I am looking to visit Lvov soon and I would like recommendations for agencies there and any other advice. I am an experienced traveller in Ukraine and elsewhere. Thanks!

You know doc Lvov is the only major city in Ukraine that I have not seen any post about when it comes to marriage agencies. I also noticed its the only major city in Ukraine that AFA does not tour too as well. And I simply have never seen a girl on any web site who stated she lives in Lvov. I always thought this was strange. I'm curious and interested to learn what you experience over there and as well as what people will post in this thread. I dated one girl from Lvov while she was spending her summer in Odessa. She was not an agency girl. I met her by chance walking in Odessa. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I've seen girls who listed themselves as being from Lviv (with that spelling "Lviv") and I've recently been there - BEAUTIFUL city - but can't help you with marriage agency.

Use russian language sites. Google znakomstva lviv/lvov in cyrilic.

You won't have much luck in Lvov. Russian influence is minimal there and Russian style dating has not really taken off there - same situation as in much of western Ukraine. You will have better results in Central, Southern and Eastern Ukraine.

Dr Franklin - I ask the same thing myself. I am member of the Taoist Tai Chi Club in Lvov and have been to two weekend workshops there. But this is my understanding of Lvov: Lvov is burial place of the main Polish Emperors as it used to belong to Poland. Everyone on the Tai Chi course I go to understands Polish - more than Russian - and the workshops are translated into French or Russian for me. Poland is the destination country for work for Lvov residents and Lvov is the tourist destination for the Polish residents wishing to discover their heritage. My advice then: try a Polish site! For me: I'll try and stick to the cute girl with braces in my workshop classes!

I know lyviv well in ukraine is nice city with archictecture in original condition and nice buildings but it is not as good as St Petersburg in Russia, also ladies in Lyviv are poor quality and few.

Hello Lyudmilla!!!! I do agree with you. The architecture of St Petersburg is incredible but I am more interested in the historical aspect of buildings and stories(legends)........and the beautiful girls there are undeniable!!!!

Lyundmilla I just wondered, what makes the girls of Lyviv or whatever the heck it's called as you say " of poor quality ", Are they scammers? White Trash, Total Bitches? I'm not trying to be a smartass as I usually am, It's a serious question , acutally I anxiously anticipate a response. I really want to know.

Actually Lyudmilla that's BS!!! Lvov's architecture is nothing special relative to central eastern european standards. Within a few hours drive from Lvov you have more beautiful cities like Budapest and others smaller but more charming like Timisoara, Cluj, Zagreb, Brasov, Prague etc. So just becuase the FSU lost almost all its historical monuments doesn't make Lvov a special place!

beanstobe, The main burial place of the Polish Kings is Wawel Castle in Crakow. (This is where the Poles wanted to bury Pope John Paul II.) That said Lwow, as the Poles call spell it, was a Polish city for hundreds of years before WWII, so it is natural for Poles to want to return to a historically Polish city. It was never "Russian" before Stalin deported the Poles and moved Russians into it. There is still a small Polish minority there, so learning Polish shouldn't be hard for them. Polish had an influence on the Ukrainian language, since the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth once comprised most of Ukraine, including Kiev.

I'm originally from Lviv region and have a lot of relative there. Girls from that area won't show themself on web, cs there are more strict church influence and morals there. none of you can't say about quality of those girls cs most of you simply have no idea about what they are. as far as I know there are no less beautiful women there then in any other place. I have a lot of cousins in Lviv and each can easily impress a western man. Trick is that won't be once mile close to none. as for arcitecture. this city has typical european style which you've got used to. if you have a good guide you have a chance to see the open bueauty of this place and fall in love with it.

I stumbled along this page tonight. I was one of the early guys (8 years ago) who went to the FSU to find a wife. Long story short.... two tours (afa) three trips on my own etc.. I have been married now for 6 years and have a wonderful son 5 years old. It worked for me. My wife was from Lviv. I belive Lviv girls are the most western and seem to be the most educated. I have visited the city 4 times (visiting relatives and friends of my wife. I like that most speak english. They are very aligned to europe and are pro-west politically and very much PRO UKRAINE. The city has many of the things we all enjoy about the FSU. Great Architecture (old brick streets are really bumpy)ls). Visit the weapons museam and drive through the carpathian mountains in spring or summer. If an educated women is important to you or you want a lady who is a bit more western I belive this is a great city for you. So go and enjoy. P.S. For sheer numbers of beautiful women I still think St. Petersburg Russian is #1 in the world. Ukrainian women are more like girls from our midwest..which fit me better. Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck guys...

Went to Lviv and found it a beautiful city and very similar to such cities as Prague with alot of parks and museums and alot to see and do.Alot of English signs as well even a macdonalds haha. It was once part of Poland and while visiting one of the Roman Catholic churches I was suprised to hear the sermon being conduct in Polish. I wouldnt say the ladies there were poor many beautiful ladies there and I got alot of smiles as I struggled in shops etc with my Russian.
