nasfan: I USUALLY hate to get political here in the forum - but I wondered how you felt about Ron Paul. He didn't have a snowballs chance in hell, with the press virtually IGNORING his campaign and branding him a looney. ANd he was given barely five minutes to speak at any of the televised debates (assuming he was even invited). But personally I thought he was spot on in most of what he said - limited government and most of what you say above. Just wonderd what you thought. (ANd then I'm not going to write much more on politics).
nasfan, I usually enjoy reading your posts and usually you're pretty close, but this last post you made here...LOL...what you're describing, as a solution to show the world how good you are for the rest of us, would bring the US to the dark ages again. I've nothing against the US, but sentences like "Immediately inform Opec we are no longer a customer and watch economies start to collapse", "Immediately stop importing Chinese goods", "Shut down all microsoft applications world wide", "Pay off all international debt.","No exchange of medical technology devised in the US" are...I don't know, maybe your 8yo son (if you have one) just took over the keyboard...
Ok, just some short mental notes from me:
- No more oil from Opec? Hmm, the US is the biggest consumer/customer, so I guess, it would mean cheaper oil for us, while the US domestic prices would skyrocket. I wonder how long the US economy would stay alive...
- no more chinese goods ? I wonder how long the US econmy will be alive when people will have to pay 50 bucks for a t-shirt for example
- No more micro$oft outside the US ? Never heard of Linux and the likes ? Do you really think the world would collapse without MS ? It would give millions of people jobs while converting exisiting systems to eg Linux...
- No medical technology exchange ? Well, in the first place then, stop waving with USD in front of all the foreign scientists to come to the usa and perform their investigations there.
This is also just a shortlist...this was really a very shallowminded post...and again it proved what everybody knows, that some (not all) americans really think they are the center of the universe...it's not, believe me...
Don't take this post personally, it isn't...just had to laugh very, very hard when I was reading how you would improve the US economy and punish the rest of us...I think, that before you start your list, you should first start cleaning up some of the domestic sh*t you're in right now...and then worry about the rest...can you imagine how you could spend the money that went to the war with Iraq, locally ? But yeah, I know, the oil...
Granny3777 you have been listening to too many of John Pilger America hating documentries. The best place you should look for a woman is Not Ukraine, but one those nice ladies in a burka ( The black bin bags that cover a muslim womans body and head with eye slits ) in IRAN
Jet as for Ron Paul he is extremely intelligent and dead on in most of his analysis. I've admired Dr. Paul for going on 10 years but he made a mistake claiming the 9/11 was an inside job and then the media shut him off giving him a chance to explain his take, so he got labeled a looney for that. Pauls take was it was an inside job, a let down by the first Bush and Clinton administrations with a willing dupe in the second Bush. Doesn't get any more inside than that. With the occupation of Kuwait the world was galvanized against Saddam, but American flinched and this sent General Schwartzkoff insane. Remember the kinder gentler nation. Clinton gutted the intelligence community and communications between asset agencys was denied. Hence 911. Sudan offered Clinton Bin Laden on two occasions, he let it slip through his hands. His answer we didn't have anything on him. Really the USS Cole, Two Embassys in Africa. Yeah right. Then he admits years later that maybe he made a mistake. No shit! All you need to know about Islam is go back and read Churchills "The River Wars." Which was written over 100 years ago. Churchill was an officer in the reconquest of the Sudan and made observations on Islam back then. No person in world history had more foresight than Churchill as far as I'm concerned.
Danny3777 since you're such a rocket scientist, let me clue you in on something. We don't need oil, that's a liberal lie promoted to obfuscate the truth. We have enough oil in Alaska,on the Pacific Shelf and Gulf of Mexico. ANWR represents alone thirty years of Saudi Oil. Close the tap on that and watch economies shake and rumble. My prediction is when oil reaches 125 dollars a barrel The US administration will be forced to open up ANWR and other strategic oil sites. Which should have been done years ago. Then watch shit hit the fan as oil prices hit 20 a barrel and the speculators try to make margin call. We import 60 percent of our oil. Watch as the little Pig in Venezuela runs for cover when we shut him off also. We've let the envirofacists run the show for over 30 years. Well their chickens are coming home to roost. Oil is the engine that runs freedom. Don't let anyone kid you of that. Until other sources are found that are more economical, that is the way it is. Though you claim that the war was from oil is an absolute lie. Anyway the Government makes more from a gallon of gas than any oil company does, and the government produces nothing in return.
