Hi forum members. As you probably noticed we updated form design and functionality. We are trying to make forum more convenient for everybody. it will take a couple of days to remove any problem, make necessary adjustments. Your feedback is appreciated. PM your suggestions to me, or post them here. Every member of the forum can do own blog now. We are getting into the travel season. so I hope we will have many travel stories here.
i decided to express my opinion abt the subject touched in another thread and that refers more to this one - the new version of the forum and avatars.
its up to the members if they want to download their real pics or any other pics or dont. no one says u must do it.
i did not mind to add my real picture. i dont quite like to talk with faceless people, so in case anyone else does not liek it either, i ll let them see who i am:)
those who use pics of any actors or just cartoon characters express themselves that way. usually avatar conveys thoughts and feelings of a person. and maybe the person has a lot in common with tom cruis if he has dowloaded his picture. we just need to know more abt the actor to understand what the member of the forum want us to see there:)
anyway, the forum has become much better!
i like it
thank u moderators!
he's right. I'm a minute type, small endowed, insecure as hell and I stutter too, am dyslexic so regard Spellcheckers as a blessing, and besides that I'm low class, poor as a rat hence wish I could buy a newspaper, thick as a brick and have an inferiority complex, and my psychiatrist tells me everybody hates me for a reason. And I mean, HE did study so he's probably right hmm?
So here was my chance, choosing an avatar - surely you didn't expect my nerdish face here did you? Nope, I'm handy with photoshop so I modified an image I found on the Net.
Hey, prove me wrong, after all this is THE place for displaying fictive Manlyhood ain't it? You may call me BiketheMan from now on!
I'm fond of Oleg's alter egos and am quite curious what he'll come up with..... ;-)
I think the new layout makes for a more 'friendly' environment, if someone is in to motorbikes then let them be in to motorbikes, it gives others an idea of another's hobby, most people know that I work in aviation hence an aviation related avtar from my favourite childhood TV series, so what?
And in fairness to Oleg, he posted his avtar in a hurry to assist me, having posted my avtar I then experienced problems logging in so Oleg went thru the same procedure to try to replicate the problem. I'm sure he'll come up with something more permanent at his next attempt!
That's why I attached the two concepts (ugly and unimaginative) together with the neat little slash bar. Nobody HAS TO put an actual photograph here. But something representing their personality is appropriate.
You like motorcycling - and as such depict that sort of image. That shows imagination.
I remind you that VantheMan took the first wipe, suggesting that those of us who post images have "puerile minds" and that we "buy a newspaper or book to look at the pictures in it". Neither accusation is TRUE, I'm betting, for the majority of us here, though I can only officially speak for myself.
Regarding MY image, I actually look just like that. Unfortunately I live in a two dimensional world much like Edwin Abbots' Flatland. Those great three dimensional sattelite images available via the internet, depict MY area as a grey flat place place not yet mapped or given a third dimension.
Don't buy it?
Okay - its a caricature of me actually done by a well known political cartoonist. I swiped it from the newspapers website. But it IS me. (And periodically I can erase my shirt and put on a FRESH one.)
But Google's map function DOES show my area as a grey flat place (at least last I looked it did anyway).
When in Ukraine, before the first Romance Social, a few of us were sitting at a computer in the "Business Center". A mortgage broker from California was showing of his personal holdings with these detailed sattelite images. The detail shown was incredible.
Then they asked to see where I lived - and I got a grey flat, so-far-unmapped, image. Only then did I realize I must live in two-dimensional Flatland. Well, that, and the fact that with every breeze I would slip and slide under the closed door finding myself on the others side :) Being two dimensional really has its drawbacks:)
Van -i agree. Know doubt this forum will next have nice pretty pink and blue spots and stars on it soon to appease those types with short attention spans
