My participation rate in forums goes up and own like a "whores draws", however I do object to freshmen being shot down in flames because they ask a dumb question to start with. IMHO the only really dumb question is the question which is not asked. Where I draw the line is with people who have been tot he FSU once and reckon they know it all or have never been and want to tell everyone how to do it. I don't mind burting their bubble for them from time to time as I think they are highly dangerous to the freshmen. I was tracking around Russia when most of these guys were still thinking about divorcing their former wives, much less even considered Russia or the FSU and the one single thing I can say with absolute confidence is that I don't know shit about Russia.:-) Good call Hammer. I was talking with one lady from Nikolaev, Ukraine for about 4 months on this site and we got along very well. Made a few phone calls, sent gifts (flowers, etc) on each holiday. She asked me if I would like to visit with her and her family, so I said sure and spent 2 weeks with her. I was honest, letting her know that I was not going to visit with other ladies and she really appreciated this. We spent everyday together, but her English is not so good. She didn't ask me to pay for English lessons, which I appreciate because it helped secure in my mind that she didn't want me for money. I asked one of her friends how much English lessons were. To confirm what she said, about $300 for 4 months, does this sound reasonable? My plan, if things did not work out between us, was to relax and visit a few museums, but things went wonderfully. She was very kind, but did not want to move too fast. I respected her wishes and she was very happy about this. At almost the end of our 2 week visit, she said she would like to visit Canada. I have done some research into tourist visas and the main thing they look for in Canada, as far as I can tell, is that the girl will leave Canada when she says she will. I am planning to bring her and her perevodchik friend over this summer. They both will have to return to continue university and I will return for a couple weeks in October. It was definately the most difficult trip that I have ever made. The culture shock and language barriers were overwhelming at times, but she was so kind and understanding about everything, that things very quickly became comfortable. She said in her profile that she did not smoke or drink, but I new better than to trust that. She does smoke and drink, but she was scared to tell me. However, she did not try to hide it. Our first meeting she asked me if I would not want to see her if she smoked. I of course said it does not bother me. We went to several clubs, Delerium, Shtorm, Illusion and a few others. I do have a question about the letters these girls receive at agencies. I figure there has to be some money in it for them, but I'm not sure how much they receive. As a VIP member, you can send and receive unlimited letters, so I'm thinking they don't receive too much per letter. Does anybody know approximately how much they would receive? Do the girls get receive this money for ever letter they reply to, or every letter they read? Anyway, this forum has been a big help for my research in preparing for my first trip to Ukraine. My own experience was similar to yours. Because I went to see only her, my girls attitude was amazing, couldnt do enough for me. Meeting her friends was great, they were very welcoming and friendly. Barbacue at the ducha was a real Russian experience. I dont think it can be over emphasised how much difference it makes to a womens attitude, if she knows you have come to visit only her. All the women in Russia have heared about the sex tourist and their families fear worse. My girlfriends grandmother would ring every morning to see if she was still ok and had not been murdered or sold into slavery. The women have to overcome a lot of fears and social pressure to have a relationship with a foreign man. But if they know they are special to you, they are very much there for you. Thats why I think to plan around meeting only one, makes so much difference. My girlfriend tells me her best friend is this week going to sign with an international agency. So I am hoping it means I left a good impression. So it really doesn't sound that out of line. As for the letters, the agency gets the money, my wifes agency in Mariupol was getting like a dollar per letter translation. She received nothing. I would think the legimate agencys aren't paying their ladies to correspond. I know she receives a lot of letters and if the agency makes money on each translation I can see how they would want her to come in to respond, or update pictures. I wasn't comfortable asking her if she received money from the letters, just as she wasn't comfortable asking about how much money I made. Her grandfather on the other hand didn't mind asking about my salary, but she yelled at him when he did :) Then we all drank another toast of Vodka to our meeting :) Man, that Nemiroff is some strong stuff. They sent me back with a bottle. Think I may use it to strip the paint off my house. It's good to hear about the price for English lessons. I'm not sure if in 4 months she'll be writing any novels, but it should help our communication a lot. Thanks again! hammer6832003 Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 5/14/2007 3:34:59 PM   well i cant say about english lessons my wifes english wasnt that bad but it needed help and from my exp when they know that you came only to see them thats a plus they know that you are serious and that your not playing games and im sure they have heard all the tales about me from other countrys as my wife has explained them top me they are very much aware of what goes on and what it said as far as the letters go when my wife cancelled the contract with the agency she was with they were very pissed they sent me a couple of letters that were not very nice and signed her name to the letter but they only received money if she read the letters if she didnt read them they got no money and she didnt recieve any money from the agency my advice if your lady can write and speak some english or what ever langauge you wish to speak go to internet cafe and write or call on the phone then you will know for sure what your lady is about and if she is truly interested it you hammer nasfan6 Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 5/15/2007 6:50:00 AM   Atos you will be surprised how quickly these ladys adapt and learn english. If she is serious and goes 4 times a week as in our case for $60 a month their english will improve exponentially. You will be amazed. Hammer your wifes agency sounds like my wifes, but as I've always said, the girls are a commodity for agencys and the only thing they really care about is how much revenue each can bring them, sad but true state of marriage agencys. I also got some shitty letters from her agency, but I blew them off because they didn't realize I was talking to her everyday by phone. The last 3 months we didn't use the agency before we met. The kept encouraging her to write other guys and she told them she was only interested in me. They really gave her a rough way to go. Not sure what country you might be from. It will have all the information you will need and the prices will be cheaper than using a service to acquire your visa. If the embassy is the same as the one in Chicago that I applied for my visa, it will list the time frames, cost and documentation you need. After my first visa I got to Ukraine the second one was easier, then on my third trip I didn't need a visa anymore. I'm surprised Canadians need a visa.
