hi! i'm flying out on 16th and need to stay a week or so in a hotel before renting an apartment. i only intend staying 6 weeks in total, but want to rent an apartment so i can come back to it when i stay long term. is it a stupid thing to maybe pay for 6 months rent up front or something like that? also, anyone know of the best people to rent from? i want a decent size 2 or 3 bedroom flat. but at the same time i'd like to not pay much more than 500UKP per month. is this possible? thanks for any info! /pete
pete,
To ask for a hotel in Kiev and Borispol is a contradiction in terms, it's like saying you're looking for a hotel in London near to Stansted airport, have you ever been to Stansted, aside from Bishops Stortford it's in the middle of nowhere!
If you google for the Borispol airport website there are links to a couple of local hotels, I've stayed at the one actually at the airport, during the summer I couldn't get a room with air con thus I couldn't sleep, the whole atmosphere of the place is reminiscent of Colditz and the ajoining bar/restaurant ran out of draft beer just as I was tucking in to my 2nd.
I would forget about looking for one close to Borispol, there's nothing to do there, and just look for one in Kiev city.
pete,
www.besteastern.com will give you an indication of western style hotel prices in Kiev but I would suggest that you rent an apartment for a week or so rather than a hotel. Just google for 'Kiev apartment' and then compare prices against those of hotels.
Make sure to find a hotel room before you come. As i know there is no rooms available for those dayse (May 16...)It is going to be a big conference of EBRD in Kiev those days and all hotels are full now. I would suggest you to find an appartment. There are many agencys who can help you with this. 2 or 3 bedroom flat in the city will defenetly cost you more than $500 a month.
Martin is right...dont stay in the hotel near the Borispil. There is nothing to do there!!!!!!!!!
take care