Desperate Dan, I presume, hasn't even figured out my, or some others, nationalities yet. He's displaying what an ignorant git he is by presuming that we are all American :)
And I wonder how danny may travel by air once oil may run out, 'green' fuel sources have a lower freezing/gelling temperature thus are no use, at present, for flying aeroplanes at the temperatures of 30,000+ feet :)
Oh yes Í hate oil'until I want to make use of it of course!
Australian BBQ's? Perhaps during the winter or on the beach perhaps but for much of the summer there are 'open flame' bans for fear of starting a bush fire and I wouldn't describe the alternative of a gas fired hotplate as a BBQ.
I think the important thing to remember here is that all people are people. Some are honest and some are not. The question all men should ask the girl he is communicating with is....DO YOU WORK FOR THE AGENCY AND DO THEY PAY YOU MONEY TO CHAT WITH MEN?
bollox danny,
Virgin did a one off publicity stunt whereas they flew a 4 engined B747 Heathrow-Schiphol-Heathrow and one of the engines ran on bio fuel whilst the other 3 engines ran on avtur and on such a short hop they wouldn't have got up as high as the optimum cruising altitude for a B747 whereas the bio fuel would have gelled after a period of time.
I think you are reading more in my post than intended. Personally Linux sucks at least that's my opinion. Since there are so many American haters I figured I would stir the pot a little. Though, that being said I will say this. We should pull from OPEC and become independent from mideast oil. That would bring prices down world wide and it would cause problems economically to some that fund terrorist activities. We have plenty of oil reserves in the US, like I said Anwar would provide 30+ years of Saudi Oil alone. That's not even exploring other regions of the US where new deposits have been found. I would like the US to become more isolationist. We did before and we were economically sound prior to 1916 when Colonel House and his willing dupe President Wilson decided on the idiotic league of nations.
I would like to see many of our Military bases removed from areas around the world. We are not policeman and peacekeepers. Leave that to the UN and let them screw up other countrys. Try to recall one thing in the last 30 years that the UN resolved. Hell they couldn't even convict Milosevich. Was he a criminal Worse than many others on the world stage? They twiddled their thumbs in Riwanda, not they are doing it in Dafur. The liberals are screaming here we should be in Dafur and not Iraq. Why the hell should we be in Dafur? When did this become our problem? Let the UN solve it. But that corrupt organization couldn't solve the entrance into a whore house.
$50 dollars for a T shirt. Highly unlikely, though I know where you're going with that. We have strangled business with regulation and idiotic EPA laws and OSHA laws. When Reagan deregulated many businesses our economy flourished like no time in post war history. We have prostituted our manufacturing base with this kind of legal chicanery. We've out sourced jobs to foreign countries to make a profit because socialism has crept into the business community. We had the strongest manufacturing base in the world and socialists came in an attempted to destroy it. Nearly did it.
I personally don't think we are the center of the Universe and neither should we be. We should take care of our problems at home. Which to the chagrin of many isn't nearly as bad as they would like it to be. I also believe we should pull back from foreign investment, contributions to the world bank and IMF. We should keep technology at home. Though Mr. Clinton had no problem selling or was it giving away missile guidance technology to the Chinese?
As far as punishing anyone. It's not a punishment at all. It's more of a sound economic position to put our country in. If all countries put themselves and their citizens first, there would be less problems in the world. Paying off international debt is key. Also collecting the same debt owed to us is an issue. Only two countries have paid back their debt to us from WWII. While our debt is being held by foreign and not so favorable countries as the interest elevates placing a burden on my daughter and her family (No I don't have a son LOL).
As for the light of brains. This was not a war for oil. Certainly money could be spent elsewhere, but then our own congress finds more ways to piss away the dollar than this war really costs. I could cite some OMB statistics but that would be boring and the war doesn't even compare to the silly socialist programs ran in the states by the house democrats, but that will never get much media play.
As for Bill Gates and Microsoft, the most hated man in Europe and by some in the states. He's hated because he's rich, he's hated because he dominates a market. People really envy those that inspire and aspire to goals many of us do not have the perseverance to attain. The Clintons tried to take him down also. I envy no one or their wealth, I have other things in my life to concern myself with. Not class envy. What money another person has, has very little to do with me. Money is not a zero sum game, because one has more another has less? Not true.
