ok the question i have is can i send a text message to a ukranian cell phone from mine? and if so how do i do it? when i was in ukraine my lady's friend was getting messages from siberia, germeny and russia. i have cellular one service and i called them and asked them and they said they didn't know.they told me that some people could send them and others couldn't.
im with cingular and I text messages to Russia without a problem and I am in Florida. BUT I have quad band service and my phone will work just about anywhere in the world. Dont know if that makes a difference or not. What service does she use?
i don't know all i know is she has a motorola razor and it has a gsm card. the same thing as mine because when i was there i used an extra gsm card her brother had and my phone worked there.
If you are in the U.S. you can text to Russia or Ukraine from a Cingular or T-mobile phone. On Cingular it costs $.15 per message to send and receive; on T-mobile I think it's $.20 per message. You might have to try different dialing patterns: +1380....., or 011380.....
You can also find out what service provider she uses and text to her from the company website for free.
Verizon does not text to those countries; I don't know about Sprint, and I've never heard of Cellular One. If you want to text to her get a cheap Cingular voice plan with a text message package.
Having a quad band phone doesn't make a difference if you are in the U.S. T-mobile mostly uses only one band, while Cingular uses two. A quad-band phone will allow you to use your phone with the appropriate SIM card in other countries.
