Has anyone seen the movie, documentry following a Kazakhstani journalist in America.
Im going to see it on the weekend
Should be a good insight into FSU ways.
Quite funny from the clips Ive seen to.
Adman.....I believe it was mostly filmed in the Sates....it was to be a domcumentary about life in America for the people of Kazakhstan......and the main charachter is not a journalist, he is a comedian from Great Britian........ I hope you like it, I plan to see it also, .....soon
I have seen Borat before on other programmes. Hes some sort of celebrity in Kazakhstan.
Sometimes he has Kazak dancers with him, but you know, I dont think theyre very good.
He is a funny guy. I wonder if theyre all like that?
I did message some girls from over there and asked them what they thought, but they havent replied back yet.
If they were Kazakh girls they would be deeply offended, if they are Russians in Kazakhstan I won't know. Anyway Borat the movie has been banned in Russia for being offensive to monority groups.
i don't think hes ever been to kazakhstan. the kaz parts in his movie were filmed in romainia. Still very funny. But its unlikely girls in Kaz would know about him and probably wouldn't find him funny. In the movie hes speaking Hebrew I think (hes jewish).
The film is absolute Bilge. Though it should appeal to the infantile mentalatiy.
I am not surprised it has been banned in Russia. If He (borat) real name cohen had made a similar film about black people in Africa every black power, white hateing spokesman from Jesse Jackson to Louis Farrakhan would have been out on the streets shouting for it to be banned.
Daily Mirror (Uk paper) reported a week or more ago that Gypsies in the Romania village (where the beginning of the film was set) have taken on a lawyer to sue Cohen for having supposedly conned them into filming them for a documentary!
As anyone knows, gypsies are the biggest conners! There are over 4 million gypsies in Romania, and they have an Emperor, who is a 17 year old school drop out Rap (Manelle) star!
Gypsies originate from Central Asia (mostly Northern India, border Pakistan and Krystan/Tajikistan/Afghanistan). Nothing much to do with Kazak race! Besides Kazak has a lot of jews. Maybe that is wgy the President banned the film there!
Not a very rewarding film anyway - so why ban it in the first place!
The film is a comedy with an underlying story, that shows America for it really is, he quotes he is of to the US and A, the best country in the world, he is Anti Jewish, anti gay and very anti womans rights, the only Americans he likes is the white middle class, what the film exposes, is that the white middle class are the real racists and look down at him, whilst all the groups he despises, are actually the most endearing...it has nothing to do with the fsu.
If your up for a laugh, give it A go, especially if your a yank
I have just heard back from girl in Kazakhstan.
She seems very excited about the movie. Lots of exclamation marks and wrote in capitals, Do they always write in capitals? I am sure she liked it a lot, but I couldnt really understand what she was saying.
If it is filmed in America it is probably going to be of more interest to those in Kazahstan
but Ive heard its a truly great movie anyway. Looking forward to it.
illy, movie will be much loved by all America because movie show Kazakhstan is great supporter of George Bush War Of Terror. America is not Alone.
Also it has great promotion for Kazak culture, Already Kazak swimsuits for men are in shops,
I can send you one if you cannot buy. You will look good in it and score all chicky babes.
The film is a good piss take of the US (and A) attitudes to different cultures and peoples, funny if you don't take it seriously, if your offended then you need to work on your sense of humor!!
The mens swimsuits are excellent !!!!!!!!
The film is number one in popularity in America right now, because it is quite funny. Borat is a fictitious character who could have been from any fictitious country, and it was not meant to show what people from Kazakhstan are like. He picked that country because hardly any American knows anything about that country, and the movie is about "Borat" deceiving real Americans into believing he is from a real foreign country, and filming their reactions at his outrageous behavior and customs. The actor says it is about how ignorant Americans are about foreigners, and how their own prejudices permit them to stupidly believe there are ethnic groups as ridiculous as Borat. It has absolutely nothing to do with Kazakhstan in reality. It's just about making filmgoers laugh, and make money for the movie industry.
