I was writing to one girl for a long time and doing very nicely.....no requests for money or anything like that THEN she disappeared. Fiance.com informed me she had all the hallmarks of a scammer...refusing correspondents additional photos etc so they had deleted her information from the site. She was fine with me but I put that one down to experience. Since then I have, over a period of weeks, been writing to 3 ladies in St Petersburg and, despite excellent letters, certainly from one of them, they simply disappeared off the site on 22nd December. My 'where are you' e-mails remained unanswered. Since then fiance. com have informed me they had de-listed their partner agency in St Petersburg because agency people were writing letters on behalf of girls. I was gutted because I had an excellent relationship with one of the girls and we had agreed to meet in a couple of months......fiance.com have given me a forwarding e-mail for the de listed agency. It annoys me that no warning is given by fiance.com.....girls or agencies are just de-listed and you are left hanging in the air. Anyone else had the same experience? Thoughts / comments??

Only comment I have is that it seems to be a good idea with ANY service to take it to an email or better level as soon as possible.
Fiance.com is great and we don't pay per letter so writing THROUGH them can continue indefinitely - but writing direct emaisl prevents what you describe from happening.
Of course if you are depending on a translator - or she has no home computer, what I just described my be difficult. That's one of the reasons I've ONLY considered women who speak English very well.
If truly the agency was writing her letters - maybe you DIDN'T actually have an excellent relationship with a lady.
A very good point, were you having a correspondence with the lady or the agency (not so) Happy?
Perhaps they were scamming but not scamming you, perhaps they were scamming fiance.com on the pay per letter thingy!
Yes there is a lot to be said for individual email addresses, I tried fiance.com for a month but I had too many concerns, little if any proof of continued communications to prove to the Consul if/when it comes to fiancee visa time etc.
I don't know about the UK, but emails are not a requirement of evidence you need to support a continued communication with a lady from the FSU in the US. Just a sample of letters and cards I submitted along with phone records is enough to verify and establish a consistent relationship with a lady. So communicating with your lady via Fiance.com is a good an economical way to search for a lady from the FSU. It especially sidesteps the need for the expense of a translator if your ladys' skills in english are not very good.
There is fraud in regular email addresses, if there wasn't, scammers wouldn't exist in the abundance that they do.Hell just take a look at some of the real pro's that scam, some have as many as 20 email addresses listed under scam sites.
Nasfan,
The more evidence of communications then the better for a UK visa.
I'm going to be applying for such a visa very soon, using a cheap telephone calling system her number doesn't apppear on my itemised bill, perhaps less than 5 times over 2 years have I actually called her number using the expensive system and 95% of our communications are via the telephone. There's a small number of emails between us but what will definately go in our favour is that I have travelled to her city on 9 occasions and I've retained all my travel documents and bank statements itemising credit card payments in restaurants etc. and ATM withdrawals.
At least when communications are via email, rather than merely online, you have some form of identity, an email address, IP originator(s), yes, as you say some ladies have multiple email addresses but how do you find this out, you Google search the email address you have etc. What can you search on the lady when it is merely an online communication, very little!
They are a couple of services in the US and I am sure you may have some in the UK. I use Tel3 here in the US. It logs each phone call, time, date, and duration of call, itemizes in monthly statements for evidence of calling for K1 visa. At 10 cents a minute it is a little more expensive than some calling cards but the few pennies more for the evidence is worth it.
Nasfan,
From UK I use www.telediscount.co.uk and whilst my bill is fully itemised it only shows the UK access number I dialled, a UK number, it doesn't show a +380 number but at prices 10% of those of our national telephone company I can live with it!
Martin
For guys from the States, Tel3 shows the originating call phone number and the recepients phone number. Call duration and actual billed cost and breaks it down monthly, You may find some cards that are cheaper, but the call quality and disconnects are pretty much nonexistant. Plus there are no connect fees and other crap and it's a one minute rounding charge. Though they do charge connections to cell phones a bit higher rate, which I think is 12 cents a minute. (I fully disclose, that I do not own operate or own stock in Tel3, this is not a commercial endorsement, and no fee was paid to me to recommend Tel3)
What happened to good old 'snail mail'?
-not for all of the communication perhaps, but early...
Handwritten letters exchanged between private addresses are a bit outside the traditional scam areas.
-but not totally impossible af course....
I did warn you mate !!!!! But well done for coming back here and saying the truth ..To the rest of you he only said it how it is... Its fact and what I have been trying to say all along..
So to the owners of this website who keep banning my IP. I stick my middle finger up to you. YOu dont like people knowing the facts... keep banning people , and corrupting... If this go my way western men will not come back to Ukraine and you will all go out of business...
