My Wizz air flight to Kiev arrive 00.30 a.m. and before I get true custom it is maybe 00.10 in night. Plan is to get a train or flight from Kiev to Kherson (Odessa). What should I do? I guess it is not any chance to get out from Kiev before next morning - so maybe the only possibility is to find a hotel close to airport? I not speak Russian so sitting at the airport all night is maybe not a good option. Any suggestions or recommendations?
Google for Borispol airport and on the Borispol website is a link to the airport hotel. If you book in advance you pay an additional 50% booking fee, it's 5 minutes walk (straight ahead across the roundabout) out of the terminal and just go turn up there, whatever you do do NOT fall for one of the airport taxi touts that will hastle you.
The terminal is about a block away to Boryspil Airport Hotel. It is walking distance, but not if you have luggage to carry. A taxi will charge 20 UAH.
It is $65 USD a night, single with free breakfast. If you make reservations, it is an extra $30 USD. I would not make a reservation, but it's up to you. I have arrived there twice without a reservation and they had room.
I just looked up their hotel rates with today's exchange rate. If you make a reservation, it is about $65 USD and if you don't, it is a little more than $40 USD.
The bus to Kiev from Boryspol does not run at that time of night. The trains run at night, so if going by train you have all the next day to spend in Kiev. Spend the night at the airport hotel, within walking distance, they are used to dealing with non-russian speakers. You will not be able to get anything to eat at that time so plan accordingly. If you fly to Odessa I believe you have to switch airports. Kiev is about 40 min bus ride from the airport.
The taxi driver there's name is Igor. He drives a taxi by day and drives the shuttle to and from the airport at night. I am not sure about the shuttle picking you up at the airport, but it did take me there to my flight. Try calling them.
If you take Igor's taxi to go shopping, he will wait for you while you're shopping. No meter running or extra charge.
I agree, just stay at airport hotel overnight and get 8:35 flight in morning to Odessa and from there you can get taxi or bus to kherson. If you are new at this, find a site that can taxi you to your destination, best if booked through company you will be renting apt from. I can suugest if you need.
By the way, good discounts currently from aerosvit.
Beware of those girls from kherson.............
I get the link ragingbull - thank you. How do I get to Igor you speak about - who I should call? So you not think it is a change to take - not making any hotel reservations?
Where can I get a train ticket next morning? It need to be purchased in forehand or can I just go to the station and get it in the morning?
I arrived at that hotel one evening, during the heat of a Ukrainian summer, and they had plenty of rooms available but alas all rooms with air con. had already been booked.
Air Con. is a 'must' during a summer, if you're arriving during winter then not neccessary.

In any case you will need a bed to sleep. Stay in Boryspil hotel. Because (for example) first plane from Borispol (KBP) to Odessa (ODS) airport starts at 10.45. (you can visit aerosvt.com).
Here some ways to go to Kheson.
1) by plane.
If you want to fly to Kherson – you will need fly from Borispol (KBP) to Odessa (ODS) airport, because Kherson airport doesnt work. According to Aerosvit it will take about 1 hours and 20 minutes. Book taxi from Odessa to Kherson in advance). [See my profile or write me PM from forum, we can discuss it. Our service constantly takes people from ODS to Kherson.]. (don’t take airport taxi-drivers, they will see you are foreigner and will try to earn more money from you). Road from Odessa airport to Kherson will take 3-3,5 hours. It depends on traffic, weather and problems on Nikolaev bridge. Taxi will take you directly to your apartment or hotel in Kheson.
If you dont want to pay for taxi from Odessa to Kherson – take taxi to Odessa bus station (it will costs about 100 grivnas). Bus Odessa-Kherson (or minibus - marshrutka) costs 50-60 grivnas. If you have alot of luggage take regular bus. It is slow but it has luggage spaces.
Marshrutka (minibus) more fast, but usually it doesn’t have luggage space.
You will kill alot of time, but you will arrive to Kherson after 6-7 hours. Bus or minibus will take you to Kherson bus station where you will take taxi to your hotel or apartment in Kherson.
2) by train.
Train Kiev – Kherson (N 101/102) starts about 21.00 from Kiev and arrives to Kherson about 10.15 next Monday (road will take aout 13 hours).
Here aproximate prices for tickets from Kiev to Kherson:
1st class sleeping carrriage (cabin for 2 persons, in russian pronouncing like “spal’nyi wagon”) - 330 ua grivnas;
2nd class (cabin for 4 persons) [in russian pronouncing like “coupe”] - about 100 grivnas
3rd class (has sleeping places for 6 persons) [in russian pronouncing like “platzkart” or “platzkartnyi wagon”] - about 70 grivnas.
Kherson railway station is on Ushakova (main) street, where you will take taxi to your hotel or apartment.
3) by bus
Bus Kiev-Kherson (luxury buses by Gyunsel company) starts about 10.30 of morning from Kiev and arrives to Kherson about 20.30 of evening. (road will take about 10 hours). Ticket costs about 140 grivnas. You will arrive to Kherson bus station where you will take taxi to your hotel or apartment.
Igor is parked outside of the hotel during the day and drives the shuttle at night. He gave me his card, but it must have fallen out of my briefcase. He is connected with the hotel. You can negotiate with the hotel for a taxi ride. I'm sure Igor or another taxi driver will buy the train ticket for you, but I didn't use him for that.
You don't NEED to take a taxi from Borispol Airport to Borispol Airport Hotel - there is a FREE Courtesy Bus that runs every half hour (I think starting at like 5:00).
Ask at the Information Desk - there is a FREE Courtesy Phone - (green I think) attached to a pillar near the Information Desk and it is a direct line to the hotel. Simply tell them you are there and they will send a bus (during slow periods) and pick you up. FREE.
I feel sorry for people who pay for a TAXI and even more fore those who WALK - it isn't that far away from the hotel - but certainly not within sight either - I think its actuall two blocks down - then you must turn right and go down a bit further.
Fairly nice hotel though - good breakfast - and cheap compared to others around Kiev.
I didn't know there was a shuttle back then. I had two luggage and a carry on. One had no rollers, the other broke. It was cold and there was snow on the ground, and it would have been difficult to wait.
Don't feel sorry for me, jetmba. The taxi cost me 20 UAH, but it was worth it. Feel sorry for the taxi driver who needed that 20 UAH enough to not tell me there was a shuttle.
Good point RB. Wouldn't be too bothered about a guy just tryin' to make a living.
Too many folks look out for the little scams and turn a bling eye to the big uns.
Trying to save a few quid here and there when you've just forked out a few grand and holidays on meeting someone who just might not be who she says she is doesn't make much sense in the grand scheme of things.
Anyway...not to get away from the subject here or anything but apparently it's 10° in Barcelona should find out for myself in around 14 hours.
Have a nice weekend y'all.
