I am quite excited but before I get into that my reason for this post is two fold. First, attitude in meeting women and second, any tips on Odessa would be appreciate. I have visited Russia a number of times and have been to Kiev, meeting various ladies over the years. Although I have dated American women too off and on, along with my foreign adventures, my luck has not been as some of the lucky SOBs :-) on this forum. I would be happy to talk about my previous experiences with anyone interested, but this post is about the future. Only once have I planned to meet more then one woman on vacation abroad. That was my first time in this type of search. Ever since I have focused on one lady, especially to make the most of the opportunity and in the event it worked out she would have my full attention the entire time. On the other hand, when things did not work it is always fun to strike out on ones own and see what one finds. Myself, I look at it as a vacation and if I meet my soul mate it will be the best vacation of my lifetime.:-) On past trips I have met wonderful people, most women included (all from Global Ladies), just not that one. In Odessa I rented an apartment from www.OdessaApts.com. Has anyone used them? A few years ago when I visited Kiev I went the apartment route and found this quite enjoyable. This site also has various excursions one can book, such as horseback riding. My lady was quite excited about that one. We have been writing for a year now (one year at the time of our meeting) and she has a fabulous sense of humor. Will it work out? The eternal optimist of course it will. :-) Past experience tells me though to make more of this vacation then just my woman. I plan to explore Odessa, enjoy the food and sites and on the off chance things do not work out I see there is plenty of night life. I look at it this way. I could just take vacation anyplace in the world and have a good time but this way I already know someone there, who I know I like by her letters, amd have a leg up on just a vacation by itself. My advice to any man is feel excited about meeting the woman you have been connected to through a site like this but also enjoy the larger experience of exploring a new country (hopefully with her at your side.. but if not that is ok too), a new city and make it memorable what ever occurs with your woman. I have found out quite a lot about Odessa on the web (god I love the internet as this much up to date info would not have been as possible ten years ago) but if anyone has any suggestions of places to go and see or eat I am all ears.. or eyes in this case. beemer18 Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 6/10/2007 6:32:35 PM   Minnesota, I was in Odessa last month BEFORE it got hot. Beaches is where it will be at. I girl I correspond with tells me everybody is there due to weather. Air conditioning a must. Stay away from Athena Mall (although I bought all my groceries from there) and clothing shops on Deribasovskaya Street(there are plenty). Personally, I have never planned to meet only one girl on trip, to each their own. I met several last time and had a good time. It is a walking type city center. I stayed about 1 1/2 blocks from main street. Some agencies there are quite expensive to meet with one of their girls. I met only girls I had been in corresponding with. I had found a couple internet cafes to kill some time and to keep correspondence with other girls or ones I would be meeting later in trip. Have fun and boy...its gonna be hot!!!!!! Hard to make any decisions without knowing about all girls you are interested in. I have girls in a couple different Ukraininan cities, soon I'll be able to make a good decision, seems one week it can be one girl and another week be another girl. Hard to figure out some girls, one thing for sure, when you meet you know if genuine or not. I have ended many after first meeting. Time and expense makes it hard to see only one girl. Plus, chances are very high it will not work out, if I know this, why am I spending more time with girl....there are many others out there..........of course only one man's opinion. Have you dealt with company before(apt), seems things always come up and either you don't get what promised or something is broken.... 'has AC and internet' but does it or will it work? There was a problem with the apartment I was renting, something about another decided to buy the apartment so it was not available to rent. They gave me a choice of a few replacements and one had internet, which was really an upgrade, for the same cost so I went with that. We will see what happens but I am positive going into it. I know what you mean about hard to figure out some girls. I've had various experiences, the last was two years. The problem was I could not figure her out. We met in Kiev, spent time in St. Petersburg and finally Prague. All of these were excellent vacations, but I just could not figure her out. About six months after we started writing she said she did not trust what the agency (Global Ladies) was writing and said she wanted to communicate other ways. I could certainly understand her concern but there needed to be communication some way. I tried calling her every weekend but often calls were dropped or I could not get through. The Ukraine phone system is not the best in the world. Sometimes she would write via e-mail but not very often. When she did she said she had to use a friend’s computer or an internet club at school. I just felt she should could have tried a bit harder if she was very interested in me. When we met she was friendly but whenever I tried to hold her hand or make it more then just a friendship she shied away. Now I can be patient, but by our third meeting I was hoping for an inkling of romantic interest on her part. Because of the lack of communication as stated above and no signals of any sort of romance when we were together I gave up. I started dating someone else at home for a while too so just figured we were not going anyplace. It was one of those situations were I liked her but one has to move on when one feels it just is not right. You need to look at the map of Odessa and be within 2 streets of Deribasovskaya st which is the main street. That means you are in easy walking distance to most of the interesting places. I personally prefer walking most of the time and there are lots of street cafes to settle into and watch the pretty girls or strike up a conversation. It is a real pain if you are further out as you spend a lot of time and money on taxis or get hot and bothered walking long distances. The other place is to be near Arcadia which is the amusement and nightclubbing area in summer. It is also close to beaches. I suggest checking out the 7km market and just walking around centre of town. There are free guide books with maps and attractions you can pick up. Acadia is fun for nightclubbing. From the map it looks to be a real good location. It is nice to know there are plenty of free guide books. One thing I enjoy about european towns is how everything is convenient walking in the town and Odessa certainly looks that way. You can bet I will enjoy obeserving the pretty girls...perhaps a coffee or beer and just relaxing to the talent (as a British friend of my says) walk by. Is it right next to water...by harbor???? Minnesota....I was 1 1/2 blocks from main street, couple minute walk, seems taxi's always charge high no matter how far you go. Mcdonalds always gives you an idea where you are at!! It looks a bit too far for a quick walk, perhaps a short taxi ride or if there is inner city transportation. Taxis are always expensive. The key to taxis in the Ukraine and Russia I believe is negotiating a rate prior to getting in. If you speak Russian that is easier or if you have a Russian speaking girl friend. :-) GeminiDreams Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 6/13/2007 11:42:09 AM   Acadia is about 15 - 20 min drive from centre. Its about 40 grivna to get there and probably 60 back if it is late evening. Always haggle and be prepared to find another taxi. They will often follow you and drop the price if there is competition around. Ekaterinskaya near opera house is an excellent location. Try dining at Mozart restaurant opposite the opera house. Food is good and not very expensive and beautiful outdoor setting.
