Although www.absoluteagency.com have come under intense scrutiny over the past years, and has, at one time, been blacklisted by honest dating agencies, more recently their owners have told 'The New Criminologist' they have cleaned up their act.
Try as they could, their worthwhile efforts have not stopped the organised mafia groups from posting false female profiles on their web site, it is revealed by 'The New Criminologist' today.
Alleging that the girls, who claim to be seeking love via the Internet, live in Ukraine - because it offers easier, and more open access than Russia, to Western males - even a cursory glance at the email addresses prove origins in Russia (RU) and Kazakhstan (KZ).
Following the track-tested and common approach by internet dating scammers, law enforcement including the FBI, Ukraine and Russian police, say that this could be one of the largest blanket frauds of recent years, and they are determined to stamp it out.
'The New Criminologist', who is working with these law enforcement agencies, advise men:
'Men, seeking a bride via Absolute Agency, should see red warning flags posted when an attractive, young woman, merely posts: “Email me”, sometimes with just an email address under her alleged profile picture.
This indicates that the scammers are fishing with a large net and posting 'profiles en masse'.
'The profile photographs, especially if they appear to be professionally taken, are usually pictures, downloaded from the Internet of professional models.
'Often the scammers will crop these professional photos to remove the copyright details of the photographer. If men receive further photographs of the woman, once they have established contact, they must pay particular attention to any evidence of a photographer's copyright details which may still exist, or crudely airbrushed over.'
Other hints that a fraud may be planned, are lengthy letters, written in good English, telling all about how simple and healthy a home grown lifestyle the woman leads.
Further red flags that the letters are a con will be that many letters will be numbered, i.e.: [1]. [2] Etc.
When subsequent correspondence shows a missing number, it means that the writer is sending 'template' emails out to dozens of men - merely changing the male's Christian name each time - and, in haste, have skipped a letter.
Refusal, or hesitation of the 'woman' to release a telephone number on which she can be contacted, is a large red warning flag.
This particular group of mafia scammers will soon be sending emails suggesting that the man uses their own 'recommended' visa/passport/travel ticket agency, and that money for such purposes should be sent via Western Union cash transfers.
As 'Sveta' writes:
I always think about our meeting. By the way I know a travel agency here, which can organize the trip to another country very quickly. They make visa, foreign passport, buy the tickets and even find a hotel where you can stay there. I think it will be a good idea to use the service of this agency. What do you think about it?."
The FBI strongly advises men travelling to the Ukraine or Russia, to thoroughly check out the woman's bona fides, beforehand. Organised mafia scammers operate in groups, and it is not unusual for Western males to arrive at their destination, hoping to meet their new love, only to be robbed.
If you have made such a contact via Absolute Agency, please write to us at 'The New Criminologist' and your details will be passed onto the FBI.
Ironically, I actually met an American/Ukrainian couple while I was in Ukraine last year that met through Absolute Agency:) They are married and living in the USA now. It was the a big joke for them because the guy was fully aware of their reputation.
what absolute agency has to do with it? as far as I know, they have normal dating site, they charge for membership, not per letter.
Anybody, go register on match com, ehormoney or any other big dating site. you will get hundreds of letters from Russian, Nigerian, Indian, German, American... scammers
I have not heard anybody was screaming about it. Why? are they to big? I suggest to shut down any personals web sites, icq, aol, and close internet. So some people will not be scammed:)
That's a good idea... To persuade US government to "close" Internet as a source of scam, spam and terroristic activity spread. And then to open some "alexnet".
I could get a good buck on this!:-)))
And ban all telephones to prevent nuisance calls, ban all postmen to prevent them delivering junk mail, ban all cell phones with crazy frog ringtones and so it goes on.
Should a post by a law enforcement agency, which I just happened to copy and paste here, to assist men from being 'robbed', be criticized by the moderators of such a forum just because it happens to refer to one particular personals site?
Perhaps one should be criticizing the scammers and not the ones trying to prevent them.
felicedate,
I'm not sure if you're referring to me but my previous post was not directed at you nor indeed have I read any criticsm against myself.
My previous post was directed at a post previous to yours in this thread whereas a publication from the FBI came under criticsm for happening to name a particular site whereas they are warning guys of particular profiles on that site.
What should the FBI do, ignore the problem totally or tell guys that we know where these scammers are lurking but we're afraid to tell you for fear of criticsm?
Martin, they see the smoke but are too stupid to find the fire. It is insane trying to accuse such giants as absoluteagency, yahoo personals, kiss.com, date.com in anything. They have enormous numbers of profiles, hundreds employees and absolutely no need to enter fake profiles, send fake letters or whatever.
we all should admit at last that there are many INDIVIDUAL scammers who can use most dating web-sites regardless of the security level they have. This shit exists but it is hard to eliminate this.
absoluteagency is a good old advanced service with quite good mailing system and many other advantages. It is not their fault that they can rip off those scammers from they more than million profiles.
felicedate,
Perhaps the best thing the FBI can do, indeed we all can, is to warn others, I thought that is what they're trying to do, warn others!
Martin
'Organised mafia scammers' that's funny :)))) Usually mostly that's an individual scammer or a small group like 3-5 girls... Too small money to get mafia interested in such business
there are a lot of girls who have no idea what the Internet is... Just come over here and meet them... online dating is a crazy invention. Olga is write, they should close all dating websites and leave only useful info for travellers like AlexFriend
