Trip started out badly but got better after the first 1/3. I went to meet Tatiana and after 1 day realized she was not the one. No chemistry and just I was not physically attracted. It was no problem for me really. I was anxious to meet more women. After 4 days of wandering Bishkek, trying to meet the few other ladies I had met online (plans B-E)I was ready to come home. Then as a last straw I called the only bridal agency in town to give it a shot. What a difference in the interest of ladies and the level of seriousness. I spent my final 5 days with Irina whom I have great fondness for and appear to have compatability with. All in all the trip was interesting. Not to sound pretentious by any means but I am a very physically fit person. I am 6'3 235 lbs and have pursued bodybuilding for the last 5 years. Here in the US, no big deal. Sure I am a big dude but there are many bigger and better fit guys so I don't particularly stand out. But I swear that in Bishkek, I was the biggest freak in the city. I have never felt like a bigger rock star! Arnold is my hero and I am in no way even close to his greatness but that's what everyone I met called me. I quit wearing t-shirts and tried to keep a jacket on most of the time because I don't think that it is necessarily a good thing to stick out like a sore thumb in a city such as Bishkek. Trust me, I am a very humble man but it felt great and I got my 15 minutes of fame. Now I am back to ordinary Joe. I only mention the above because it ties in with some of the things I learned from this trip. I outline below: 1) Not every girl in FSU is chomping at the bit and eager to run off to America with a man. In fact, I found less serious girls than non serious. These ladies are smart and for the most part traditional as far as morality goes. Every girl I met lived at home with her mother and or siblings. 2) NEVER be completely honest with the girls you meet by telling them that you have met other ladies. I was honest in telling about 3 different ladies that I came to meet Tatiana and things did not work out but that I am still interested in meeting the "right" one. After hearing this they wanted nothing to do with me. In the future I would never mention anything as far as whom and when I meet regarding other ladies. Just say I come to meet the right lady and leave it at that. NO NAMES OR EVEN THE SMALLEST DETAILS. 3) When you meet the right lady she will do her best to impres you (just as I do her too) and should stay with you the entire time, cook for you, clean, iron clothes, be attentive, be sexually interested and genuinely try to make you believe that you are the most important person to her in the world. Sure, I understand that if I marry Irina that this "honeymoon" period will eventually come to an end but it is no different than when meeting a lady here in the states. Except I have never had a lady genuinely try to make me feel so special and be so submissive and non feminist. It felt great and time will tell how things will turn out. I really like her and no red flags yet. I would recommend trying Bishkek if one is interested in meeting VERY conservative and traditional Russian ladies. This is a fairly remote country and is much less modern than Ukraine and Russia and the ladies tend to be much more submissive (or should I say non domineering) and modern. It is primarily a Muslim country and has only about 20% Rusian orthodox. I am not supportive of the muslim religion but they do run a tight ship and have more strict law and cultural beliefs than many FSU countrues. Good looking, clean, smart, strong and not dominating ladies. That is what my impression of a typical Russian lady is from Bishkek. They may not have the vast number of "10" scale Ukraine ladies but this is not what I seek. Just a lady that is not fat, has a decent body (few months in the gym can tighten that right up) and a fairly attractive face. Bishkek is a well hidden secret. Cigarettes are 75 cents a pack, good vodka less than $10 a bottle, dinners under $10 and nice apartment for 8 nights was $300. Cab ride anywhere in the city is less than 3 dollars. I could go on and on but must close...

johnwill, You appear to have learnt a lot, enough to advise everybody else that all FSU ladies are the same, in such a short trip to a very small 'backwater' of the FSU. Good luck to you :)

johnwill, Glad you are back and good health!! So much for the best laid plans of mice and men. Do you remember...... "Tatiana looks great on paper and all of our correspondence leads me to believe that she may be the one" I chuckled and a great many others when we read this line from you. Finding a girl is harder than finding a pin in a haystack!! Even when a guy meet a girl several times your still not completely sure! It is a very confidant statement. Great that your trip turned around. I have been on a couple that I got nowhere. The experience I think is most valuable. John, at Moscow airport, since you did not leave terminal, no visa needed? Did you just get off plane and went to transit area while others who were going to stay in Russia had to go to customs area? This happened one time on connecting flight from Kiev to Los Angeles. I had a double entry visa since I was in Russia a few weeks before. I didn't know if I needed it for sure or not. I agree with you...don't give any free information, generalize as much as possible. I usually tell girls that a friend was going to show me around the city or wherever. Then quickly change the subject. That way maybe girls will think it was not important. But never lie to them, if they persist, quickly tell truth and move on. One last thing...guys be careful what you write here..lots of eyes and ears are around. I can attest to that. NO details and any dates of what you are doing, unless you don't care.

