Can anybody tell me what it's like to fly and enter the Ukraine? From what I've read you don't need a visa? Is this true? I work for the airlines and would like to fly there several times, but I know in Russia you still need a visa. Is it as easy as me flying into any other European city like London or Frankfurt? Is the only thing I need is my passport? I would either fly into Odessa or Kiev, and does anybody have any tips for somebody wanting to just spend a few days there? I thought maybe if I met somebody I could just fly there spend 2-3 day there several times. I usually get four days off at work and can sometimes make that into five giving me maybe 2-3 days to spend there.
Being airline staff one should understand that any visa requirement depends upon the nationality, the passport held, of the individual concerned, you haven't told us anything about your nationality and/or passport and fiance.com's crystal ball is knackered at the moment :)
Do a google for your local ukrainian embassy and check visa requirements. Offhand Citizens of EU, USA Canada and Japan dont need visa for stay of less than 90 days.
Odessa and Kiev are both nice places to visit. Dont go to Odesa in winter.
I am a US citizen and I have researched going to Ukraine. Is it really that simple to just fly in and get your passport stamped? I though maybe on my long weekend which is sometimes five days, I could go out and just meet with a potential mate I may meet on this website and then maybe schedule a vacation for 10-15 days later. If it is that simple then I may just fly into Kiev, which would be easiest. I know Russia is a pain in the arse having to get a visa, but like I said, if it is that easy to fly to the Ukraine, then I may just go for a weekend.
Yeah its pretty simple, just make sure you have the name and number of the hotel your staying at. Oh and pay for the VIP service @ airport (Odessa). They treat you like cattle, but its better than what they treat you without VIP. ;0
I agree it is very simple process....takes couple minutes to go through immigration, only passport and your ready.
Little more trickier going through customs if you have something to declare. If I took a laptop into Ukraine, I might declare it so that when you leave you won't get questioned as where you bought it. A friend had that happen recently, had to prove he brought it in.
It doesn't really matter about who you are staying with or where, sometimes I don't fill that section out but you definately need second part when leaving Ukraine.
It would be very difficult to go to Ukraine for only 2-3 days...it will take you that long to adjust to time difference. I am in west coast US, it is a 12-13 hour flight. I always fly into Kiev, then you can fly or drive most anywhere in Ukraine. No problems if you connect in US or any country in Europe.
