I am soon to travel to Ukraine again, and I am looking for any advice from anyone who has travelled by bus or train on the following routes.
1). Bus/train from Kiev to Sumy. (Can I get there direct from Boryspol?)
2). Bus/train from Sumy to Mariupol
3). Bus/train from Mariupol to Odessa.
4). Maybe also train Moscow to Kharkiv.
Being a conscientious environmentalist and all, I dont tend to do internal plane trips not to mention the fact that its also more expensive. Any one who could provide me with info on the prices and logistics of the above trips, I would be pleased to hear from them. I dont care about time taken for travelling, I have done serious train journeys in India before so its just about if it is possible, how much, any problems and that kind of thing. I can speak a little Russian so I will hopefully be able to manage at the ticket booths. So any useful information please?
The aircraft will still be operating whether you occupy a seat on them or not thus the only damage to the environment would be some 3% of your body & baggage weight burnt in the fuel per flight hour that is required to carry you.
On the grand scale of things I think that the world can cope with a few kilo's of fuel being burnt.
Very constructive and helpful Martin - thanks!!
Some of the routes I mentioned don't even have flight connections, such as getting to Sumy, so don't be so facetious. I am looking for useful information not glib comments!
Got to get a tranfer in Kiev from airport to train station. Late evening train to Sumy..cost $27 first class.
I think I am taking train from Kiev to Odessa...cost $30 first class
Beemer did you get your train tickets ahead of time or do you have to buy them right when you get to the station? How did you find out about the train time schedules before going on your trip?
I've never taken the train there and have no idea about it, but may have to do it sometime that's why I ask. I can't believe how cheap it costs to travel that way though....
keep to the train yorkie,
bus's a crap, trains are great, awesome and cheap{prices real cheap for your dollar}.
was going to catch a bus in Mariupol, after failing train ticket, what i saw, Na mate!!!
i hired a private car and driver for $100 American to lugansk, later the buses.
especially if you got a bit of gear.
