Hello everyone, i am going to nikolaev and kherson for 1 week in each can you reccomend any nice places to see and any travel tips that may help. This will be my first time here, i am primarily concerned with meeting new people and learning about the culture there, i am not interested in a new wife or sex partner, ps if you can recommend somewhere to have a good night out it would be appreciated thank you brendon.

Brendon I was in Kherson last May for 5 days, personally, I think 5 days is enough! there are quite a few good resteraunts and nice places for coffee etc. I had an apartment right in the centre, courtesy of an agency called Kherson girls, even if you dont want to meet a lady, they were very helpful and have good interpreters at a good rate in case you dont speak Russian! There is also a half decent Irish bar, I just dont remember its name but (I am Irish too!! duhhh)were a lot of people seemed to enjoy a night out!, The girl I met didnt like bars lol. But I find it hard to believe you do not want to meet a lady there, there are some gorgeous and genuine honeys in that town!!

Thanks for some pointers. As for not wanting to meet any women i have finished a 5 year relationship just before xmas when i caught her in bed with someone else and dont feel like giving up my new found freedom at this present moment in time. But as they say you never know things change.

Be sure you take a dump before about 2200 as when I was there (about 4 years ago) they shut the water off between about 2300 and 0600. There are some good restaurants, pizza places and at least one McDonalds. Do not go to the zoo! The conditions (for the animals) are deplorable and depressing. It is about 1.5 hours from the airport in Odessa. Try to make your arrangements in advance. The taxi drivers at the airport will hound you to death.

I am sure that rjfot is referring to the Odessa airport taxi drivers, they really are 'something else' and knock spots off the Kiev/Borispol equivalents but, I learnt, they do understand the words 'phuck off' :)

Rjfot.........4 years is a long time...I think a few things have changed!! :)) I was taking dumps whenever I wanted, maybe you were in some cheap $30 apt.I stayed very close to sovietskaya, a short 5 minute walk to Mac's. Several restaurants along there have outdoor seating which is perfect to see the gorgeous girls strut by as you get an eyefull!!!!! Nikolaev is small enough that all girls have to walk by there sooner or later!!! The zoo was fine for me, actually it is best in ukraine, far cry from any in states. To me Kherson seems to have a lot of scammers on sites...beautiful but needy. Just a month ago several from there were dropped fairly quickly from fiance site if that means anything. I have a great time myself in odessa. What don't you try a few days in Odessa,Brendon. If you need help in apt or taxi check out site I trust very much and they have good pricing( best price from Odessa to Nikolaev..~$120 roundtrip), it is ukrainefare.com. good luck!!

Brendon I am curios as to why you would pick those two cities if you have no interest in the ladies, but thats your own business. The southern part of Ukraine, Yalta, Simferopol etc are really beautiful scenic areas, you might have a better site seeing holliday down in that area??? (loads of babes too, in case you change your mind!!)

Wow beemer! Cut me a little slack would you? Actually I was in my then girlfriend's nice flat. She used some of the money I sent her to put small water heaters in her and her mother's flat (who lived a few floors above her). The water in the tub was that nice shade of "Ukraine brown". They DID shut the water off every night but I believe you when you say that things have improved. They would have to. I met the lady at an AFA social and was quite serious about her but on my third trip her 11 year old daughter decided I was too much of a threat to her and her mother's relationship and that was that. We took a nice week long trip to Yalta and when we came back to Nicolaev I realized it was over. My lady friend would sleep with me the first part of the night and then go sleep the rest of the night with her daughter. I thought that was a little strange. So you know where I am coming from I have made 7 trips to Ukraine (Odessa, Nicolaev, Kherson, Poltava), 1 to Russia, (Voronezh), and 1 to Latvia (Riga). I married a woman from Odessa 6/7/05. She took off 1/16/07 with one of my cars which she wrecked in North Hollywood 1/19/07. I will spare you the lurid details but this woman had made my life a NIGHTMARE. I filed for divorce and to date it has cost me upwards of $60K. I still think there are good women in Ukraine/Russia. I have just not found her. It is a fascinating part of the world and I think I am going back to Voronezh this summer. Life has its ups and downs. I wish all of the guys the best of luck. I agree with you beemer ...you can get an eyeful in Nicolaev! You just have to separate the wheat from the chaff!!!!!!!

Sorry, Rjfot, didn't mean to be on you!! :))) Just wanted to point out changes do happen, sometimes in a short time. Couldn't believe water being shut off!!!:O I was joking about $30 apt...sorry:)))) Sorry to hear about your experience with your girl. Part of reason I look for girl with no kids is what happened to you, also an ex/father can make life difficult. You live in the Valley??? I'm in Valencia. I know of 5 guys on here that are not too far from me...small world. Met one in Ukraine once!!!!! I'm going on my 5th next week, my first time through Moldova, girls seem pretty nice!!! My best to you!!!

WOW! beemer I am jealous.... I would like a detailed account about Moldava upon your return...especially the ladies. I hear the standard of living there is worse than Ukraine! Is that possible? It will be beneficial to find out what your impressions are! Have a nice trip. I live in Corona, CA......TF

I usually write a thread on some of my experiences. I do notice girls I speak to in moldova are very receptive, more than say, the ukrainian girls I speak with. From what I gather, all girls money is spent on clothes, phones and meals. I will not be suprised at poor living conditions in many parts. It is very nice where i will stay at.
