Think again. Save your money. Join a community group get to know your local ladies and you will do a whole lot better than you will in FSU. Take it from someone who went down the exact same path as you are going now. I wrote lots of letters, got many replies and made the decision to visit Ukraine to see the lady I had been writing to. Odessa and Kiev and i bet most other large russian cities are full of internet scam agencies where you pay to have a date with a woman. There is absolutely no chance she will ever leave the FSU as she is making a packet scamming western men along with her agency. They do this week in week out. The sad thing is although they make lots of money scamming western men their standard of living is quite low, but they just look down their nose and laugh at you once your back is turned and the next sucker gets off the plane. There will prolly be the same old people on this forum who will personally insult me tring to establish some sort of credibility for this site, but be warned guys... They friggin work here. The sting they have set up is elaborate, and do not blame yourself for falling for it. Just try and get out before you part with many hard earned thousands of dollars like i did. If you want more details or want to confirm for yourself that I have actually been there done that feel free to email me. (I have photos and letter copies still saved ) I am not here for my benefit this time, but If i can save one guy the financial and emotional trouble of getting in volved then it was worth it. Outside the big cities like Kiev and Odessa most girls do not know how to scam. However my search is not successful yet in terms of finding a partner or even sex partners, by and large. I have been here already for five months. So if you think you can find a loving wife in a week here, forget it. I found one once using a marriage agency. It turns out that the marriage agency prefers gold digger types and is in collusion with them. Such a woman can be a great actress and very charming. However there are red flags and warning bells from the start. Watch for haughtiness or shopping spree demands especially and dump such females immediately. Listen to what she says when she is angry. That is the only time you can be certain she is telling you the truth - I mean a gold digger or scammer. Such a female makes up all sorts of stories to make her life with you more stimulating and interesting. But beware, it is like being in a cult with only one member. The leader of the cult is your gold digger or GCG. But there are many good girls in small cities and villages, and most can’t speak English. I took out an attractive young female yesterday (English speaker) who would not let me pay for her cup of tea. That is unheard of in Kiev. I agree with beentheredonethat, if you use an agency you will likely get scammed, and if you marry a young attractive Ukrainian woman and take her West you are in for a world of hurt a couple of years later. But if you want to relocate to Ukraine or Russia permanently, then you can find a good person and for Gawds sake never take them to your home country if it is a wealthy one. Find one with a job also, gold diggers and scammers avoid paid work like the plague. I have to admit that the part of the job rang true with what I saw. Most Gold-diggers I heard and seen in FSU and Latin America do not have steady 9-5 jobs and if you really are uncertain about your girl being a GD just ask her about what type of job she wants to have. Haughtiness is definately another sign of a girl who thinks way too highly upon herself. Goodguy -- if that girl was legit it sounds like she was spooked and on the run. I don't think there is one guy who has been to FSU who thinks that can buy a girl. Although a lot of naive, social-misfit, first-timers get the shock of their life when they try it. :) Nowadays, physical attraction has a lot more to do with this marriage agency process. Consider this Match.com -- international style with girls looking for serious relationships where a man has to be attractive (physically, financially and mentally) to them, and also completely devoted and sincere enough to want to go through the entire painful Visa process and have the necessary income to support the girl's lifestyle ambitions entirely for 2+ years (most likely even more) without any additional financial support you would have from a Western girl. ... and then you would be a lot more accurate in what your getting yourself into. Lots of girls look nothing like their photos -- yet some are dropdead gorgeous and way prettier than their photos, yet they know it and it's going to take a lot more convincing to get them to leave with you, because a majority honestly are very uncertain about leaving their country, but they love to travel!! I will tell my sad story in full one day but for the moment I have not given up on finding a good girl in Ukraine. My story was trying to buy a young hottie for almost three years and it cost me an arm and a leg. My hottie would be diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder in the West and I think that this type of personality is prevalent with young attractive Ukrainian women. Many have been abused as children also, which helps to create NPD and other personality problems. My reward was to be hated, deceived and disrespected. I got no