I've been emailing with a lady. In one email she made what I thought was a really weird comment. Several emails later, we found out that her comment wasn't weird at all. The meaning was completely twisted in translation.
I'm wondering if anyone could share, perhaps most particularly, idioms, which do not translation well.
The word "Economist." We have Economists here, but they are a very different thing. All that the inivisible hand, and market forces. But, economist in Ukraine is a job title that is very like...accountant. But, they also have that title-- accountant. Even though I understand it, it still messes with my head a little bit, because I really have one idea about what an economist is-- and it is very different than theirs.
A funny one from the lists below: "Intercourse agency"
