One of the airport buses at Dnepropetrovsk must only have 2 gears and not be firing on all cylinders. The terminal must be all of a 2 minute (any normal bus would take 30 seconds) ride and by the time you get there the stench of fuel from the bus ..... that's when I learnt why they'd made the airport 'no smoking'.
oh yes Apel the car thing i don't think is very relevant.
if you have never had whats nice you always will think of what could be nice to have.
its a normal human reaction.
hummer is my pick, the off road type, and I'm not as ugly(maybe) nor as stand-out-ish(maybe) but i will do most things with ease as such a vehicle in a hard environment.
as you see it works both ways, its a vehicle that is to dam expensive for me.
if life was that simple
I thought the same thing about quaint New Zealand when I lived there. ;p
Didn't meet ANY gold-diggers while I was single in New Zealand. Funny that... just all over the FSU. I guess you guys are in the older part of the equation, so sure, pay for youth. Become a material person. Millions of ordinary people like yourselves around the world.
I can't live in that superficial world of exchanging love for money. Happens, sure does, yet a few guys have been burned before on relationships based on that.
How shameful to give up on true love for pursuit of greed. Yet, a lot of Ukraine girls do turn their backs on good local men everyday because they cannot afford to have a stable family life or a life of luxury where the woman no longer has to work for a living.
yes there's always the exception.
they like to be real show pieces don't they.
the car thing and their attitude you have mentioned Apel reminds me of a Ukraine here.
she got a job with a local business.
the main director's of firm got supplied with nice V8 Aussie cars as we do.
they gave her also a company car, so she could drive to work and do other company stuff.
it was a small Japanese car.
her reaction was over the top, got rather spastic over it, her words i don't want this craape car, its a craape car.
she was a little tense for some time, tortured by the Aussie cars she had to park next to every day.
how could we not laugh at this ungrateful spoilt cow.
she became rather infamous locally.
no one here gives a toss if its free and supplied to use.
i cannot think of anyone ever complaining like this here.
wonder if husband drinks.
(its a small world here)
They won't like my little Mazda station wagon then, these Ukrainian girls..its not a Merc just a reliable Jap box on wheels...useful work car for picking up and delivering computers that runs on the smell of an oily rag.
My poor little Mazda car won't make the social status grade the Ukr girls require of a man...shit!..what materialistic bitches!
Apal...to get it straight, in almost 2 years of going to FSU countries and 4 trips and meeting.....almost 20 girls, never has the question of cars come up. Only one time as I was walking with a girl see saw a nice car and told me one day she would like to have an Infiniti. Seems to me, YOUR the one bringing up the question to girls.
as far as i understood from all yr posts yr ladies r not from rich families and r from small cities, so they could hardly see any jaguar or even porsche in their native cities:)))) such as Mariupol or Nikolaev. and i m sure all what they know r just the car names, and hardly distinguish the marks on the car itself:))) show her the mark of infiniti, porsche or dodge and ask which car is this:))))
so if she mentions "red ferrari" u may be sure she ll agree even to have an Opel:))))cause she know nothing how ferarri looks like:))
besides, do u tell yr ladies stories abt the mines u have in propety, or any works in different countries that it makes them think u will buy them jaguars easily?:)))) dont know abt the price of a jaguar in russai (i ve even seen it once in moscow), but porsch costs no less than $120000
TINTIN I could not agree more about the small town girls. They are not exposed to westerners every day like the ones in Kiev, St. Pete or Moscow. In fact I have had normally stone cold store clerks perk right when I ask them if they speak english. If that one does not then she directs me to one who does. It's a great way to meet. I even recognise some clerks as being right out of the pages of the agencys.
Billo...don't you think that a girl from a small town if exposed to westernization will become just like the girls in Kiev, St Pete's or Moscow??? I think it has more to do with the girl. I met a girl in Kiev that grow up in a small town an hour from Kiev, well she had some 'very high hopes'($$$). Big eyes, bigger dreams and dreaded the small town life!!
Nobody....you are right about girls being told by guys of the riches back home( strictly material)in an effort to reel in girl and then complain about her being a golddigger. I mentioned to Apal about what the heck he was telling girls in his letters, you know, i don't mean to brag but I got........
Beemer... Yes I do. But at least you are the one who will first influence them. If you are the lifelong partner for her, great! but if not as in myself, three years later, after permanate green card and the AOS has run out, you go shopping again! Yup that's me somewhat shallow.
By the way...Goldigging goes both ways, be it the guy who is looking at all the hot available women or the woman who is looking at a raised level of lifestyle. Both are looking to marry UP in their eyes.
Guys I hate to tell you this but I saw more Mercedes, Porches, BMWs, Lexus and other top brand vehicles in Odessa and Kiev than in my home town of Perth. It is probably the expectation that people who are successful drive these cars because that is what they drive in their cities.
My girlfriend wants a landcuiser, I tell her its expensive to run, difficult to park and doesnt get you to anywhere better than a normal car. I then tell her Im proud that I havent owned a car for 5 years! She says she still wants one so I tell her that when she has finished her degree and earns money she can buy one and run it herself!
Really though it is all a nonsense to think it is of slightest relevance what car they want. When I was young I wanted Porches and Lambos, now I dont even want a car.