Vanechka - NOBODY says that every attempt here will lead to success. There are all sorts of pratfalls along the way in this or ANY thing worth trying.
Though I have had fun with my lady - it may or may-not work out in the end, If it fails I will simply pick myself up, brush myself off - and GO SEARCHING AGAIN.
One thing I WON'T DO is come crying to the forum sobbing about how "Those bad Ukrainians are all terrible. Booo Hoooo!" I won't come rubbing my hands together in glee when someone honestly talks about a filure or raining on everyone else's parade simply because I, and a few of my countrymen couldn't make it work.
I'm COMPLETELY AWARE of the cultural differences - and the problems that are present - snd I will deal with it.
WE"VE ALL TAKEN YOUR SCARY WARNING.
Now run along and annoy someone else.
Maybe there is a brand of automobile that you don't like and you can find a forum of people dedicated to that brand that you can annoy.
Im not crying on this forum. What i am doing is tryinmg to help people liek Steeleman waste another 5 grand.. If he hadve listened to me from day 1 and not listened to bloody dads army here spewing the same old cliched protocol that agencies use then I could have saved him some time and hassle let alone money...
Im here to balance up the equations, All you do is state the positives to novices.. And novices need to be warned of the sheer reality. And to all you novices here be awaRE i get banned from this site regularly... Funny that isnt it???? My ip gets blocked?? Why ??
pretty obvious isnt it...
Just ask Steeleman what he thinks now of Ukraine???
The fact is it wont work... In the end the russian girl will go back home..
And its time people knew the psyche of the russian woman
Vanechka,
I tried to help Steeleman from losing another 5 grand too, he refuted any suggestion that any part of it had been his own fault.
So, did he write to and select those ladies or did the ladies force him to, did he or the ladies apply for his UA visa and who forced his sorry ass onto the aeroplane, oh yes, that would have been the ladies fault also!
Can anyone explain to me why marriage agencies in the Ukraine is big business? Why do Ukrainian women want to marry foreign men so desperately? Finally, why does a young pretty Ukrainian woman in her 20s want to marry an older foreign guy in his 50s or 60s? And what makes these foreign guys in their 50s or 60s think that the young pretty woman is marrying them for whom they are and not because of their stability in life financially? Just trying to understand it all!
First Lizzie...I don't believe your characterization of Ukrainian women being desperate to marry foreign men to be accurate. It has been my experience that, at least with the women I have spoken to (not just the two ladies that I have had a relationship with), they are just looking for a relationship…if it happens to be with a foreign guy, so be it. I know in the case of my fiancé, if she had found a local guy she would have been satisfied. I know this as she has asked numerous times if I thought there might be some way for me to earn a satisfactory income in Ukraine. She would much prefer me to emigrate rather than her. As to the reason young women wish to marry foreign older guys…I have found it is just not foreign guys. The times I have been to Ukraine I have seen a number of women in their twenties with children with a Ukrainian husband in his mid forties to early fifties. Why this is, you would have to direct your questions to them, any of the guys here would just be guessing.
Thanks for answering my question Bill. Dont get me wrong, I am a foreign woman myself but not from Europe. From everything that I have read here, it seems like marriage agencies in the Ukraine is big business..billboards advertising them, tours for foreign men to meet Russian women...seems like someone is making a lot of money with these agencies. Just type Ukraine in google and a lot that comes up is agencies advertising Russian/Ukrainian brides. They might not be desperate but there certainly is a demand for it. What is wrong with Russian men? I can see why some men have problems with American women but again, we're generalizing all women in America to be the same which we all know is as true as all Ukrainian women are desperate! You say that Ukrainian women are just looking for a relationship whether it be with a Russian man or foreign man but what I am asking is then why is there such a demand for marriage agencies and tours for foreign men in Russia/Ukraine?
Exactly my point Martin. There is a demand for it and its profitable. Which goes back to my original question...why are there so many Russian/Ukrainian women(just look at all the women advertised in all the agencies) wanting to marry a foreign man? I dont think Bill is correct in saying that these women just want a relationship whether it be with a Russian man or a foreign man. As humans, we tend to generalize and I agree not all women are desperate or want to marry a foreign man just like not all American women are "witches". But am I right to say that generally speaking most Russian/Ukrainian women are looking for foreign men to marry because of financial stability and maybe cause foreign men treat these women better than their own men? I also notice that on these websites, a lot of these women(mostly women in their 20s and 30s) are divorced and with kids? Maybe another reason why these younger women dont mind marrying an older foreign man is because they know that they and their kids will be treated better elsewhere than in their own country? As for the foreign man, could it be that this is their only way of being with a younger, prettier woman? Just questions that are mulling around in my head!
