Shis-Ka-Bob, I believe is called shaslik. I enjoyed the bread and we were able to get fresh Sudak (walleye) on Wendesday mornings at the open market, in Mariupol 1 block toward the sea fron the moscow store. There is another market for Mondays in another part of town and yet another on Friday. This is the only place I saw fresh meat and it looked fine, just slaughtered, but you have to get there early especially in warm weather. I love Borsh (ukranian, not Russian). I do not care for the salt fish. Lena has to go to a Russian or Greek store to get it hear as with Lamb.
I live in the US for 12 years, I hate all this Burgerg King fast food and now I see why all american people look like Winie The Pooh. I always eat with my family fresh ukrainian food that our grandma makes. Healthy beautiful and good for good people(!)
Has anyone tried Plov? My girlfriend is Russian and lives there now, but born in Uzbekistan, and this and other Uzbek cuisine was delicious, but plov has become my favourite dish :)
Pity it takes hours and hours to make, but I have since tried making it with her mothers recipe, and have had some good success :D
But the real test will be when Daria arrives in 4 weeks :)
Well Ann, it is apparent you were not all over the USA. To say ALL american people look like Winnie The Pooh is like saying all ukrainian girls are scammers. Are you one???
Sorry, I mean not all american people. I have a great friend from CA, she eat only vegetarian food and seafood, she weight appr. 125 pounds, but she is smart and a very good person. Her husband like our ukrainian vareniki(âàðåíèêè).
Ann, so there's one American person who does not look like Winnie the Pooh and she's from CA. You live in the US, does that mean you married Winnie the Pooh.
I can never understand why someone would live in a country that they hate. Just go back home!
I have lived in Sweden, Denmark, Russia .... everywhere is different to Australia in small or big ways, so adapt! If you can't adapt and continually complain, then it's time to go home.
So why did you stay for 12 years in the US, if you hated it so much?
Please think cleverly!
In my opinion I live in most beautiful place of the USA. I like my neighbors, my best friends, some people around, and I love mountains and the beautiful lakes around.
Yes, when you a smart person, you hate a bad custom to eat fast food and Pepsy because it's not good food for your health, and it's not good for kids too!!
I'll never adopt no one country, because I have my own opinion about good and bad things and my own way. So I'll stay here(US) and there(Europe) and other... where is a best place for my kids on this time.
So I just let you know you are not ready to have the ukrainian girl because she is a beautiful, smart and have high IQ.
Guess where I am from Ann???? Yes CA......many people here eat very well, got to stay healthy to wear little clothing and chill on the beach. Still, there are those that choose in indulge in McDees and Burger king...... that is true!!!! From what what I see in Kiev, Odessa, Chisinau and St Pete's....after a generation or so, fast food will be a big way of life in FSU.
Mac....Ann said she hates the fast food places, not the people.
Quote: “I always eat with my family fresh ukrainian food that our grandma makes.”
Why am I thinking a real Ukrainian would never make the glaring typo above? Pleasant to see “Ann” is embracing the culture of her new country so emphatically. Trolls live under bridges, be careful which roads you choose to walk on forums gentlemen.
Dear Dunromin, "äàëåêî êóöåìó äî çàéöÿ", if you know what is mean, when I can tell you that you know the ukrainian language.
Also thank you "gentlemen", you give me a really good idea to wright a new E-book for Amazon, maybe I will call this book "Ways to keep Ukrainian woman happy when you have marriage with American man"
Yes, I'm proud mom of my two kids that can speak four language. In good time I give my kids to private school because the american public school is suck. And my ex-husband from MN was so lazy boy to learn just one european(!) language after 5 years of our marriage. He knows only three words: ïðèâåò, áîðù, íà äîáðàí³÷...
I was always wonder how he can work so many years on US military company with his IQ???
Its not difficult to get a good meal in the FSU. First you get your girl to drive you to the supermarket. Toss some vegetables in the trolley, go to the fish section and point to the fish, swimming around in the tank, that you want. They will fillet it if you want. Pick up some Dutch cheese, Russian rye, NZ butter and some Standart vodka, unless your girl has a supply of medical spirit.
Place shopping on kitchen bench, vodka in the freezer and rest for half an hour.
Then wahla !!! A fantastic meal is ready.
Ann: I know little "Ukrainian" language and quite frankly, I am not interested in learning but thankyou for the offer to pass judgement on levels achieved if I should ever change my mind. Don't hold your breath.
Dear raginbull,
this book like Google guide to help the foreigner ladies from any country to fing right guy here in the USA, some legal advices, the attorney phone numbers, the colleges addresses, to warn some mistakes that most people did, about american customs and holidays, and how to find your Freedom in the USA.
