Ok, a lot of you wrote that you were going to travel to Ukraine this fall. I like to hear experiences of any of you who've returned.

Here's mine: I was new on fiance.com. I spent entire summar writing to girls here, who were mostly from Ukraine. Then I wrote them that I was coming to see them in person, and they stopped writing. In these many months, I came across only one real deal: A 23 year old independent (not with agency) Russian girl from Ufa with a 2-year old daughter, but I could see it then, when I was surrounded by tens of as good or even better girls. Now, I miss her.

I posted mine a while back JB but here it is again -- I was writing regularly to about 15 girls just from Nikolaev, a few from Sumy, a few in between and a couple in Crimea. There was one who lived 2.5 hours from Lugansk but wanted us to meet up in Lugansk for a 9 to 5 shopping and sightseeing spree but that's all she would spare and wanted me to travel to her just for this 9 to 5 day. I flew to Odessa, rode to Nikolaev to the agency who called the girls but all the girls agency got a hold of refused to see me. I stayed the night in Nikolaev and revisited the agency again next day when the rest of the girls refused to see me too. It was shocking because some of these girls I had even sent flowers to and had been writing for 2 to 3 months. It just stirred up my travel plans because I wasn't expecting this. I spent another night there to get over the shock and readjust my travel plans. Since Sumy is located in diagonally opposite corner of Ukraine I decided to call the agency in Sumy. Girls were willing to see me but agency wanted to send a cab for me, place me in rental apartment, even send a girl with interepter. All of this made it too much of an incentive for these girls to see me. Dishearted by Nikolaev I decided not to go to Sumy. I called another agency in a town I already forgot the name of where I was writig to a couple of girls. One was out of town but other saw me for a 9 to 5 sightseeing and shopping with interpreter tagging along. I then ran off to Odessa where I stayed in my hotel watching cable TV until I left Ukraine. One eve there I met a girl on my own but she quickly came down to inability to pay rent and a hand out. Happy?

Whoa! Sorry to hear that, but it confirms my suspicions. Personally I think Finland is a good place (found my girl there). It's not former FSU (although they did have to mind the big bear nextdoor and there was some political influence) but the women are very good-looking and the least materialistic I've met anywhere in the world. It might not have the promise of easy success as the FSU countries have, but perhaps it delivers more. If you're in the area (Baltic republics, StPetersburg), you could do worse than a week in Helsinki or Tampere (never done that, but i've heard it's still much easier in the latter as Helsinki has had quite a big influx of foreigners).

To curmudgeon.Just a thaught, do you truly belive reading these posts here that finnish women are interested of that type of guys? I doubt...just being from Estonia I wouldnt recommend with their attitude to go to Nordic countries. Such "kontora" where you can buy adresses and send roses just dont exist. Romance tour to Tampere...pretty unrealistic:) And question. Beautiful girls or not, but do you realize what suffering, blood, lost land, deported people means to Estonia and Finland being neighbour of that paradize of beautiful girls and ugly babushkas? I think for finns its insult compare their society to soviet, you can try of course, but you can be hit by bottle of vodka or gin log drink!

I once delivered pizza to a house (with my BSEE degree in my back pocket) where guy had brought in a pretty Finnish girl. On the next delivery, I anxiously tried to get a peak at her, but guy told me she had gone. Also, a Lebanese friend of mine married a Finnish girl. Both made a handsome couple, but after a couple of years, she returned to Finland. I once delivered Chinese food to a house where guy had stepped out to get some soda or beer, and tatooed old American lady invited me in and said: "He keeps me liquored up all the time so I don't leave him." Guess that's one way to keep your woman.

I was in Moscow in mid-October. From there I visited my relatives who live in a small town in southern Russia. When I visited my relatives several years ago, they each lined up several eligible single girls for me to check out. But I wasn't interested in college-aged girls. Before my most recent visit, I asked my relatives not to invite young girls. However, since there are no jobs in that town, most of the young, single ladies (from 23 to 34) have moved to Moscow and St. Petersburg. So, I got to meet no one. Nonetheless, I had a great vacation. Before I left, my relatives promised to send me photos. I've gotten two so far. Both girls appear to be high maintenance. I guess I'm going to have to suck it in.
