A whole year without going to visit her? Maybe that's why she decided on someone else. Why didn't you visit her during this year? I don't think any woman would want to correspond for a year without a meeting in person. If she's seriously looking for a Western man, she'll want to find someone who's serious about her, and serious about meeting her in person within a reasonable amount of time. She definitely won't want a long-term penpal. If you're not at least making arrangements to meet within the first 3 months, you should expect her to wonder if you're really serious, and not be surprised if she finds someone else.

Jack Im sorry to say but if I was a woman and some bloke wrote to me for a year and didnt make a move, I would send him a similar letter. In fact I would have simply stopped writing to you 6 months ago.

Jack errr Roger, You sound like just a letter writer. If I feel that is what girl is doing I drop them. I try to meet them, if I am really interested in them, within a 3-6 month period. You have to let them know how serious you are in your search. I have to agree with Addy on this. As far as finding someone local, if it happens it happens, it could just as easily happen a guy meets a girl back home. Do you really know for sure it was a 'local guy' that Anna met? Some girls just send out form letters for stopping correspondence, you were lucky.
