Maybe those girls, who send "canned" or dry emails just aren't too good of English speakers/writters? They just can't express their thoughts well enough in English and have somebody prewrite a few responses for them, simply as a result of a language barrier.
I've been thinking about posting my own profile on Bride.ru but after searching the internet for a while now, I found so many negative comments about this website, so I'm starting to have double thoughts. You guys here in this forum don't seem to be too happy with the site's services either. Maybe most of the men whose profiles have been there long enough are disappointed with the ladies with bad English skills and won't reply if I write them?
I haven't done this before (I mean dating sites), and it's all very new to me, so I'm very confused.
Hi Masha,
Wherever a lady may post her profile she should explain regarding her level of a foreign language. There is no excuse that she may send repeated pre-written letters, that displays that she simply can't be bothered to write, is not respecting the guy enough or is so busy communicating with so many guys that she hasn't got time to write to each one individually.
But this works both ways and if a guy sends repeated pre-written letters then the same applies and the lady shouldn't take him seriously either.
Before a non foreign language speaking lady may embark upon sourcing a foreign guy then she should put some thought and research in to how they may communicate with each other. If she has advertised that her language skills are poor then the guy should understand this when he responds and he too should put some thought and research in to how they may communicate.
Perhaps the lady may need to utilise an interpreter, there are some free online 'electric' translators that whilst are far from perfect can be used effectively providing that one translates it back to their own language, before transmission, just to check the translation.
You have nothing to be afraid of, just don't allow the guys to take you for a ride, it is said that only 5% of the guys that write letters will actually travel to meet the lady, and don't take the guys for a ride either.
Thank you for such a quick and detailed reply. And for your advice too. I guess you are right, a lady should indeed put some thought into how she will communicate with a foreign man. It's just that some people try to appear better than they actually are. Does it necessarily make them professional daters and scammers though?
I don't usually take guys for a ride:-)
And if he doesn't want to travel to meet me, that is HIS problem. Why would one pay money just to exchange a few emails? If I understand everything correctly, the website's survices are not free for men.
I’m concerned about whether or not Bride.ru would be able to provide me with a decent guy to write to. And I don’t want my profile to be posted all over the internet, at all their affiliate sites.
Hi Masha,
If the guy is writing directly to the lady at her email address then it costs him nothing and many an 'idiot' will get a thrill out of communications with a pretty lady but do try to register your profile, if via an agency, one that doesn't charge the guy per letter, for each letter, this will put many a genuine guy off also.
Do you really want to spend your life with a guy who pretends that he is better than he actually is? Put it this way, a guy can talk about his house, his car etc. but if he starts to boast about them, or indeed talk about his wealth, then the chances are that he is full of shit and perhaps you may tell him so :)
Masha,
You could try www.elenasmodels.com . It has a very good reputation and a guy needs to pay something like USD150.00 for 6 months membership, that should be deterring most of the 'idiots' that write just for fun.
Martin
Masha you are on the right web site. go to www.naidimuzha.ru and register. so gentlemen, ladies complaints about numerous letters that lead to nothing too.
The problem is that I can't find out if the agency is charging a guy per letter. To girls they only offer free registration and browsing men's profiles (also for free). Does bride.ru charge you per letter? Is there any way I can write my direct email address to a guy in the very first letter? Or do they have special people checking to make sure I don't do that?
It's not all about bragging about what a person has, it's more about consealing their flaws. Everybody does that. I do that, you do that--it's human nature. Well, unless a guy is really full of shit:-) But I guess I'll be able to tell that after having my first glance at his letter.
Masha are you advertising bride.ru here?:)
go to the web site and read how they work. we donot know if brid.ru check message text for email. I do not think so. the same on naidimuzha.ru taht is Russian side of fiance.com. you can send your personal emial in first letters.
Masha,
I wouldn't recommend bride.ru , they steal profiles from other websites and if you are pretty they charge the guy a higher price to write to you, which will limit the number of men for you to choose from, and if you are less than pretty then you'll get all the idiots writing to you for a cheaper price.
Bride.ru website contains a lot of bogus fake profiles of "model like women" who do not exist. They have no anti-scammer policy and profiles are submitted on-line without checks of the identity.
They have a "Gold list", "Silver list" and a "Free address list"( which by the way is impossible to get on unless you look like a "dog").
Obviously ( in there opinion ), ladies that make it to the gold list are the most attractive, silver ones are ok and free ones are either too old ( 40 +) and are unattractive but women in the gold list are "too good looking" in some cases, it can not be accepted they are looking for western men..some are either "professional daters", "hookers" or just plain scammers.
I just don't buy that site...its not credible!
Western men pay a monthly membership for "Gold" or "Silver" ladies access.
Gold membership is more expensive than silver.
I think I paid $39.95 usd a month to access addresses of silver ladies a couple of years ago and most of the e-mail addresses I got for the girls did not work or no response at all. I only did this for 2 months and realised what a load of crap it was.
You can by individual addresses of ladies at I think $10 usd each also.
I also encountered a few scammers from that site too.
My opinion of bride.ru is for a Western man, it is an over priced site with no support full of bogus addresses and fake profiles and scammers mixed with some real women which are impossible to find without going through a lot of crap first.
Hi Masha
Because you know English so well and have access to the internet, I think you are in a very good position to look for a foreign husband.
Women with poor English and no internet are reliant on agencies for their translation and computor access.
The problem with agencies is that it is not in their financial interest for you to be successful. Once you have found a husband or correspond privately their income stops. Agencies screen all mail and block the transfer of details of email addresses and phone numbers. They also cause many problems when you try to meet someone.
If you place your profile with Fiance.com directly as an individual, you will be able to give your email address to whoever you chose but it will only be given out at your discretion.
The men here pay $50 per month so they can write to the ladies.
I think for a woman of your abilities it would be a good place to start.
I am interested Masha, why you are looking for a foreign husband?
I got you. I guess I've started with the wrong website. They say the Silver gallery's available for free now. Although I hope I won't qualify for that one! From what I've seen there are some dog-like looking girls there as well:-) But I think I'm not going to even try to regirter at that site now that I've heard so much negative stuff about it from you guys.
Thanks for a clarifying responce Aussieman!
Thanks for your good words about my English abilities.
That¡¦s what was afraid of¡Xagencies checking the mail and not letting the personal data come through. But I¡¦ll definitely try the Fiance.com site you¡¦ve recommended.
It¡¦s so good to get some feedback from the guys who have been already using dating services. I¡¦m sure most girls from those websites don¡¦t have that, and it¡¦s their biggest problem. That¡¦s why one should always do some research first, before starting something new.
I¡¦m not looking for a HUSBAND just yet. A long term relationship that may lead to marriage maybe. You see, I¡¦m young and I have my carrier goals, which I put first. One of them is to go and study abroad (on a scholarship that I haven¡¦t won yetƒº), get a Masters Degree. And I thought that it would bee good to have someone I already know well waiting for me there. Someone I can visit during a school break or just talk to on the phone whenever I feel like it.
I thought so. And I'm not going to register there. I'm going to try the sites you guys wrote instead. You've been such great help to me!
Ok, I've got to run, I have a class that starts in half an hour
THanks again.
Thanks for your good words about my English abilities.
