Not by a single generation people are moving on,and one quote from you dosnt make much or a arguement.
Or give good enough reasons. That the best u can do? Go do your usual and google something up or run to your dictionary.
The narrow minded, short sighted tripe you wrote above doesn't deserve much more than dsimissal with a simple short quote. But if you want more, I'll give it to you.
But its not from Google.
Its on foolish thinking.
"Oh progress! Thou art forever making things better, aren't thou? Throw out the sacred books-what are they but the thoughts of dead imbeciles? Forget the old rules, old wives' tales, old traditions and habits of old generations, old-timers' superstitions, the old fuddy-duddies' doubts! We are the cleverest humans who have ever lived, right?
Look colin - don't be offended. But I don't think human beings have evolved recently to be beyond marriage. Your argument is often used by current generations to dismiss the thinking of the past. You can find similar things written in the 1700s, 1800s and 1900s - dismissing all that has been held traditionally as if we truly ARE the smartest generation to ever live. The truth is we are far from it.
Don't really feel like taking on someone else in the forum now - though I am sure a debate with you would be a little more intellectual than the conflict I've RECENTLY been in. I'm just kind of sick of conflict right now. So lets agree that we disagree on this topic. And not let it get out of hand.
danny is no longer worth the time it takes to even comment on his posts. He has the IQ of a rock. Some like him are at least funny (intentionally). danny isn't even that. I wish there was a way to block certain people's post, as you can block avatars (if any of us could still GET avatars). I would certainly block danny.
He would be in over his head and lost in even a kindergarten discussion of poo-poo and pee-pee let alone anything beyond that.
Now he writes half his posts physically threatening the rest of us - the lowest level of desperate communications.
How do some people even find this forum? And even a bigger question is... WHY?
I'm religious, but not in the Judeo-Christian sense. I am firmly convinced that there is a God, and an afterlife. But most of the rest of my religious beliefs would not be understood by most of you.
Still, I would rather be among Christians than atheists. I would rather live in a society with Christian values, as opposed to do whatever feels good.
There IS a reason that marriage has thrived in culture after culture throughout mankinds history. And it should not be put in the dumpster of history. We have not evolved beyond it.
A lot of people are familiar with the first sentence in this quote by Voltaire. And they use it to dismiss God and religion, but in doing so they are actually taking what he said out of context. What Voltaire (often credited with having the highest IQ EVER) actually said in a letter to the then King of France was:
""If God did not exist, He would have to be invented." But all nature cries aloud that he does exist: that there is a supreme intelligence, an immense power, an admirable order, and everything teaches us our own dependence on it. "

Are you snubbing me ????
Made a post a week or so back about that putor you talking about sending over. Think you were to busy teaching Dan how to spell to have noticed the Post :-)))
I told you it was in the shops here for 11999grv
How did you get on with it - bit risky to send - I think ?????
Decided not to send it. Relatives decided they didn't want it - since it is limited in capacity.
I did mention to my lady that someone I knew from the forum had quoted the price at 11999 grv - she said she thought she had seen it at less than that.
I'm thinking that you are refering to the EEEPC 900 with XP and she was talking about the 2G (with 7.9 in screen and linux).
Danny I would have no problem saying anything to your face alone. You're the one that's going to pop someone in the mouth. Well I'm game, but how would you explain getting your ass whipped by a 50 year old man in better shape than you?
ben2006 I don't think it was hypocricy Christ was defining. We are given the capacity to be judgmental. As long as it isn't used in an arrogant fashion. Judge not lest you bea judged doesn't mean you can't be judgemental, see in the end of things we are all going to be judged by the Ultimate Arbitrator. Since you and Colin are so pristine and the arbiters of judgementalism, please define where ethics are defined from?
Colin I've spent 20 years reading George Will, I will always need a dictionary when I read his work. Also please cite the wars caused by Religion. I would like you to cite the cases. Was it the murderous adventures of Cortez trying to convert the Aztecs? How he destroyed a perfect society? Ooops I forgot the Aztecs had human sacrifice.
As for my Issues with Martin, I would have left well enough alone until he made a couple of disparaging remarks about my wife. You can insult me all you want but the women are not part of this, unless they inject themselves into it. I've never heard a peep from Martins wife, just like mine will never post here. Plus there is a lot of history here, way before you started to post in this forum. So it's not the nicest thing I've ever aid to Martin, you should do your research before making a broad statement as that.
Nasfans, your the one claiming to be so pristine, don't turn it on to me or Colin. So your saying the bible is ok with people who are a hypocrite when they judge people...as long as they're not arrogant! Ok suit yourself.
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye."
Best leave the martin/nasfan war in the past, no one wants to go there again. Wish I never mentioned it.
Goes along with the story in the Bible where Christ encounters an adultress (female adulterer) about to be stoned. Now, stoning was considered to be the fair and just punishment of the day for commiting adultery under Jewish law, and Jesus knew that. As he purported to be a holy man, he was asked to participate, to guage his respect for the law he was supposed to uphold.
He said "He who is among you without sin, let him throw the first stone."
He didn't DENY the law. He didn't break it. Its similar to the idea - "Judge not lest you be judged." In doing so he acknowledged that she was a sinner and therefore deserving of her punishment under the law. But we are all sinners. SO for anyone to punish the adulterer means to hold her to a higher standard than we hold ourselves to.
That is quite clear for all to see my little friend, you only came here to pollute each and every thread whilst causing as much disruption as is within your power to do so.
