I've been in touch with a lady from Nikolaev through this site and had planned to meet her there. She has suggested I use her agency for a translator but I can't find it in google.
She gave me a phone number for the agency. I have a bad feeling about this.
I have visited their office in Nilolaev. They do exist. They are located in the same building as AFA affiliate Slavgirl. In fact there are 4 agencies all conveinantly located in this building. One stop shopping! :) Streli is affilated with Army-of-Brides agency which is on the black list. I had some printed out profiles of some ladies I wanted to meet which I found on Army-of-brides. When I produced these profiles to the agency manager they told me they were not her girls and did not know them. I asked if I could look at their data base of ladies then. They said yes but a $15 fee. That was new to me. Never heard that one before. I refused of course and walked out. Small office with about three computers with girls busy writing letters that we think are coming from the actual ladies. They all seem uncomfortable that me and my friend had come to their office directly and wanted to meet some specific ladies. Good luck. I think you will need it. Have a plan B ready to go.
Because, a reputable marriage agency would have own website, which comes with own email addresses, such as admin@hornybrides.com. An admin2006@rambler.ru, on the other hand, would mean that someone is running the show from an internet cafe.
Mr Hungwell,
Would you take a business seriously if it had a Yahoo or Hotmail address, the western equivalents of mail.ru and rambler.ru, or might you believe that this is someone pretending to be a business but working it from their bedroom or wherever?
Martin,
I just was curious ,because i have no real internet experience such as you. Only enough to send ,reply, search and scan photos. But i noticed that most private e-mailers from Ukraine that write to me use the two internet servers you mentioned above. If they are private e-mailers then they really have no choice but to pick any server they want for the internet which to you would be a western equivelant, am i not correct? So really you cannot say a private e-mailer is suspicious if she uses a so called (brand name server)?
Mr H,
I'm trying to understand what you are saying but there is nothing wrong with a lady, an individual, who uses mail.ru or rambler.ru email, much the same as there is nothing wrong with a westerner who uses hotmail or yahoo.
I have read previously to beware of FSU ladies who use hotmail or yahoo but my now wife had/has a yahoo address but there was quite a reasonable explanation for that, she had travelled whilst working previously, she is absolutely fluent in English, and being unsure if she would be able to connect to her rambler.ru address from the west she opened a yahoo account. But, there does remain a question mark over FSU ladies who may use a hotmail or yahoo etc. address.
But these ladies, in the main, will be writing from internet cafe's etc. , they will not have their own PC or ISP thus it's onvious that they should choose mail.ru, rambler or similar. But a business should have it's own office, it's own PC, it's own ISP, normally it's own website thus they should have a website or ISP affiliated address, if they are working with a mail.ru, rambler or similar address then it's likely that they are working from a home or an internet cafe, perhaps they are not a business at all and indeed they may be rogues or scammers and one should exercise extreem caution.
