So... I read in these forums so much about Agency ripoffs, from fake ID's to dodgy translators to Skitzo Taxi drivers. So, do you go with Agency or not? I know some of you would have done this so I'd like your feedback..... Do the research on some smaller towns and Cities that havent been trawled (as much) by the Agencies (is there any?) Run a private ad in the local paper of the town for the woman you seek. Is this more or less risky than an Agency? Do you mean to contact an agency directly and ask them about their girls? I have never done that other than contact one in the city you are visiting. See thread 'new approach' for private contact through ads. In these internet sites most girls have agency e-mailing and some have private e-mails(no agency). I have never in almost 10 months had a private e-mail girl amount to anything. Its a bit like reading the news paper, its all disaster and dooms day but that is not most peoples experience. Its just more interesting to read and write about. Most of the girls are real and fantastic, the taxi drivers are fun to haggle with and generally the russian people are a lot more approachable than is made out. I have never used an agency to meet women so I dont know about them but I think your idea of a newspaper ad could be a good one. Many of the women do not have internet at home and so it would be one of the few ways to contact them. Most of the responces from adds would be sent to the newspaper mail centre, which would be harder to pick up from oz. But if you could have your email address in the add, I reckon it could be worth while. Just directly contact a local newspaper in a particular town that hasnt been overly dredged by the Agencies recruiting the girls there. Run a personal ad in this paper with a description of self and woman you'd like to meet, and also your email address. The question: Is this more risky than going through an agency? as in: will it increase chance of meeting sincere woman and reduce chance of getting scammed? Hope that makes sense. Adman, thanks.... yeah I thought perhaps it might be a way to contact a woman that hasnt been so exposed to the hype, scams and bullshit... thats all. Maybe its worth a try. I will need to go through the forums about suggested towns / cities that would be best suited for this. I have never been there, I was just assuming that their "set up" was same as in my Country.. .. Then I thought I shouldnt assume that. for instance. I KNOW they have an infamous NATIONAL newspaper... where-as in my Country, while we have a national paper, it is not widely known... so i figured Id ask the question. The city is not inundated with tourists, the girls in the cafes seemed quite amused with my presence. Maybe I just dress funny. An add in the paper could give you an edge. I think any town other than St Pete or Moscow would work. Funny thing, Volgograd is a city of 1,000,000 but no phone book. In either instance early communication is good. You want to acquire the ladys phone number and physical address as early as possible. If she doesn't speak English very well she has a friend that does, or a friend who has a child that does. So communication with her outside the sphere of influence with the agency is important. The agency wants to create a dependence with her, that it's not possible to carry forward any relationship without them. Which is nonsense. You want to start weaning her away from the agency influence. If she will only communicate via the agency, time to move on to someone else. One really interested in you will find a way to communicate with you outside the agency even if her english isn't so good. If she really becomes serious she will learn English, or she is learning it now. Agencys are good for early letter writing and translations, but as your communication progresses you want to move to direct communication with her. Don't really put too much into the levels of English listed on sites like fiance.com If she's listed as a 1-2 in English, what I've learned is they speak and understand quite a bit more English than they give themselves credit for. If you get to a level of a first meeting. Make sure the agency doesn't learn of it. For her sake. Many places you will stay will have translators at the apartments or as in Kiev where the first meeting I had with my wife, There are plenty of students at the institute willing to do translations for 5 bucks an hour. In the beginning my wife and I used dictionarys to communicate with each other, which may sound tedious, but really became fun. When we communicated later we kept the meeting secret from the agency via our emails. We began to communicate mostly by SMS via kyivstar and telephone. The agency will keep pushing her to communicate with other men. That's how they raise their revenue. When my wife finally told the agency we had met in Kiev they pretty much kicked her to the curb. Asked me to quit writing such long letters to her and quit writing so often. So Agencys can be her friend but also her worst enemy. So it's kind of a fine line. So using Agencys in the beginning has a lot of value to both you and the lady. Though for it to become serious, it's my opinion, and only my opinion that you must start getting her away from agency influence. Good luck, the minefield isn't really all that bad if you get a lot of information here and other places. Good guys will get you the map to the minefield and make it a lot easier. Don't take the needle in a haystack attitude. That will doom you almost immediately. Take your time, communicate and learn as much as possible about the girls you want to me, prior to doing so. The very little I do know of Volgograd is that it used to be Stalingrad. I've read a hell of a lot of its past, know bugger all about its present. Now that's a place I'd love to see! Don't even bother with the likes of Yahoo Personals or other such international sites, if you go to www.womenrussia.com/blacklist.htm and click on 'latest updates' you can read for yourself the lairs of scammers but there are dedicated FSU non agency sites out there but it's a job to find them. Ever heard of 'looking for the needle in a haystack' Baz, well welcome to the haystack :) P.S. I actually had a bingle with a tram once in Bourke St (main drag CBD). The last thing I remember before getting hit was the little Viet Tram driver trying to turn his tram out of the way! As for Agency debate, a read a post yesterday by a guy (was it the stats man?) that received 45 emails from Agency girls and not 1 from an independent. Personally I reckon that is suspect. I know some of you guys disagree but it seems to me the Agency controls who contacts whom. So it would be a battle I guess to seperate the girls from the Agency, but I guess thats what's got to be done. Looking at it and what you guys are advising, in one way it's a positive. It helps sort the girls that are serious from the scammers and the "not so sincere". The engineers were out in the company car one day, which had NSW licence plates, and got pulled by the police who asked to see their New South Wales driving licence. You subscribe for one month and have access to all their ladies e-mail addresses, usually through internet cafes the ladies use. No agency involved. The majority of the girls are not Ukraine based, but Russian, and can communicate with you in English to some degree. Lots from Volgograd area. It's so much better than knowing that Egor or Tatiana the translators read your mail and paraphrased hers back to you. These stories of genuine guys from here travelling to Ukraine and girls not turning up, or girls saying they will be available for a days shopping trip turns my stomach. Suppose you could record every suitable girl and their e-mail and after your months subscription expires, then use them for an indefinite period of time till you find the right girl.
