I will be there in a few weeks, wondered if anybody who has spent time there can give we some recommendations on where to hang out / what restaurants, bars, cafe's & clubs are wothwhile..
Good food, Good Service, "Our Meeting Place" Restaurant which is off of Prospect Lenina in Mariupol, and the Acropolis Restaurant which is right around the corner. As for the clubbing, I haven't a clue, went to one place, but I can't remember the name of it. There are many cafes littered along the Prospect Lenina and a nice on just across from the Theatre and another across from the Cinema. Great expresso and pastries in both.
I'm guessing you will be central, mate the place is not that big, a bit of a walk around covers most things there, central that is.
it has some mean pollution problems, its not often i smell a city but this one.
yeah spartic is fine, the girls where a great help to me on desk, odd such a decent motel and showers were bloody cold.
not to much english used there, i found it easyer eating up top in the main busy area in a large painted out windowed place where food is siting there so you can point to what ever, cheap as. smorgasbord type place with more beer.
didn't look like a eating hall from outside, everybody would know it.
Mariupol is a place with bugger all english menus.
Google 'mariupol marriage agencies' and look through a couple, see if any girls are interesting to you and e-mail agency about your arriving and stop by. Or you can just start a short correspondance and let girl know you will be there is a couple weeks. Just another avenue in case things are slow. I have to advise you these agencies have a fee to set up meeting with girl. The trouble I have with meeting girls on street is language, unavailability and not really looking for a partner. Picture you are at home city...you run your errands....market, restaurant, bar, social events........something almost everyday...you see many different women every time....for years.... How many times have you even got a date out of that??????????????? Long way to go without some assurances or even possibilities!!!
1-2 days.......sounds like bar hopping!!! :)))))))))))))) Mariupol is not a interesting place to go, too much industrial smog, as one guy told me a shithole. Can't even go to nearby beaches which are polluted. Got to get away from town to go to beaches, a girl told me about resort places away from city on seaside. Good Luck!!!
yes beemer not far off it, no way would i touch sea water, if you get on a high vantage point you will see massive chimney stacks surrounding city puffing away.
basically there are a lot of women sitting around central park area, as in bars its back to the english problem.
the place was interesting from its style, as in people.
more so then any other city over there did i feel like i had walked back in time.
boys had the jacked up lada's with aerials spoilers, more so here then anywhere else, cops slept in the cars in city centre, dress very eighties, city had a real soviet feeling about it.
didn't go to any clubs just cafes, you will find the one you like, but they are not raining with women, cats and dogs but, good place for lead pills with silencer. one mangy thing was the walking dead, dog, saw it every day.
if was a place i learnt to have my favoured beer label in my wallet or you always got cup of tea by guessing menu, why is that!!
i don't know if you noticed with Ukraine apple but and this place especially, when shopping the shop assistants were always on your case quick like making sure you not thieving or something but its like having your own personal assistant, go through them until english is found, easy way of finding lady compared to been a weirdo in parks
I don't know what restaurants you guys went into, but the ones I frequented all had english menus. The town is a steel town, no different than Gary Indiana or Allentown Pa or any coke fired steel mill town. As for being in the 80's that was a little missed also, yeah the cars were pretty much crap there, but the dress of the women were far from eightys, In most Ukrainian cities the men dress a bit off, mostly in traditional black outfits. Most any city in Ukraine with the exceptions of Kiev, Odessa and a couple of others will have the soviet feel. Because that is what it was.
The smell is mostly discharge of Coke from the steel plants and the citys air quality is extremely poor. When you arrive from Donetsk you will see the Steelman outside the city of Mariupol. It's a steel town.
Also a good town to find legitmate women. A couple of my wifes friends are coming west. One just arrived in North Carolina and the other in Vancouver Canada and Jetmbas lady in Wisconsin. Also they have a little more realistic expectations, with many of them not wanting to go farther than western Europe. Not seeking dreams of wealth, but a good generous, in time and affection man, not always money and responsible in their lives and finances not earmarking wealth as the primary concern.
My wifes first comment on where we live now is how clean the town is and how clear the air is. Mariupol does not have a centralized trash pickup, the pay for the job is horrible so guys look for something else to do. It's a difficult place for the majority of the Ukrainians to survive, not impossible, but just keeping daily needs is a struggle there.
Thats the life of many Ukrainian cities off the beaten path, Ukraine is a country that has not found itself yet. When it does the boom will hit and finding ladys here will be more difficult than now. It is poised for this to happen when a real patriot comes to power in Ukraine, not these hand me downs from a corrupt regime or the puppets of Putin. Strike while the iron is hot, in 2 to 5 years it may be very difficult to encourage a girl to leave Ukraine.
Mariupol may not be beautiful like Odessa, but that's the point. if you want an honest blue collar type of woman, I hear it is an excellent place to go. I am using "honest marriage agency" in Mariupol.
