do the exact same thing in nightclubs in this country and keep the money. And, what about the women who are recruited for these socials ... Agencies have to top each other on a key competitive ratio, i.e. number of women per man, so they'll do anything to get as many women packed in a hotel conference room as the room can possibly fit. As a result, they end up getting any woman on the street willing to spend a couple hours in a dark room with a bunch of middle-aged, aspire-to-be Rodolfo Valentino and have some decent food and snacks accompanied by mediocre drinks.
Anyway, at some point someone tells the featured moron to pick one girl and stick with her so that he doesn't waste the whole trip and the moron decides to follow the advice. He picks an admittedly cute 19-year old chick (the only cute girl in the whole show). But, then they show the guy one month later back in Miami Beach outside a dance club, wearing pearls around his neck, trying to hit on two overweight women in an SUV and saying in front of the camera that he's keeping his options open, he's not saving himself for that girl (the one he was determined to stick with), he doesn't know what he wants to do ...
If this is not the definition of "loser" what is then? By the way, although the title of the show alludes to the possibility of having lots of sex in these tours, the featured guy admitted he didn’t get any despite the effort. I've heard it several times in other forums from both guys and women that people who go to these tours are losers who don't go to Russia to find another kind of woman instead go to Russia to find any woman ...
In my opinion, the best way to find a Russian woman, the right kind of woman is through email and regular visits to that country or even better through spending some time in Russia and getting to know women there and the culture of that country. It requires determination, and time and financial commitment. Through my own experience, I realized that it's not difficult at all for a foreigner to meet good women in Russia (and there are many extraordinarily pretty and good women in that country) and Russian women respect sharp, experienced, gutsy guys who know how to approach and attract a woman and don't need someone else to make these arrangements for them. Just my personal view ...
Im completely agree with everything above, just one short comment on a statement I dont agree with: <<<Agencies have to top each other on a key competitive ratio, i.e. number of women per man, so they''ll do anything to get as many women packed in a hotel conference room as the room can possibly fit. As a result, they end up getting any woman on the street willing to spend a couple hours in a dark room with a bunch of middle-aged, aspire-to-be Rodolfo Valentino and have some decent food and snacks accompanied by mediocre drinks.>>>>
A year ago we had the same tour, taking place in our city. Beleive me, there was no need to get women from the street. There were hundreds of them willing to attend those socials. I thought our phone will explopde from phone calls. We started making lists of women, in order to have the statistics of how many of them are going to be at three day socials. We said to all women that they are allowed to arrend only one day of a social and started write down the phone calls. In two weeks I had a three days scheduled. More then 500 ladies for each day. And those ladies were not from the agencies, they read an ad in a newspaper. We had to make a restriction for the agencies, allowing them to invite only their best ladies, we had to make age restrictions, but all the same, by the end of third week we had 600 ladies for each day. When the socials began we had to put the security near the nightclub, because crowds of women were trying to get inside.
So what I am trying to say here is that usually agencies dont have a lack of ladies for those love tour socials.Agencies dont need to compete with each other in number of ladies...Ladies rush there as if they are crazy. ;-))managers of the agencies had to stay at the entrance and keep the doors closed .Thats what I've seen myself.
It sounds like when the Beatles came to America … I thought the celebrity status westerners enjoyed in Russia the first years after the end of cold war had faded. What in your opinion is the motivation behind the rush that you described? Are westerners still enjoying the glamour of the past among the Russian female population? Is it “gold rush”, i.e. women thinking that anyone who has enough cash to make the trip from the U.S. to Russia must be rich? Curiosity? Did all these women really think someone would get a shot at them during these events? Didn’t they know the statistics?
Women filmed by MTV during the socials were passive, sitting and talking to each other. When a man approached them, most didn’t speak English and also seemed very shy. What was your experience with the social in your city?
By saying that agencies try to get any woman on the street for these socials, I meant women who are recruited at the last moment like you mentioned (meaning not women already in agency databases). I have heard of agencies distributing flyers in the city and things like that to ensure maximum attendance. How can you tell that some of these women who call in and ask to be placed on the list for the socials are not literally women of the street?
Well. first of all let me say that that was the only social I've ever seen in my life and after that I never attended any, even when it was a part of my job.
I dont know what was the reason of this rush...may be because it was a first social in our city. But as far as I know, socials in Moscow, St.Petersburg and other big cities also get the same number of ladies. Ladies of all ages-from 18 up to 58 are trying to get there. Why? Its hard to say in general,,,each of them have their own reason to come there.I think that most likely its just a naive beleif that she will be the one that those guys will immediately notice in a crowd. Its a chance. As far as I know, sometimes people really find each other during those events. Its better to see once then to write hundreds of letters. So what men usually do-they just collect the addresses and phone numbers, and then start communication with those ladies when they return back. I dont know what reasons make girls attend those socials, knowing in advance that it will be 1manX80 women ratio. I know that some women try to get to those socials each year when they take place in the same city...Some of them can come just for fun, I am sure. The other have serious hopes. I remember the phone call from one lady. She was telling me that her daughter talked to a foreigner during a social and he asked for her phone number and then never called back. She was really disappointed and asked me, why this man is not calling. I didnt know what to tell her ;-)
So,there can be thousands of reasons as to why both foreign men and Russian women do it. I guess, everybody does what he wants and finds finally what he/she was looking for. They get what they choose.
As for women from the street,,,if you'll put it that way, I dont see any difference bertween those and girls that applied to the agency before. The only difference is that one paid for joining the agency somewhen, and the other got the free invitation for the same event.
