Saw four ladies there, two of whom I had been writing extensively for about 3 months, and two whom I exchange just one or two letters with. The first lady was one of the long term correspondents. Absolutely gorgeous website photographs, but had gained some weight and looked very different from the photographs. We had two meals together, and in general she was very engaging and fun loving, and I think serious about at least dating me. She was a bit stubborn with the waittress, and it's something I've noticed about a fair number of Ukrainian women...that is to say, they can be a bit argumentative. Difficult to accurately generalize about an entire population, but one of the interpreters mentioned it as being a Ukrainian trait. Lady #2 was also a long time correspondent, and she was very serious about dating me and seemed very nice. Great body, but I just wasn't attracted to her. Her photo was a lot prettier than reality, but that's not really any different from American dating websites, is it? Lady #3 was very pretty, just like her picture, but was fairly impatient to the point of rudeness. Pretty girls aren't always the nicest ones, are they? Lady #4 was as pretty as her photograph, and seems really sweet too! Just met her for one dinner, but am definitely going to make a trip back to see if we can spend some extended time together. Could be a home run, Gents! For the record, I'm a professional, well off but not rich, good looking but not like a model, older in age but very young in appearance. I've heard some more Ukrainian opinions about the likelihood of success in finding a wife this way, but i'm not trying to start a new thread that way. My experience with a Ukrainian woman was like your number one lady. She was not a profesional person herself but very beautiful. She was somewhat rude with people. I thought maybe it was because she considered herself above the wait staff because she was with an American. Maybe it is a Ukrainian thing I don't know. I tolerated it because I did not know the language and she did all the ordering for the both of us. Another reason I tolerated it was because she was not rude with me. especially back in the hotel room if you know what I mean. She did pull the "I lost my cell phone scam" scam on me but and I bought her a new one. I was in Dnepropetrosvk and Crimea. Where were you? I live in the midwestern USA, and am therefore avoiding Ukrainian seaside cities like Crimea, which have more than my city could offer a woman in terms of natural beauty and water sports. Kharkiv is nice and landlocked, and quite cold in the winter, so I think the girls are more happy to get out of town! Yes, they're all ready to encourage a handout, but I think it's just natural in a relatively impoverished country to be like that. I read in the Kyiv Post that the average wage in Ukraine is only $200/month! Apparently prostitution is a respectable way for college girls to earn a living there. I suspect some of the Ukrainian argumentiveness might stem from the lack of the rule of law in their society. If you don't continually stand up for yourself, you perhaps get bulldozed on an ongoing basis. Just a guess from things I have observed and talking with the natives. My perceptions of the 5 ukranian women i met up with in August 05 were virtually the same as yourselves. This does seem to confirm a rather negative trait among the Ukrainian women i have met. Even when talking to the maid that came to clean my appartment -the Ukraine lady i was with at the time put her point of view accross to her in a rather confrontational style.Whether i could live with this type of personality on a daily basis is a different matter. No doubt some body here will say that there are women with these type of negative traits in England or the u.s. Yes there certainly are. I presume that you spent a maximum of a few days with each, any lady knows that a guy doesn't travel to Ukraine for such a short period of time, they're not stupid and if you don't display a serious attitude towards them then you cannot expect a serious attitude in return. I visited just one girl, 13 years younger than me, prettier than her photos, tall, slim, calm, polite, serious, visited her family, made love on the fourth day. Visited her again a month later, made love for 4 hours - perhaps instintively we knew it was for the last time - and her fiancee visa got denied for "no proof of relationship", struggled with consulate, mailing them proof of relationship directly and thru congressional offices, to no avail. And they all dress to impress. It was not uncommon to see a tall beautiful blond walking down the street in high heel shoes and a mini skirt. I went to Ukraine to meet one woman so I just looked. It is a big city with millions of people so I think the odds are good you might find someone there. I'm looking for a wife, and if I don't think she's the right girl for me after one or two meals or meetings at the girl's city, I call her and say a polite good-bye. Most of the girls find it easier to use an interpreter, so in effect, the meetings are chaperoned. Of course, if a girl would like sex, then I'd be happy to oblige, but it has not happened during my trips to Ukraine. xtc11: I'm looking for a Ukrainian girl who is mellow, and I think they are out there. The last girl I met seems really nice! Martin and august: I agree some girls might object to me meeting 3-4 girls on a single 10 day trip. However, if I have been corresponding with them and established a correspondence friendship, they are agreeable to a three day visit. In fact, they are usually pretty busy with their own affairs during that time. They usually do not ask whether I'm seeing other girls, sort of a "don't ask, don't tell" facade, and I don't think they mind so long as you don't rub their noses in it, and also they can tell I'm seriously looking at them as a potential wife. Actually, the one girl I really liked had exchanged only two letters with me, and I didn't contact her about a meeting until I was already in her city. One woman on a prior trip did get indignant about being a "backup girl", but I think most of the girls are realistic about a guy devoting the money and time of one week to meet with a girl he's never met before. They universally acknowledge that you cannot know if there is a mutual attraction without meeting in person, so it's a big waste to devote a trip to one woman and realize she's not the right girl on your first meeting. Then what do you do for the rest of your trip??? If I call the girls on short notice, most of them say, "oh, you're here? Great! Let's meet!" Still, it is too early in the courtship to apply for the fiancee visa. I plan to return when she is free to spend lots of time with me, and then we'll see. :) How was it that the consulate denied your application for a fiancee visa for lack of proof of relationship? What proof did they require? Does SHE think that she has met a guy that she thinks may be the one or does she think that she has met a 'player' could could only be bothered to occupy 2 full days with her, despite no guy in his right mind ever travelling to FSU for only 2 days, thus she is not taking him too seriously and in the meantime she continues to write to a number of other guys and, one by one, these other guys are coming to visit her and probably for longer than 2 full days. However, she only accesses her email at the agency, and does that only every two or three weeks. The other circumstance was that she actually cancelled two consecutive dinners with me before we finally met late on the third evening. She was working 13 hour days during that stretch, which was my own fault, since I gave her no prior notice of my arrival. My next step is to visit her for several days, either in a fun third city, or in her home city. In this case, I think I would have her full attention in a third city. She'll realize my sincerity when we next meet, if we are compatible. I am assuming you all went there on your own, and not with the package tour that this site offers. I assume too that if you went there on your own it is safe or else you wont be writing in this forum. It is really a bit darring and a big gamble to go there for a few days and then meet with somebody and assuming both parties committed to each other for a more seriously relationship but on the side the girl keep seeing of keep writing to prospective relationship. The more I read the more I get hesitant in making a travel over there and continue writing. Many a lady will write in early letters that she does not believe in a long correspondence thus this could be the type of lady to select and to attract more interest from the right kind of lady you could write in your introduction letter that you plan to visit Ukraine, or wherever, in 2 to 3 months from now if things work out between the two of you. This should deter most of the professional letter writers. Ukraine is as safe as anywhere else in the world providing you take the same precautions of not walking down dark alleys at night etc. Only 5% of the guys that write letters will ever travel thus the lady could be writing to 20 guys but only 1 will travel, do you want to be that 1 or one of the other 19?
