I'm new to this forum, but have plenty of experience trying to find the love of my life overseas. I'll quickly recap what I've done. Corresponded with woman from Ekaterinburg in 2000-2001. Went to see her in 2001. Nothing happened. I mean, nothing. Had to make an appointment just to see her. No interest in me. Didn't want to go to the airport with me for my return flight because she was tired. Never met her family. Corresponded with woman from Novosibirsk in 2001-2002. Went to see her in 2002. Meeting her family was the good part. The bad part? She was a bitch from hell. I go from an insensitive woman from Ekaterinburg to a royal bitch from Novosibirsk. We had a few good moments, the bitchiness overshadowed everything. At least she went back to the airport with me. Corresponded with woman Lugank in 2003-2004. Went to see her in May 2004 and again in September 2004. After the May visit, I thought things we're going well despite the fact her English was worse than I expected. A little bit of bitchiness settled in at times. Her family was great and they took me back to the airport when I was ready. I treated each woman with dignity and respect. I played the role of Mr. Romantic very well. I brought nice gifts for her and her family. Never once, did I try to force anything on her or make her feel uneasy. I was hoping to fall in love. Nope. Meanwhile, between these trips, I tried my hand on Match.com. What a waste that is. The women don't return emails. It's like they're only on that site just for grins and giggles and see what their "market value" is. I'm not the All-American hunk of GQ type. Just a nice looking, hard-working guy. I've never been married and do not have children. Dating in America is next to impossible. If you're not a jerk, jock, stud, have killer looks and/or have money...there isn't much out there for inventory, besides heavy-set single mothers living in Section 8 housing. It was such a nice feeling to fly into Russia and Ukraine and have that woman waiting for me at the airport. They look so much better in person than in their photos. It's like a dream come true meeting this women. I live in "small town America" where there are no prospects for me. Should I give the overseas thing another try? I don't believe in those tours where you travel to different cities and meet hundreds of ladies. Here are my reasons. 1. Way too much money. Overpriced. $3000-$5000 is a rip-off. 2. I don't think it's right to meet hundreds of hotties and choose the one you want like draft night in fantasy football. 3. If you meet several woman you like, you'll have to go home and try to correspond with each of them, and then take a few more trips just to decide which one is the best. All this does is eat away years from your life, delays a possible wedding day and builds up your credit card bill. I paid about $1000 to fly over there. The hotels are cheap. I spent a few bucks to meet the women I corresponded with on sites like Absolute Agency and GetMarriedNow. Avoid the latter. I believe in flying across the ocean to meet one person. Of course, this would happend after a few months of phone calls and emails. There's always someone who is better looking and/or a better match. I believe that you should stop your search once you find someone you like, and she likes you! Do you think I should try it again, and maybe I'll finally have good luck? I want someone who is marriage-minded and not someone who wants to hang out with a foreigner for a few days where the meals are free. I appreciate any and all feedback. I'll take all your advice, hints, suggestions, etc. It's to the point, where it doesn't bother me as much to be single. So, I'm not in desperate-mode. Hit Costa Rica or southeast asia. Get a feel for some different cultures. I have gotten quite a few proposals for marrige just by traveling around. Love will hit you when you least expect it. Go have fun and sow some oats. Also,David have you thought about Colombian ladies? They are hot and they are nearer to you I think than russia (unless you live in little diomedes in which case russia is just a short walk across the ice lol) But hey I wouldnt mind trying costa rica and colombia myself. I have tried both Columbian and Costa Ricans during my recent trips in Peru and was in Columbia about 12 years ago. The one thing i can say with certainty is that they are not as willing to leave their countries as Russians, Latinas are much more cautious about all this marrige stuff. A fact that you might find interesting is that Latinas are by far the best lovers on earth.
