Guys, just found this site and need some advice. I had a Russian girl contact me Match. It didn't feel right but what the hell, I wrote her back.Well, now about 6 weeks of letters later she would like to come here (US) to meet me. She has asked for nothing and on paper looks great, what am I missing?
The chances of her getting a US visa are about zero and she knows it, perhaps the biggest scam is to get the guy to send the lady thousands of dollars for ticket, visa and cash to show to immigration.
I suggest that you agree to her coming to visit just to prove if indeed the next step is this most common of scams, DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY.
I'd like to bet that she has been or goes to the travel agents, she itemises all the costs and then moves on to ask you for money via Western Union.
What many a guy doesn't realise, whilst thinking with his penis rather than his brain, is that there is little if ever any need to send money for tickets, unless the ticket is for a non IATA regrional airline within FSU then these tickets can be booked and paid for by the guy, either online or via a local travel agent and the only person able to cash in the tickets is the person that booked and paid for them.
It would be feasible for a lady to get a visa to UK but the British national would need to sponsor her application declaring that he will financially support her and provide her with accommodation during her visit. This just happens to eliminate any need for $$$ to show to immigration which many a scammer will ask for.
The bottom line is, and I am aware that US visas are a lot more difficult, if a lady suggests a visit then agree but it will be a 'joint' visa application, a sponsored visa application. If she starts to fight and resist this then she is a scammer.
Good on you for asking Mikey, many guys don't, they just send the money.
I appreciate the help fellas. Last letter she said she would start working on the "details" which I assume will be the bill. This should be a good learning experience as I'm really intrigued by this whole concept. Thanks again!
A visa costs somewhere between USD50 and USD100.00 I think, you can source the cost of an air ticket via most online travel sites, please compare these prices to the prices she quotes, it's always good for entertainment :)
You are the man. She has contacted an agent and is "needing" some assistance in the finance department. Didn't reply immediately and she wrote again stating she loves me and can't live without me. Damn, I usually have to sleep with a chick for that line.
So if you were running the 100 metres and you're 20 metres ahead of the rest of the pack do you stop running at 95 metres and say 'fock it' or do you go the extra 5 metres to not doubt that you made the right decision to do so thereafter?
wrong analogy Martin,it's not a race, and as stated here frequently there are plenty of fish in the sea so as not to bother with dubious ones.If you have so many doubts about the the race.....simple solution.......DON'T START!!!!
Just go to www.womenrussia.com/blacklist.htm then click 'latest upsates' and you will realise for sure that she is a scammer, that site lists letter after letter after letter of scenarios such as yours.
I don't need to start the race, I've already finished the race and won first prize.
Yes, there are plenty of fish in the sea but from a distance it can be difficult to sort the fish from the sharks. You are right in that marriage is not a race, it is something very serious, but hooking one's fish can be a race, if you don't net her them another guy will and it is more often than not a case of 'first come, first served'.
During my some 5 years of FSU dating I had dumped ladies before crossing the finishing line and afterwards thought 'what if?', that is merely the point I was trying to make in my previous post, to eliminate any future doubts now whilst moving on.
Martin I'm well aware you have finished the race,I have been using this forum for over 3 years. The point I was trying to make was that if something seems wrong it probably is.There are enough resources available on the web to anyone to check someone.
And sure sometimes the question "what if" will arise, unfortunately thats life, very few get it right first time, but we learn by it,it's called experience.
Guys, couldn't find anything on the blacklist that looked familiar. She has given me her full address but great, what do I do with it. I'd like to follow this to the end if for nothing more than the learning experience (although she is disturbingly hot). Where do I go from here??
Mikey your phrase "disturbingly hot" probably answers your question for you.I suspect whatever advice you are given you will make your own decision anyway.Just be aware if you have doubts( and if you haven't then what are asking for advice for)then drop the babe and look elsewhere.
You have made the wise decision not to send money, a very wise decision, you don't need to decide any further because her letters will stop once she understands that she will not scam you and she'll move on to the next guy to try again.