We were drug into four wars which had roots in the European community. Though we are the assholes of the world. Sorry that doesn't fly with me. The United States has never been a colonial country nor should we be, along with being an Empire of any sort. We all know through history what has happened to colonizers and empires, why try to attain what destroyed other cultures? We should not be our brothers keepers or the world police or get involved in such ideas. George Washington had it correct, no entangling alliances. Read his farwell speach. Though some would say it doesn't fit for the modern world, just like others say the constitution is outdated. Which is nothing more that fabrication from socialists.
What the idiot doesn't realise is that the outside air temperature at around 37,000 feet can be minus 50 or 60 degrees.
Oh yes, let's store the animal fat in the wing fuel tanks at minus 50+ degrees and, on a use as you go basis, quickly thaw it out but don't worry if it doesn't thaw out in time as we're halfway across the Atlantic, we can simply pull into a lay-by and wait for it to thaw :)
Ron Paul never claimed that 9/11 was an inside job. A few of his SUPPORTERS have claimed that and its been picked up by the mass media - but you can't hold Ron Paul responsible for the ridiculous belief of a minority of his supporters. For the record, Paul has always claimed that 9/11 was a direct result of BLOWBACK - unintended consequences of our, sometimes, malicious foreign policy. Muslims living in Arab states are not surpisingly upset at our tendency to unilaterally BOMB them whenever the whim strikes us. They retaliated, by murdering thousands of Americans. While it was horrible in every single way - the fact that they took a move against us shouldn't be very surprising. They don't hate us for our freedom or our financial success as many have tried to convince us. They hate us what they perceive as unitalteral strikes against their people.
Those who feel that 9/11 was an INSIDE JOB - claim that somehow it was set up by the CIA or other government bodies. Those people beleive that the WOrld Trade Center simply wouldn't have colapsed the way it did or that the planes were nonexistant as the crash site at the Pentagon was too small and the video tapes were faked etc. THOSE people are looney - but its WRONG to associate Ron Paul with those ideas.
The media pegged Ron Paul as looney because he advocates the abolishment of the IRS and the Federal Reserve and many other "necesaary institutions" of the US Governement in his quest to make it smaller. He also advocatea a return to the gold standard and (as Buchanon) the closing of MOST foreign military bases and the defense of our own borders. To the press these ideas seem too radical. And the press has ALWAYS seen its role as MORE than REPORTING the news. It wants to GUIDE us into what IT thinks is right. The ideas that Ron Paul presents have APPEAL for the masses - so the press sees its role as preventing ideas it considers irresponsible from being heard by too many. The thing is that the ideas are NOT irresponsible - they make perfect sense.
THESE are the reasons Ron Paul was seen as "looney" and not given enough of an opportunity to present his case.
Regarding the hostility many feel about the US in regard to our often ridiculously intrusive foreign policy, which I believe very well fueled the hatred that resusted in 9/11 (and the subsequent partying in the streets in much of the Arab world) - we should ALL be aware that this dislike for Americans and our policy is CERTAINLY to be felt in Ukraine and the FSU as well.
On more than one occasion, when identified as an American - I have been asked, in very hostile terms - "WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU PEOPLE DOING IN IRAQ!." I have narrowly avoided nasty physical confrontations (always seemed to be more than one guy) by hastily retreating.
Travelers to Ukraine and the FSU should be aware of this. The confrontations can NOT be avoided by simply avoiding discussion of politics as I have NEVER participated in discussions of that sort. Just being identifed as an American was all it took.
We are CERTAINLY hated by some because of the perception of our intrusive (imperialistic?) foreign policy.
"well i run...(with my cranial cavity filled with)... straight animal fat . its warmed and turned to a liquid by running (through veins and arteries near my larnyx which is constantly pumping hot air).'
And what if they change the engine design of all next generation aircraft, where's all the chip or animal fat going to come from to fuel the world's aircraft? :)
At present the major arports have the fuel delivered by undergound pipelines (except Amsterdam where it is apparently delivered by barge), I can just imagine the major airports become chicken farms, pig farms or major fish & chips outlets just to fuel the aircraft :)
And guess what your in-flight meal is gonna be? Can you fart in the bag please sir, we need the methane!
