Met my wife there. Correction...make that Ex-Wife. As for Belarus...not nearly as progressive as Ukraine. Still being run by a Dictator. In general...People there don't speak much english. There are a few sites to see in Minsk and i especially enjoyed the WW2 museums and the Opera House but the rest of the country is farm land and praire land.Maybe 5 cities in all Belarus with populations over 250000.Minsk has about 2 million. As for online Matchmaking agencies...the general rule is that they are all in for profit and few if any can be trusted. If you really want to meet a nice trustworthy girl from an Eastern former FSU country...try ...it's not pay per letter and it run by a Norwegian company...they do a good job of keeping the scammers off. Been to Ukraine a few times, so know what to expect there. Been talking to a couple of gals there and its time to make some movement. What's the deal with Belarus? Anyone been over lately? (Some say that line of distinction is being crossed by another well known leader of a much bigger country - but thats another topic). And there ARE special Belarus restriction placed on marriage agencies and special restictive rules regarding marrying a woman from the country. Don't know all of the specifics (use Google maybe) but I know that the goevernmant instituted a rather unique crack-down on men looking for brides a year or more ago. Otherwise - if I find myself looking again, ever, Belarus would be in my top three countries I would consider. FIrst, I would go back to Moldova. Then I would consider Belarus and the more remote areas of Russia (NOT Chelny). But hey - go for it. I met her on another site, spoke to her a few times and was informed by that site that one of their affiliates had been infomed of her. Spent about 6 quid on phone calls...ho hum. Also most of the prostitutes in Spain working the streets are from Moldova. I know this from girls grabbing me on my way home there and me stopping just to talk. But its more the corrupt police officers I've had trouble with than any criminal element. Why would I go there? Well for one thing - thats where my ex and maybe future fiance is from. We're talking very seriously. Second is that the place isn't "fished out" yet like Ukraine is - meaning a LOT of guys are afraid to go there - which makes more for those of us willing to go. Be back there in October Jet, need to sort out the girls and have some fun at clubs. You know I felt safe at night in city centre using buses....far more than some cities in Ukraine. I like downtown area of Chisinau...bigger than Odessa but much smaller than Kiev. Jet, did you ever go through Frankfurt to get to Moldova? Nice inexpensive flights. I've been here over 20 times and spend 40% of the year here. Never had a cop cause me trouble. But good hotels are hard to come by at a good price. Better to stay in an apartment. It was no surprise when that agency informed me that they had pulled her profile on advice from another of their networks. Fast forward a few weeks and I'm in Minsk. Do I give her a call? Nah... I was going to. But why waste precious time. You pays your money you takes your chance. Why don't you contact her?
