Hi, I’m going to Chisinau the end of September to meet a girl and I could really do with some good advice please. I have read through all the posts about Moldova and I am not too sure what I need to do as there seems to be a conflict of opinions. I am assuming I can get a visa from the airport, but how exactly do I go about it? I understand that if you stay more than 3 days you need to report to the police. I’m planning on going over the weekend (Saturday to Tuesday) and wondered if I still need to report to the police. I looked on the airport website and there appears to be a police station within the airport building, is it just a simple case of reporting there? I know it might sound silly but, are you allowed to take electrical things other than mobile phones on planes? I don’t fly very often, last year I went to Kiev but didn’t need anything electrical (this time I want to take an electronic translator) also; does anyone know of any good apartments? I’m travelling from the UK. Any advice is gratefully received!!
Thanks.
Yeah you don't need a visa if your from the EU, and you don't need to register at a police station, you can take any electrical items with you, but the customs will search your stuff, One customs guy tried to confiscate a bottle of wine i had, but i told him i would be keeping it, so be assertive. Get the girl you are visiting to meet you at the airport, taxis are cheap, most stuff is apart from accomodation is. I feel really safe in Moldova. I will get you the name of the apartment i stayed in, it was very good, Adresa, you can call them and resrve an apartment, much better than a hotel room and cheaper.
Thank you Zeeco, I guess you have to watch out for the customs guys like you do in ukraine! I guess your on your own when you are there against the customs. my girl said she would meet me at the airport so I feel a lot safer than if I was on my own.
the name of the apartment would be good! any advice is gratefully recieved, i need all the help I can get!! Thank you!!!!
