Whenever I see an offer of English lessons, it brings to mind a story about Winston Churchill.
During the War, Churchill had planned a radio address to the nation. He circulated advance copies of the address throughout Parliment and in the academic community seeking comment in advance of the address.
An English professor from Oxford wrote to Churchill, "It is not fitting for the Prime Minister of England to be speaking in dangling participles and ending his sentences with prepositions."
Chruchill wrote back, "This is simply the kind of criticism with which I will not put up !"
I thought that was pretty humorous. I thought I'd share it with you.
Oh man ! I'm exhausted. Any idea how long I had to think about it in order to fit a double negative and dangling participle into a sentence that ended with a prepostion ?
I hadn't quite realized the hard you worked.
But now I do, since you still seem to be exhausted seven hours after posting.
I see that you are working hard now on leaving letters out of words ("prepostion").
Check my past posts. I'm the expert in that category. (I can do it almost without working up a sweat now.)
