Hi, i will go the next month to kiev and i see in internet different prices for the pair EUR (Euro) UAH (Hryvna) for today 23 June 2008.
EUR UAH 1000EUR
http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic 1 -> 7.43339 = 7433 UAH
http://www.xe.com/ucc/full/ 1 -> 7.26878 = 7268 UAH
http://www.exchange-rates.org/converter/EUR/UAH/1/Y 1 -> 7.79162 = 7791 UAH
http://www.bank.gov.ua/Engl/default.htm 1 -> 7.57038 = 7570 UAH
All this is in real time. Where is the problem?
There is very much difference.
What type of change is applied in the borispol kiev airport?
I regulary use www.xe.com as a reference during my work and once I was doing a quotation of a number of costs in both USD & EUR thus as I was going thru the quotation I was repeatedly taking the exchange conversions from xe.com.
It was when I got to the bottom of the page that I realised I had several different rates of exchange and this was because xe.com is regularly updating the rates, the rates had kept changing every few minutes.
But these rates are merely for reference and you will never actually receive the market rate. What the rate is today will have no bearing on the rate when you actually travel next month and what are you disputing, there's a maximum of some .5 of a UAH, a difference of some 7%, between the most different of those rates and it depends on where these sites source their information and how often they update. Try 'reuters' site for a rate.
On the streets in Ukraine there are rates of exchange boards outside most, if not all, of the exchange places, just go for the best rate or get UAH from ATM's on your credit/debit card.
