Hey guys does anyone know if it is normal for the Russian agencies to request money to be sent Western Union for phone calls? I am at the point in correspondance with a lady where we will be speaking on the phone. The agency has quoted me a price of $1.00 a minute with interpreter or first call is free and then $10.00 a month for $15.00 minutes. However they want me to send it the form of Western Union. Is this a scam or just the way they do things?
Also, if I fly over there and meet her is the agency going to want a fee to meet her? I really don't want to be put on the spot in another country.
Is it possible for you to find someone in your area who speaks Russian. It may be even worth searching the local University or Community College for someone who does. Then pay that person to make a call with you. The money you spend for this agency to provide this service may be even more than you would spend with the method I mention above. I don't trust these phone introductions any more than I trust email forwarding. Is this agency or girl willing to give you her private phone number? If not then get the hell out now! Your being scammed! If you and your girl already have met via emails, telephone and such then the agency should not charge you to meet her.
They will charge you for things such as airport pick up and hotel transfer or apartment rental and such. That is legit business. They only charge for meeting of a girl when you cold call the girl.
Thanks deanis, they gave me her private address but I haven't asked for her private phone yet. I will see, tomorrow is going to be the first phone call.
That is some good advice I have to see how much she understands I guess. I wasn't sure if they work like introductory services here where you pay a huge fee to meet them. That's cool, I will just have to watch out for the transportation scams. I've heard stories about those being inflated.
