I'll be there very soon (next week) and I hope to enjoy the best Ukraine has to offer. I have visited Russia four times and always found the women superbly dressed and very friendly. I hope your trip (and mine) to Kiev and Sumy to be equally nice.
My Sumy girl has made plans for us to go on a picnic to a place called the ancient city of Putivl, there is some historical background to the area and it sounds like a pleasant place to lay on a blanket eating cheese, drinking wine and enjoying a young ladies company.
Give it hell (non-stop action) treat them (ladies) with respect and enjoy this wonderful life we have been blessed with.
Oh... and one more bit of advice, there are many "negative" personalities on this forum... try to take their criticism with a grain of salt.
i am going to be in sumy with my other american friends- it will be their first trip to ukraine-i have many friends in sumy i will be there from october 5 till either the 23 or 28--rodney
I've noticed a lot of attractive women/girls in Sumy and Poltova speak a lot more English than Odessa and Kiev. I'll probably be up that way in November, but bug out before heavy winter sits in again and go to South America to thaw out. ;p
Yeah last year I spent 2 months in Ukraine during December and January - omfg! It's colder than I even imagined due to the wind. Although Nikolaev was rather pleasant comparatively speaking.
I plan on only 1 or 2 weeks maximum around November. Then I plan on spending a few weeks in Colombia for some Internet businesses that I got to get started there. Going to make some rounds around Kherson and then back to Nikolaev because I made some good friends there. Going to steer clear of Odessa at winter.
Mini cooper there are some folks who alsways find the nagative in every thing. I feel bad for them going thru life miserable.well if any of you fellas are there when I am maybe you can give me some pointers. I should be in Sumy october 29th - november3rd i am spending october 28th in Kiev and november 4th and 5th. I am going to need to find a cell phone to use while I am there. any one know who has the best service. i dont think I will be calling back home just need it for calls in the country.
There's a nice lady who sells mobile phones in Borispol airport Terminal B. Second hand and new. You can't miss her. She'll sell you exactly what you're looking for.
Best to bring your own phone and buy sim card, my razrs work fine. I still use same number for two years and I give out number ahead of time to friends and girls. TOO bad you didn't know someone there to get you a ukrainian number ahead of time.
There are basically two main providers in Ukraine http://www.kyivstar.net/en/personal/prepaid/services/sms/ and http://umc.ua/eng/splash.php. The Kyivstar page is at the send sms so if you click the drop box you can see the prefixes used by Kyivstar. Umc or Mts(new name) if you navigate to send sms you can also click the drop box to see prefixes for them. If you have the prefixes of the people you will be calling it will be cheaper to use the same service as they have. If you are an ebay user you can search for a quadband unlocked gsm phone and it should work in Ukraine with a local sim card. It is nice if your lady is meeting you to have your phone and number to touch base when you land.
You may be able to find a Ukraine sim card on line somewhere. do not know. If not Pm me I can get you in contact with someone who could mail one to you. If you buy your phone here make sure you have a European adapter to charge it and any other electronics you take with you.
Regarding giving gifts to your lady friend; it is an accepted custom in both Russia and Ukraine to present a gift(s) to your lady friend upon arrival. Often gifts for the family member(s) and close friend(s) are a requirement. These gifts do not need to be expensive. Just remember not giving a gift to your lady friend or her close friend(s) will be an insult.
well the dates have changed should be in country on October 29th. heading to my flat in Sumy with a lovely lady meeting me at the airport. then back to Kiev on the 4th and having dinner with another lady.
i'll be back in kyiv by the start of november unless anything else goes really wrong! it's a lot harder leaving the UK for good to live in ukraine than i thought! my number in kyiv is +380 66666 4456, the easiest to remember phone number i have ever had! lol! /pete
