I have make all arrangements from my end for a 8 day luxury resort beach vacation. I only asked her to pay for her airfare. She can afford this as she has mentioned going to Spain, Turkey, Egypt or Thailand. I have not heard from her about this. Should I drop her from the list and choose another or am I missing something here? I think she should pay something to prove that she is serious. I can pay for everything but I think someone should offer to pay what they can. Am I wrong or right? Unless she has a job that allows her paid holidays I would assume that any woman would baulk at the thought of paying her way there and loosing 8-10 days pay for not being at work. I'd also question if she can actually travel to DR. The countries you mention are easy enough for her to get visa too. I'm assuming DR is included in these countrie...right? Could it be the "I'm at the airport but don't have money for the plane fair scenario?" If it was her idea then reasonable enough that she makes a gesture of seriousness, if it was his idea then he should expect to pay for everything and if he doesn't then she will think that he is 'taking the piss' by expecting her to pay and she will probably want nothing more to do with him. She mentioned first the idea of Thailand as she said she had $1000 or so to spend on the trip. She has a good job in the medical field and she has 4 weeks of vacation, 2 in May and 2 in July. Since she said she had $1000 I asked her to apply it to her flight and I would pay the rest. The Dominican Republic was my idea as I did not really want to spend over 30 hours to get to Thailand. She seemed excited by the idea. Still no word from her. So she has $1000 to burn? Well my friend, cheapest airfare for her would be around $1500-$2000 and IF there is flights through an airport that has a restricted zone if not it is time for a visa. Not sure if Madrid has such a zone, paris does but that jumps the price a 1 or 2 grand. I figured DR was your idea. What 'she' is excited about is the extra cash she may be pocketing!!! You're right, her flight is $1450. Have not met her. Been in contact over 6 months now. I wanted to go to Russia first but she said she didn't want to stay in town and wanted a vacation. Her relatives do not live nearby so I thought why not? I may still decide to go to Russia first. DR is where I am off too in less than a month, with a nice Columbian girl. I didn't meet here in Columbia, on an Agency, or online though, so don't get the wrong idea. She's just hot and we happened to meet in my hometown. Quite different than what you are aspiring for. I understand from reading these boards that there is no Visa requirement for UA women to visit DR. This is good. I also hear there are quite a few FSU girls down there(perhaps not the gf or marrying type) so if you have everything planned out, and it does not work out at the last minute, which this smells of, you still have options, and the chick from DR are pretty hot too. My wife has passed thru Paris a number of times and the transit is no issue and certainly no extra cost. I only mentioned that I don't know of other cities that have same kind of area. If you read my post above, I did say paris has this zone. I am not sure how easily it would be to pass through airport for a girl from FSU country without a visa, in lets say Frankfurt or Vienna. Exceptions being when your connecting flight is from a different airport in that city. I must admit to particularly disliking Paris which wont allow you to enter the departure lounge without a boarding pass even if you have a valid ticket. I had to cool my heals for 5 hrs once because the transit desk couldnt issue the boarding pass. I was travelling business and was looking forward to relaing in the lounge . Anywhere else you go thru on your ticket and get the boarding pass when the flight opens. I hear in US these days they make you go thru customs even if you are just transiting therefore requiring a visa, but as I havent been there for 8 years Im not really familiar with the requirements. Any other suggestions for Thailand? Not many travel agents here familiar with Asian travel, mainly packages for Caribbean, Mexico and Europe. She can travel without visa to several Caribbean islands like DR, St. Lucia, Antigua, & Jamaica. I think there is a transit area at JFK.
