Hi Y'all,
I've been talking to a Little Lady in Crimea. She's been using an Internet Cafe. Things have been going great. Her English is minimal, so the Cafe Owner ( I think ) helps with Translation. I've booked my Flights and she's organised my Flat. It's True Love.
Now I'm told that the Cafe Owner wants 100 Dollars off her for her Internet Account. Access costs her 1 Dollar and each letter 3 Dollars ( Clearly a rip-off ). I have had about 10 letters.
I wont send any money as I'm going over in 2 weeks to see my Babe !
Any veiws Gentlemen (?) or Ladies, of course.
Cheers.
Personally, I think The Cafe Owner is having a Lark.
Andy,
What world are you living in when you say it's 'true love' yet the two of you haven't even met with each other?
Internet cafes operate like a normal business, they don't offer credit accounts, she doesn't owe the cafe anything nor is the cafe owner asking for anything, if anyone is a 'lark' it is her.
I have used internet cafes in Crimea and Dnepropetrosvk and they only charged me about $1 per hour. I agree with Martin that she does not owe him anything.
Does not sound like everything is going great.'True love', your 'Babe', maybe for you but does sound like something is not right. Your 'Babe' I presume told you about her internet account. Makes me wonder what kind of flat she got you and the price you are paying. Somebody's making money here and it ain't you!!
Have a great time, though.
One thing - not the only one thing - that would make me suspicious about all these ladies begging for money: why is the bill to be paid for always $100.00? Why never $87.70 or 123.50? It's a mistery...
Internet cafes are pay as you go. She couldn't have been $100 behind or paying $100 in advance. Soon as a girl talks about arranging visas, flats, etc., it should raise a flag.
Just wondering if you have returned from your trip Andy. I'm interested to know what happened. The $100 charge is vintage scammer so I'm almost certain if you did make the trip then you got trapped into their web. They probably charged you $100 a day for flat that cost $30. Probably $100 a day for her interpreter That should be $6 per hour. Etc Etc.... I hope you didn't go on the trip. If you did, I hope they didn't get you for too much cash. No matter what, post our experience. It's good for the new people and even us vets.
On a related point, just got back from Ukraine. Spoke with an interpreter friend there, who tells me she has private computer at her home, with monthly internet service at 40 hrivna, or $8/month.
Deano is correct the $100 bux is a wrought they pay to use as they roll same as we do when in cafe it will cost em 50/ 90 rubles an hour - where does the $100 bux come from ? its for her night out no doubt .
no mate tell her you'l send her a bunch of roses = good as it gets dont fall for the free card trick mate .
forget the interpretor tell her use Babel fish online translator = its free ! cost you zero tell her dive into google get the translator oh so easy we just put the interpretor out of a job .
tell her as i did with mine so long ago = learn english its not so hard !
she does all that without a whim = your on the road with a good girl = if not your her 9th letter tonight -------tis a fact .
of course they will try you on for a quid ( the last 6 bunnies all sent her $100 ea too hmm ) --------its so simple ay up to you say yes/ no simple !
everybody in charge of own pocket --a mug is a mug only if he wants to be a mug .
