I wanted to get some channels on the tv here for the wife in Ukranian having rung around the only options were free to air. I got a phone number of a Romanian guy he said when im in the Ukraine buy a pay monthly box with
a card he said it would be very cheap. Bring it back here and hed put a dish up and cable it for about 150 for me. This would be perfect..anyone else try this?
When I previously lived in Luxembourg, zero in English on local TV and to buy Sky out there is/was expensive, I bought Sky when in UK, for licensing purposes it was to be used at my UK address, could only be used in UK, and I took it to Luxembourg and set it up there with no problem at all.
Cannot think of any reason why you cannot do something similar in Ukraine, you or your wife buys a dish and box or whatever, tell them it is for use at her Ukrainian address, then bring it back and set it up at your place, all you need to know is the approx position of the satellite to, by trial and error, get the dish pointing in the right direction.
Would the Romanian guy have the right dish for whatever box you may buy or might you need to buy the dish, you might have to buy the box and dish together anyway, to pair with the box you buy?
for about 30 dollars a month you can subscribe online and watch russian and ukrainian tv programs on your laptop. Quality is pretty good, kept the wife quite so well worth the money. I believe we used http://www.webtelek.com/ but there are lots of such services.
Being in Australia, that wasn't an option for me. But there is a company who provides a subscription service to a very, very limited number of channels .... but it is better than nothing. I just had to get the decoder and a satellite dish, then the card from this company.
