There is a dating agency AFA that lists how many women from there site have been engaged/married I would like to know is this just a marketing tool or is there truth to this? So far they list 347 engagements this year. Many women on this list are between 21-25 and not many over 30. What men are getting these lady's are they rich? do most live in europe? Why dont I here much on this forum about these success stories.
Engagements happen all the time. People usually do not like to announce it on a dating site.
Yes it is good marketing. I think forum members will share their experiences on this subject.
Gtraveler Engagement can be a loose word. There is a school of thought that Martin would call a one trip wonder that believes after writing for a time and meeting it is time to fill papers for a visa (finance visa). When this intent is known technically the couple is engaged. This is probably the number AFA uses. I do not know the per cent of these that actually get the documents filled out and apply for a visa but probably on the low side of half. More are weeded out as they know each other better and abort as are some that get the paperwork done and get cold feet at making the actual move and some that use the visa but decide against the alter.
I have not been on a tour but the movies I have seen indicate a push by the guide to fill the finance visa papers out. Jet may be able to shed some light on that. And I believe AFA sponsors quite a few tours. So the 347 number may indicate the number of the couples with the intent to fill the papers out but the actual number of legitimate engagements is only a small per cent of that number.
And I agree with Olga, I would never post my personal life on this forum.
I read somewhere (here?) of a gentleman who met a RW by means other that an agency but was listed there. Of course, as their relationship progressed and they became engaged, she requested her profile be removed. When her profile was removed she was listed as engaged implying it was through that agency. Not entirely misleading but not entirely true either.
Actually it was another forum member that introduced me to the term 'one trip wonder' and it was so precisely accurate I couldn't help but admire it.
But ..... as an example, I met up with, and spent a wet weekend with, an American friend of mine last weekend in Amsterdam, he and his wife are listed on Elena's Models as engaged/married, he volunteered that information to the agency knowing that they had such a listing.
