Ladies and Gentlemen,
Can anyone offer advice on how best to travel to Sevastopol? I would like to visit a woman there. Is it close enough to combine with a visit to Odessa?
Thanks.
Hi Philly,
I live in Sevastopol, you can also visit Odessa bt using the train , its about 12 hours , or about 8 hours by car,To Get here from the US Aerosvit is proberbly the cheapest, from JFK to Kiev and then to Simferopol ,
Turkish airways are a good option ,
E-mail me on chris.campling4@btopenworld.com with any questions you have
chrisc4,
Thank you for your information. Sorry this response is so late (death in the family). I plan to visit in late july-early august, three different women in Odessa, Nikolaev, and Sevastopol. I am most hopeful about the woman in your city. I'm trying to figure the best way to do this 3 city itinerary in 10 days. I'll email you at your address listed above. Thanks again...
Philly,
Get yourself a round trip ticket from home to Kiev/Borispol and from www.ukrainefare.com/internal-flights.php buy yourself one-way tickets from KBP to Odessa or Simferopol and returning to KBP from the other city, Nikolaev is somewhere between Odessa & Crimea thus a couple of taxi rides to/from Nikolaev.
Whats the point in flying into Kiev when he is intresting in seeing ladys in Sevastopol Nikolaev and Odessa ? better to fly in to Odessa or Simferopol proberbly Simferopol, Turkish airlines will fly you straight in to either as he can visit his first choose in Sevastopol and then go on to Nilkolaev and Odessa by either car or train, but thats slow and waists a lot of time and in the summer it is not so easy to book tickets at the last minuite if he is not certain of his plans
Chris,
It seems that his destination city will not be the same as his departure city, as Nikolaev airport does not have any commercial passenger flights he is left with Odessa & Simferopol but his will not have the cost advantage of a return air fare to/from the same city nor indeed with the same airline thus why I suggested Kiev, he can get a cheap return ticket from home to Kiev with some domestic connecting flights to any airports he likes.
Martin,
Unlike some airlines,Turkish airlines dont screw you if you fly into one city and out of another, and the price of internal flights is flights is going through the roof, it just cost a friend nearly $150 to fly down from Kiev to Simferopol,
not so long ago it was $60,
you can book most of the internal flights on line and either have them sent to your home or collect them at the airport, its the cheapest way,
there are no direct flight between Odessa and Simferopol, there were some last year but they canceld most of thhem at last minuite due to lack of passagers,
the train is Ok but very slow and often arrive in the middle of the night,
off to Kherson today by car for that reason, wounder if I can get there without getting pulled by the old bill ?
Hi again Chris,
I recently paid USD184 for Kiev/Dnepr/Kiev + USD15 for ticket courier to meet me at KBP. Yes the fuel price has sent ticket prices up but the US Dollar rate at the moment is a significant advantage for Europeans.
I could fly direct into Dnepr with Austrian Airlines (but Austrian don't fly from Birmingham) or with the Luftwaffe (who do fly from Birmingham) but just check out the prices as compared to flights to KBP, it is significantly cheaper for me to fly via KBP and still pay USD199 for the domestic connections.
But don't book domestic flights online with Aerosvit, Aerosvit really are taking the p1ss with their online prices!
Is there anyway to use Wizz airlines to get to the final destination? I understand you can fly from London to Sofia, Bulgaria for about 40 Euro, for example.
Scott
Brandy,
Wizz Air are a low cost carrier and within the European Union there is an 'open skies' policy that allows any such airline to fly wherever they want.
But that is only within the European Union, to destinations outside of the EU you need to go with a recognised scheduled carrier, not a loco.
For all EU low cost carriers, but the fares can often be higher than with a recognised airline, go to www.skyscanner.net
Chris, Martin, and Brandy,
Thanks for all the suggestions. I don't speak Russian, so I'm a bit reluctant to take the train. But it's still a possibility. I'm going to look into Turkish Airways/Airlines and see if it can work for me. The trip has been pushed back to late August-Labor Day weekend. The Odessa woman will be out of the country till September, so I'll hit Ukraine last. From my own flight experiences in Ukraine, the online prices for Aerosvit include a large markup for the travel agencies, above the price available if purchased directly from the airline while in the country. I'm traveling from Kansas City, so I've got lots of flight connections to make. All in the search for love!
Philly,
The cheapest Ukraine domestic tickets available online are from www.ukrainefare.com/internal-flights.php
If you are travelling through Kiev/Borispol then for USD15.00 they will have a courier waiting for you in the arrivals hall with the tickets, it's the cheapest method of their ticket delivery and they're always there to meet me.
Chris,
Is it practical to take a taxi from Sevastopol to Nikolaev?
My itinerary has changed, and I won't be visiting the woman in Odessa. I'll be in Ukraine for 10 days the end of August, and plan to see three women; in Kiev, Nikolaev, and Sevastopol. I've not been able to figure out an easy connection from Kansas City to Simferopol through Turkrish airlines. Since I plan to visit Kiev anyway, I plan to just fly into Kiev.
So, please advise me. I'm thinking that I can fly from Kiev to Simferopol, and take a taxi to Sevastopol. The trick is getting to Nikolaev. Do I take a taxi, or train, from Sevastopol or Simferopol, and how do their costs compare? Or do I fly round trip Kiev to Odessa, and take a taxi to Nikolaev?
Whoops! My lady friend in Sevastopol, who had been writing these incredibly romantic letters, suddenly decided we were not compatible, and so I won't be traveling to Sevastopol. She was indeed my favorite, but I had the feeling too perfect, and I'm still not sure if I was being scammed. I prefer to believe she was real, and perhaps I wrote something that she felt we suddenly were not compatible. Ah, well, this international dating is certainly a challenge... But I am going to at least give it one more try this August.
I plan to see two other women, one in Kiev and one in Nikolaev. I am thinking to fly into Kiev, and then visit Nikolaev by flying to Odessa and then a taxi. Does this sound like the best route?
