I happen tothink that the socials are good ideas - and frankly I don't mind being surrounded by a bevy of beautiful women who might find some novelty in an American man. My question is this - To anyone who has actually been to both Odessa and St. Petersburg (not you commentators who only saw MTV special programs) which whould be a better choice? St. Petersburg (which is only available yet at the beginning of October) or Odessa (at the beginning of November when the chilly winds may blow across the otherwise romantic beaches). Odessa is one of the biggest centers for the import of narcotic drugs outside the country of Colombia. St. Petersburg is Russia's mafia center or otherwise known Sicely of the North. Go to the socials, but be careful. Everyone knows there's a bunch of hookers in these meetings. I was with a girl I met through AFA this summer in Ukraine. I met her within one week after the initial call, so no time for get-to-know through correspondence. She turned out to be some sort of escort service also looking for a way out. While we had dinner, she got a call on her cell from AFA inviting her to one of the socials. This woman was also posting naked pictures for escort service on the web ... The agencies don't check the backgorund of the women, so any gal with decent looks can join the fun in these socials. It's amazing 2/3 of the men who attend these socials come back engaged. How many get engaged to hookers? that would be an interesting statistic. If you have correspondence with a woman and phone calls for a while and then meet her, you can be more sure about the person you meet. If you want to go to a social, it is best to avoid the big cities since this is wehere the hookers are. Go to a smaller city, your chances to meet an honest woman through a social increase substantially. Also, before you give her the ring, invest in investigating her background. It's best to spend 800 bucks and make sure you know whom you're marrying. jetmba. One of the tour companies bosts however that a typical tour of 30 to 40 people has 7 engagements. Regardless of which number is right and if either is even close - the numbers seem absurdly high. Are the men that desperate? Or are the women that convincing? I have to admit- I am a typical American man who happened to post a Personals ad on the internet hoping to attract an American woman. I am not rich or exceptionally successful - but I did list several advanced college degrees (MBA etc.) and professional licenses. I mentioned my hobbies of flying and scuba diving. Instantly I was hit on by a beautiful Russian woman 15 years my junior who was in America on a tourist visa. I don't know how she did it - but in two weeks she had me, and otherwise rational person, head-over-heals for her. I was amazed at how suseptable I was - and how quickly I developed an interest in Russian women and their ways (even after she dumped me). Now I want to meet another. Am I concerned that duped again? Hell yes. But I also feel that having experienced "the surge" of Russian feminity one I will be more wary. In any even I want to go. It seems you're not going there obsessed to get married, so that's good. I agree once you've experienced Russian femininity, you don't want to go back to the crap. I got the statistic from AFA, it may be off by a few, but the point is there are many who get engaged after one date. What I heard from this girl I dated recently and she had been to at least one AFA social before I met her (and I am sure she will go to many more) is that the men who go to the socials are old, fat and ugly and they're all looking for much younger woman. Now count that came from a party girl who's looking for someone with money. Her twin sister is sponsored by an American man, 43 years, she doesn't work and this guy sends her money to support her with no intent to marry. She also met this guy in a social, it wasn't AFA, she said Ukrainian Conenctions, which if I am not mistaken has changed name to East Meet West. I think most of the men who go to socials are indeed desperate and very lazy to write to some women. So, anyway as long as you know there is a chance you may meet hookers or escort girls looking for a way out, you're cool. If you email someone in russia and never have the gut to fly en meet face to face, then you are waisting your time. And if you fly to russia and only meet with one chic you been writing to for 6 months or more and find out she looks like a dog but in the picture she looks like a model, or you just meet face to face after writing for months and find out there is no chemistry, then I would be pissed off. I think the more logical approach is to go in person, even if you go to a social. But at least go with the idea of a vacation not to get engaged. If you meet someone very attractive with a very nice personality and you want to know about her you can do a background check and while visiting Russia try and meet her parents. There are many ways of testing to see what type of background this woman have, just do your homework with questions. You can also try and get laid with them on the first or second date, and if you score that means she is pretty liberal to Russian standards=slut. Remember many American woman will sleep with you on the first date, but they call them selfs normal and decent(double standards). If a Russian woman does not sleep with you that means she is decent. But if you try to score and she happens to be decent, she might get offended and lose her interest in you for disrespecting her. However if she is hot and you can tell she is a slut, then you need to do her good and enjoy yourself. What is worse a hooker that charges? or and American woman who sleeps with a diferent guy and doesn't charge?? well, it all depends if you get some or not. But they are both sluts in my book! Except the Russian might make money and the American will not.
