I'm off to visit the girl of my dreams (hopefully) during Christmas, just want some advice from those that have been there, about the do's and donts!
I would like to stay in A hotel, but she said it's better to get an apartment, is this true? any advice would be appriciated, cheers in advance
Nice hotels are expensive, very expensive! Apartment is the way to go and more private. Try www.rental.md they have many western style apartments. Ask for Marcela. She speaks English and tell her "Jay" sent you. Other option is www.adresa.md they have aprtments for business people and located within walking distance of center of town. Please remember only cash in either case ( Euros, Lei or dollars).
For 65€ you will find a nice appartement downtown, you can ask Aliona at starsvetmd@yahoo.com from philippe of France,I was there last summer and found my girl tatiana from this agency trough Fiance.com,good luck!
Moldova has changed a lot since my first visit there, when it was just the place to nab a gorgeous, yet genuine girl from.
Now, girls sit in net cafes and marriage agencies, writing to and chatting with one man after the other, conveying mostly their dire financial circumstances, and begging for any amount of hand outs.
You can stay in a comfortable and secure hotel in Kishinev for $21 per night, which includes breakfast with a couple of eggs, fruit pudding, tea, toast with butter and jelly. Don't go to dine ins unless you speak some Romanian or Russian, or they'll bring you much more than you ordered and bill you for it.
DrKoop: Exactly where do you stay for $21 per night including all of those things you mention? I am aware of several "private hotels" but not one with rates as you mention.
jetmba, if you don't mind, can I tell you after 2-3 weeks.
This was a hotel a gorgeous Moldovan medical student took me to in my first visit there. Things didn't work out between us.
This was a hotel I stayed in when I went to meet another gorgeous medical student 2-3 years later, and was surprised to learn that their rates were still the same. Things worked out between us.
To visit her again, this was also the hotel I tried to stay in the third time, but it was fully booked due to some occassion, so I had to stay in one couple of blocks behind it, which didn't have attached baths.
I'm heading to Chisinau in next 10 days, and I don't want to find it booked. So, let me return from my visit, and I'll give you the name.
Ok?