Beemer-I never had to leave SVO2 so no kind of visa needed whatsoever. And I knew I may have sounded foolish about Tatiana. And I knew in my mind that if there was no chemistry I would be all right in my search. But I had to convince myself that she was a very good prospect to justify the trip. Just my weird way of thinking I guess. My inclination was correct about her. I told her I was not interested and she would not leave me alone. She set up my apartment so knew where it was and her mom is friends with the landlord. After meeting a few girls from the agency a couple of them came to visit me there, including Irina. So after meeting with a translator, a lady named Natalya agreed to come over for a few minutes. We get to my apartment, the door is unlocked and guess who is in there? She would not leave. These two Russian ladies are cackling back and forth in Russian like two hens and Natalya leaves. Then Irina comes over, Tatiana will not leave and they go back and forth. She would not leave! I told her if we were in America I would either pick her tiny ass up and put her outside my door or I would call the police. As an America in Kyrgyzstan, neither were an option. So I told Irina that I told her from the beginning about Tatiana and that I am not interested and asked her for her help. She was being swayed a little bit by Tat that I am some kind of player and I finally put my foot down and said "Listen, if you want Tat then listen to her. If you want me then listen to me and do what I say and let's go somewhere else." She immediately listened and we left. Came back later (after grabbing my valuables) and Tatiana was gone for good. Talk about a fatal attraction!!

Johnwill, You are a good example of what happens when the girl you are going to see makes the arrangements for you such as taxi's or apts. Since you were going to be there several weeks AND chances were slim your girl was going to work out( sorry it didn't for you)You were at other persons mercy. I usually book my own stuff if for week or more and if for 4-5 days it would be okay if girl helps with arrangements. Just curious John, the chemistry thing....did Tatiana not look as good as her pics?? Is that why you were not attracted? Took only one day to know that..is that the difference from over several months of communication????

She was not as attractive and how does one describe chemistry? Kind of a hidden magic, I don't know. I really can't explain but Irina, I was not only more attracted to physically but just more magnetic with her appeal. God, I really wish I could put my finger on it. My theory: I think women have innate sizing up for men at a sub conscious level. They seek a strong man with strong genes that they can be impregnated by thereby giving them the best chance at a healthy and strong baby. Hence, survival of the fittest instinct. I also think men do the same as far as seeking a female that they can "breed" with and give their genes to what they feel is the srongest woman to bear their child. Mind you this is all at an instinctual level and only plays a part of the overall attraction toward a woman. We are cultured and live in a civilized world based mostly on Judeao-Christian principals which sets us apart from animals. So we humans are at a constant struggle with instinctual behavior and learned behavior to do what is best for for society. This survival of the fittest instinct is how the entire animal kingdom works and we have only been removed from the animal kingdom for a few thousand years so we still retain much of this primitive behavior. That is the only way I can explain it. She just did not seem a proper fit. Sorry to get all deep but for some reason I am in a deep mood of thinking after reading some Stephen Hawkins earlier. Also, it was actually after a couple of days that I concluded this but started to feel it shortly after meeting her. And I was only there 10 days not several weeks.

Johnwill, I think a big part of chemistry process is the attraction because that is what is in your mind before the girl opens her mouth and starts talking and that is where chemistry stops or continues to be evaluated. One wonders what would have happened if Tatiana was more attractive than her pictures. My thought is that chemistry would have started off better....don't know if you would admit to this. Can you imagine the attraction you would have if you met with a supermodel???

I do admit this that she was not as attractive as I would have liked. However, I think other factors come in to play. But yes, physical attraction is a big part.
