I used to use Call Happy but the quality is very bad now as most of these
services are. Anyone know the best way to call from Uk, call quality the most important
thing but obviously not at a silly price.
I have tried lots that are advertised on the internet but all are really poor quality.
www.telestunt.co.uk or www.telesavers.co.uk seem to be as good as any.
Years ago, by trial and error, I tried some crappy services but I have been using telestunt for years, and more recently telesavers, (whichever is cheapest) and occasionally one cannot get a connection, or may need to try again due to bad quality of conversation, but all in all they are generally very good.
Bow, I use a couple different ones because at times I cannot get through on one I go to another.
At moment I am using cloncom and nobel and at times speedypin. Cloncom seems best at moment, I recently just started with nobel. You are right it can be a crap shoot.
Even though I live in New Zealand, I use Call2 for all my overseas calls - quality is normally excellent. Calls to Russian landlines are normally crystal-clear, and mobiles are nearly as good, depending on where the called person is at the time.
Calls to Ukraine a couple of years ago were a rather mixed bag (when I actually got through), but they're much better these days (and I got credited extra when I complained about poor quality).
Thanks guys, I will give them a try.
The other option is on my Orange Payasyougo, there is a tariff
where the cost is 25p a minute, but at least call quality is good
Never had any problems phoning Ukraine.
Normally have a few connection numbers written down and the connection is bad hang up and try the same number again.
If still bad..take the next one on the list.
Big improvement from a few years ago..use the same provider all the time now..7p per minute....I think.
Well I use telestunt and/or telesavers for my business calls aswell, example 0.5p per minute to Sweden for an excellent quality of call, if there is a problem it is generally the cr@ppy Ukrainian phone network, few international lines, overloaded etc. etc. etc.
i used to always use telesavers. quality could be a bit hit and miss, especially when they first introduced a different number for calling mobiles versus landlines.
for people to call me here in ukraine from the uk, i always run skype and a sipgate voip client. sipgate.co.uk gives me an 0845 number that anyone can use as well as using a soft phone.
if she has a "LIFE" sim card you have another couple of options:
1) "Free World" lets you call them for free using a web client to their phone. i haven't tried it yet (no idea why not) and costs you 25grv to activate. you can get a virtual life number by registering on their website here: http://www.life.ua/index.php?area=mylife&lng=en&page=3-500
2) "One World" lets them call you for 1grv a minute. the service costs 5grv a month to keep activated. i used to use this one all the time for calling home. (now prefer skype, etc)
hence while here i use 2 mobiles, one on "Jeans" because it has a very cool number (8066666***6) and a life one for their special tarrifs (also quite a cool number 80***561234!)
