I have been a lurker for the last 12 months and have picked up some invaluable information and advice from the people who exist here. I had dipped my toes in the FSU-dating scene previously but it had ultimatley led to little (well apart from scammers - one sending me 'her' picture that was actually of Denise Milani :). If you haven’t already been I’d say get on the boat. I’m not as experienced in this venture as some on here but I know enough about it now to make an informed decision that it is not for me. I’ve spent that last 2 years going to and from Ukraine and it has been a crazy and dazzling experience. The women I have met, even the ones not dating have been a wonder. Unfortunately “wonder” is the operative word here…. I always wonder where a relationship will lead. Or wonder what is going on in here mind. Reasons for me quitting this are as follows:- 1.The main one is that I’m hooked up with a Spanish lady who is even hotter than the girls form Ukraine and who wouldn’t take kindly to me pissing off to Ukraine for one last fling. 2. It was all just a fling…I realise that now and probably right from the start it was at the back of my mind. 3. My last trip to meet a woman wasn’t even to Ukraine but Turkey and it was just a fling. It seems that they are only after that all expenses paid trip either to Turkey, Egypt or wherever, or a holiday in a nice apartment in their hometown or Kiev/Odessa/Yalta…you name the city…they’ll meet you there. 4. Ukrainian women are closed books…you can never really get into their heads…just my experience of the ones I knew. I met one Russian woman living there and she was even more closed than the rest. 5. A woman from Ukraine is too dependant on you. Re above Turkey trip, I bought the whole damn thing apart from her bus ride to Kiev to catch the plane. Sure…they might put their hand in their pocket to buy you a going away present or pay the odd restaurant tip. But for guys coming from the west..you get to pay the lot. Usually western guy prices too. My Spanish Lady, I see her every single weekend, she’s financially independent and pays her own way here every other weekend and puts me up in her apartment every time I go there. Ukrainain girls won’t put you up because they live with their mother 80% of the time and they want a couple of weeks away from the hassle of living in their own place. So you pay the apartment. One more thing; my girlfriend has a business which she runs with her ex-husband, so they are still on friendly terms…get this…he’s been in a relationship with a young Ukrainian girl. Two months into the relationship and already he’s bought her a flat….she’s 23….go figure.