gratitude ever, and this is something that FSU women are mostly not capable of feeling. Gratitude is an emotion of the weak, is their attitude. Actually my woman showed no emotions at all, other than fake happiness, mostly irritated moodiness, and sometimes real anger. She never once cried in front of me. Apal = Yes take her West and in 80% or 90% of cases she will be looking for the trade up guy even while the 2 year countdown to Green card is ticking. I know several western man Ukrainian female couples here and the woman can’t trade up easily from such a guy. So they mostly stay together, whereas in the west most such marriages collapse. Maybe Ukrainian women are happier living in Ukraine anyway. The West is the land of dreams and smoke and mirrors. They believe the bullshine that you can be whoever you want to be in the west. The older mule is an embarrassment to be got rid of as quickly as possible. My five months here in Ukraine included four months mostly wasted in Kiev. I used Elena’s Models platinum membership and my meetings were 90% or so gold diggers and scammers. Admittedly I was mostly meeting young and single females. I was also cheated by Ukraine Wife Now. I paid for 20 meetings and got less than five. One was with a professional model who had never heard of Ukraine Wife Now! I am finished with marriage agencies for good. I use the internet free sites and have had several meetings and there are no more scammers there than at the agencies. I have moved to a smaller city, girls are more friendly and approachable and there are about 100,000 citizens for every native English speaker - or it seems that way. Now I talk to girls in the street, on marshutkras or in a shop or market. It becomes easier after a while and yields lots of dates. The typical first date I have here costs me about $1 for the girl. The biggest cost was $3. She was a Kiev style girl, even left before I paid for the bill. That never happened to me even in Kiev. Several first dates had no cost at all other than shoe leather. Very refreshing after all the fresh juice, Evian mineral water, meals etc that Elena’s Models girls all feel entitled to on a first date. Lots of American big spenders on first trips spoil the girls and teach them how to scam. E.g. $20 or more for a fake taxi ride. Another common trick is to get the guy to pay for a long taxi ride an train trip when the girl is in Kiev the whole time! I fell for that one about twice - never again. More - she wants to provide an interpreter - one woman here wants $80 for her friend to interpret (Elena’s Models again). I said I can bring one for $5 for one hour which will be enough. A woman wants you to visit her city - she always wants to meet you at the airport, find the taxi (a friend, probably her boyfriend) and apartments at inflated prices. I mean apartments similar to or jail cells here. If you wanna go and live in Ukraine or Russia have a lot of money saved, the average monbthly wage there is like the average DAILY wage here. You won't get ahead. If you can spend one year of your life making US $100 per month then you are more disciplined than me with your spending habits. And learn the language before you go... or the taxi driver, the barman, the real estate agent, the shop owner will rip you off blind without doubt. They think every western tourist is a walking ATM. ( I got this phrase from a seasoned FSU traveller while I was there and he was right) Good luck you gonna need that and more. I just got back from there last month and wasted much time on one girl, who had just broken up with her long-term boyfriend only a few weeks before I met her. With one small argument, she got up and left and went straight to his bed. Another I spent much time with, but couldn't see myself married to either of them, but they wasted much of my own time. What you are doing, meeting local (non-agency) girls is the absolute best way to do this entire approach. My personal take is that agency girls get spoiled very quick, and most have dreams of wealth. This is so important, I warn guys who make $45-75k a year that you will have your heart handed to you on a platter by these young big-city agency girls who dream of someone making 10x that. I kid you not. <b>*Go to a smaller city and steer clear of the dream-model type girls in big cities* </b> Otherwise, be prepared for a shock to your ego. They are not impressed easily by simple displays of wealth as they were 10 years ago. It is a new generation. Every guy who has been there know Men will come in, and try their best to wine and dine a young girl, buy her stuff when things look like they are not going well. It is what they have been trained to do. I had it happen to me, only I didn't fall for it, and booted the girl away. Her plan backfired and caused her intense grief (I found out later when I began writing her again). Learn Russian! Go off the beaten trail, visit smaller cities and try and drum up a conversation with a modest-looking cute girl. She will be stunned you are a Westerner and can speak the language. She will also be reluctant to leave, but if she is a small town girl with no prospects and its been many months since she last had a relationship - she is gold. Much better than the corrupt girls who only dream of a rich man to use for a few years before they get a divorce settlement and come back home...
